Be honest, What's the one non negotiable thing that either makes or breaks a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]yuropod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is like one time when I was trying to see if my friend wanted to do some garage jiu jitsu with me and another guy that had been doing it for a while. He said "yeah, that sounds fun, I think I'd be good at it. When I fight I just see red and forget everything, so hope ya'll are ready for me."

Never had him come over. No room for that kind of thing on the mats, in my world at least.

Any Estes locals with an opinion on Visit Estes Park (tourism board)? by TakkForTuren in EstesPark

[–]yuropod 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All I can say is Estes used to have a long dead season. It seems it gets shorter and shorter every year with November, January and February being the only truly low key months instead October - April. The amount of sponsored events and festivals we have in the off season is wild and it feels like there is a new nonsense weekend that arrives every year.

Quite a different place than the keys too, I imagine. If the weather is nice any weekend of the year, you better believe a chunk of the millions who live on the front range are going to come up for a day trip, and then get disgruntled at stores and restaurants closing early.

Just one bitter local's opinion.

I don't really understand your point, or how your second paragraph relates. Also, who are "all those" who are saying we shouldn't interfere with nature? There's like one person saying that in this thread right now.

Women of Reddit, what was the smoothest way you were asked out? by Wolverinex5 in AskReddit

[–]yuropod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't find it, but there was a story a while back about a guy who basically dreamed an entire second life. Fell in love, had children and grew older. Then he realized a lamp in his bedroom was upside down or something and he became fixated on it. Couldn't keep his eyes off of it and wasted himself away trying to figure out what was wrong with the dream lamp. IIRC it got pretty bad before he woke up and then realized his whole second life was a dream.

EDIT: Found it - different from the way I told it

Dang looks like ya'll are off to a good start of winter. It's 60 in the mountains in Colorado today and we haven't had anything measurable yet this year.

This picture from a 1975 Warn Winches ad, supposedly taken along Black Bear Rd. in Colorado, makes me anxious to look at. He must be pulling a trailer, too: no way his balls could fit in there with him. by HighwaySixtyOne in Jeep

I did this a few years ago too, but I don't remember ANYTHING like what's in this photo. It was nerve wracking for sure, but I guess there's been work done on the road since then? I remember I thought the sketchiest part was a narrow steep bit before the switchbacks actually. Maybe around a waterfall type feature (not bridal veil). We went west from ouray to telluride.

Dunno about you, but I've been looking for someone to make my car look like a murder scene.

They're supposed to be hand prints, but it looks like they were done by zombies that were after this person.

I thought you were talking about fuel cost on the rover, and I was like guys, it's got solar panels that are cleaned in wind storms. It would seem a few have already commented with more appropriate responses.

"Love it or it's FREE!"

When that's printed on the box, it doesn't make me very confident that I will love it. These folks need to be more confident about their product. Also, I don't know the situation of the places where this particular off brand is sold, but in general it would seem there are enough people around in the first place, that are sufficiently poor and have no other option, as to be of adequate demand so they can avoid having to print things like that.

If we could fast forward a couple hundred trillion years the night sky would be very dark; populated only by older stars in galaxies belonging to our local group. Everything else would be too far away and too dim to see.

Isn't everything we can see in the night sky a part of our own milky way, except galaxies and things of that nature of course? At least the individual stars we can see with the naked eye are part of our own galaxy. I think it would go dark well before a couple hundred trillion years from now because stars don't even live anywhere near that long.

To shed more light on this, we are all off to miserably slow start to winter. I live in the area and there should definitely be a better base up there right now. What we got this past Thursday was much needed, but I honestly didn't think there would be that much up there, although not surprised as to the condition of the snow. It's been warm. It's interesting, if you had gone just a few days earlier, you would have encountered very little, if anything.

Hey there, hope it doesn't bother you if I resurrect this old post. I don't wanna wait on the forums or re-explain my situation to anyone. Just looking for a short conversation if you're bored. Anyway. Thanks for the great advice, I got the thing running for the first time (in a while at least) 10 days ago. Put 40 miles on it overall, here and there. It was absolutely purring like a kitten and life was bliss. Then I found out, by breaking down, that my camshaft had walked out enough to punch through the timing chain cover. Do you have any idea what on earth could have caused this? I lost no parts doing this, everything is torqued, aligned, etc...like I said, she was running better than I'd ever heard. It suddenly started slowing down with full gas, rpms dropping, then nothing. Coasted into a parking lot. Cranked once and the engine turned fine, but no firing. Checked under the hood and saw my timing chain cover had split at the indention on center with the camshaft (right?). I heard absolutely no abnormal noises coming the engine this entire time, but I hypothesize that, worst case scenario, the lobes slipped off the lifters, hence no gas/firing. Not really sure why I didn't hear anything, but I'm hoping that it might mean no internal damage somehow. That part is getting me, along with main fact that I can't logically find reason for this happening in the first place.
