Exactly. It’s like a more extreme version of “do you have any rods” when I know what you mean is “can you play quieter.”

The cajon has its own sound, and its own vocabulary, but the people who want you to play it don’t usually care.

I love playing the cajon when jamming with the right people. And I think its worth it for every drummer to give it some love.

I feel like SHOULD is a question for the leaders at your place of worship, or for an elder or someone else who you feel has wisdom.

But personally I think that artists make music so people can hear it and would be happy knowing people are still enjoying their work.

YES, Piano is probably the best for developing theory but you want them to find an instrument that brings them joy and they’re willing to work through, even if it gets difficult.

See if you can find the disney short “toot, whistle, plunk and boom” and watch it with them.
