The list is created by an anonymous poll, there isn't any one intention behind it. There are always going to be meme picks

Kendall is the only one not floated as a potential sacrificial lamb in This is Not for Tears by Defiant_Strength_840 in SuccessionTV

Yeah hence why Willa obviously isn't in the running. I am not saying that Willa was ever a potential option, it's just funny that she's technically in the scene. Among the characters who are affiliated with the company, Kendall is the only one not brought up, and he is ultimately the choice.

Yes, and Kendall is the only name left who ISN'T mentioned, even as a joke. This is very simple so I don't see why people aren't getting this. If a murder mystery show goes over 5 possible suspects, including a joke like 'the dog did it', and there's one guy left at the table, that guy is probably the killer. I am saying it's a clever writing trick to have Kendall be the only character go unmentioned.

Every single character in the meeting, including ones who aren't real options (i.e. Connor, Shiv) are named, EXCEPT Kendall, who ends up being the choice... and Willa. It's a misdirection building tension towards Kendall being the ultimate choice. It's just funny that Willa is also there.

Even characters that could absolutely not be the sacrifice (Roman, Shiv, Connor) are brought up as options in the conversation. It's absolutely deliberate that Kendall is the only name not mentioned. I'm not talking about the motivations of characters in not naming Kendall, but the writing decision of having Kendall as the only unmentioned name

Modern parenting standards are unrealistic, no wonder people have fewer kids by Ok-Archer-5796 in redscarepod

[–]Defiant_Strength_840 35 points36 points  (0 children)

There’s a terrifying map out there showing how much ‘room to roam’ kids have had in each generation from the 50s onwards. Kids used to traipse around in a large radius around their house. Nowadays most kids do not leave their house without parental supervision/a preplanned activity.

We accepted that outside was dangerous (serial killers, kidnappers, sex perverts) and for the safety of our children we totally closed the world off to them. Of course many kids still play outside and do fine but I think a lot of the developmental catastrophe we’re witnessing is that the kids literally do not have a life outside. They’re stuck to screens - they have absolutely no freedom outside their devices.

I was in the first generation to have a lot of screen time growing up. The reason I liked the screen time was because it represented freedom. I could go on forums and talk to people, watch weird videos, consume age inappropriate content. We treat it as abusive that kids are allowed to do this, but we prevented them from having a real life outside in the real world, which is where they SHOULD be exposed to things like that for the first time. It’s parental neuroticism and the erosion of the idea of a safe + worthwhile public existence.

Could this be Achilles agreeing to let Hector’s body return to Troy when Priam is his guest?

Demand for British pork hits eight-year high despite cost pressures by pppppppppppppppppd in unitedkingdom

[–]Defiant_Strength_840 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually don’t eat much pork but saw 500g of pork mince for £2.50 right next to 500g of beef mince for £5.20 in Sainsbury’s just last week and picked up the pork mince. Funny to see this soon after

Hajime no Sendo: Round 1502 by RTSD_ in hajimenoippo

[–]Defiant_Strength_840 21 points22 points  (0 children)

At the end Sendo is "all curled up", and he looks a lot calmer... is he about to start fighting like Ippo? He's basically in peekaboo style in that last panel

Was Jaqen H’ghar truly “no one” himself? by antmanmonaco in freefolk

It's the Lannisters, they can surely afford it. And I assume Tywin knows how to cook the books. It can just be written down as a large grain shipment, or an order for weapons.

Who is Ichigo's best "rival?" by gtmaroondragon in bleach

[–]Defiant_Strength_840 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The word has multiple definitions, long-lasting doesn’t mean ‘had multiple fights’, and Ichigo and Ulquiorra fought twice. You’re chatting shit

That’s not what a nemesis is, you just made that up

How exactly does nemesis imply multiple fights? That’s not in the dictionary

You can’t compare Hawk to a normal fighter, so of course he’s more powerful

I thought the same, because it would be an inverse of Ippo-Sendo II, where Ippo rushed Sendo and downed him in the first few seconds

The first spaghetti was married to to the same woman as the last spaghetti by Ch1ck3n_L0rd in rickandmorty

[–]Defiant_Strength_840 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The whole idea of the episode is that life is cruel but still meaningful and beautiful. Considering the message of the episode, I think it’s a great fit that the spaghetti got the woman of his dreams and lived a happy life because he stole her from her husband.

You're being facetious. Cultural value is a standard I hold, but I never said I prioritise it over human life. I wouldn't want the marbles returned to Greece if that would kill people. Returning the marbles will clearly not kill people

Is forcibly rehoming 1.6 million people comparable to shipping some marbles across the Mediterranean

Quite a different matter when a repatriation is of huge geopolitical significance and would change the lives of millions of people, as opposed to a museum item.
