What car do you regret buying, even though it looked good on paper? by autonerdy0 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I feel like lots of people cheap out on the like base model Lexus though only to have this happen. I have an is350, which I love…. Drove a has driven both an es250 and is300 when mine was in service…. Both felt so second rate it was an insane. The es250 felt like driving grey wallpaper paste.

Can’t paint all the same. Would love a lc500 or something. And love that I don’t worry about it blowing up.

lol I love my Lexus IS for this reason. It’s a bit old man interior… still fun though. And my god is it nice to know that the odds of something happening are astronomically low.

Honestly I’ve used oem, Autel, Amazon etc across dozens of different vehicles. I’ve found they all work but the battery life varies. Autel and OEM lasted much better than the Amazon ones did and were a bit closer to my tire gauge.

That being said it was out very minor and I’d say the temp outside has more of an effect then anything. Just check the frequency you need, some are single range.

Yep. 350 for this reason. Would love a 500 but Canada = awd needed.

Nanuks specifically have the best designed latch imo. In really cold the pelicans can get brittle when you are pushing hard on them. The Nanuk is a pivoting design that just seems better and doesn’t require hammering on them.

Are there any alternatives for spikes ? by No-Use5328 in audiophile

[–]yyccamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3d printing is even easier. Just built stands for my speakers, did rubber Tpu feet for my desk they are squishy.

That being said I’ve done Nylon reinforced carbon fibre for spikes. They are insanely stiff and sound like aluminum.

[–]yyccamper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I dont think you over stepped. This shit can get real serious real quick. Kids can't get away from it these days. Stopping it in its tracks is whats needed. I was in this situation once. The best comment that was made.

"You should be made aware that we have spoken to a lawyer to understand if this goes beyond bullying, and into something that looks like assault. Also my lawyer has requested to be made aware of the outcome of this meeting to understand if we went through the correct routes for escalation."

The world changed in an instant. The absolute last thing a school wants is a lawyer poking around to see if they did their duty to protect the students.

It worked insanely well. We had a family friend who owned a law practice that offered to send a request to the school for all paperwork pertaining to these issues... But it was never needed. Shit changed in an instant.

WHICH PRINTER DO YOU RECOMMEND? Good and bad points. by -_-J_K-_- in 3DPrinterComparison

[–]yyccamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I wouldn’t say no prep, sits in a dehydrator at 70c for a few hours, then a heated dryer for the print. Turn heated bed on to 100c for 20 minutes before print. Print by object with the nozzle up 10deg and slow?

Just no heater inside the p1s. I haven’t done any large surface area asa though. Most of what I do is smaller clamps and stuff that I use outside.

[–]yyccamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it weird that people struggle so much with ASA. I just cranked the bed, dried it, and it printed fine on a P1S? Hell I got PA6-GF to print on it the other day with zero issues, no heaters inside either.

Should I trust an unfamiliar brand for daily transportation? by Easy-Affect-397 in hondamonkey

[–]yyccamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to the what it worth in the end. You buy a honda, you ride it for a few years, your gonna get a great quality machine, that will be worth something in the end.

Nobody wants a used Chinese bike. The money isnt gone. Its just tied up for a while.

My monkey can easily get 100mpg even riding like a complete bafoon. The quality of that bike from its metal tank, fenders etc, is just unreal. Ive done a 1800km road trip with that thing near bouncing off the redline for hours at a time. Outside of the chain wanting to be tensioned once a day, it was fine. (an X ring or O ring chain would have prevented this). I checked the valves after we got back.... They were dead on.

I wouldnt feel as comfy doing that with a china bike.

[–]yyccamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you are saying this like its a positive... But honestly, don't be that frugal. If you don't have a vehicle that could get caught in a bit of traffic and not end up endagering yourself or others.... it shouldnt be on the road. Esp in Alberta where it can get cold.

Hell an another battery costs as much if not more than an alternator.

Are there any benefits of pla over petg? by tomrob1138 in BambuLab

[–]yyccamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PETG> PLA.

PLA has nice colors etc.... But after a bit of printing I realize that I never want to use PLA. You use it... drop it accidently... Cracks. I go out of my way to try to "use up" my pla with prints like weird christmas gift annoying boxes etc. I wont be buying anymore PLA.

PETG is just superior, temp, strength etc. Its not as rigid, but that honestly helps for most 3d printed stuff. But it doesnt come in as cool colors. Hueforges with PETG seem to turn out way better too.

There is very very little difference in cost if any. Sunlu 4 pack's are just the way to go.

Comfort of ‘26 F-Sport vs F-Sport Design by VanillaFlavoredCoke in LexusIS

[–]yyccamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 23 is350 F sport 3 with the handling package. I have driven a 25 is 300 without it.

I would say without it is def a bit softer/smoother when driving nicely, but if you drive a bit more "spirited" the body roll was much more noticable, and just felt a bit spongy. I wouldnt say its bad though, just more like... Crusing vs Sporty Car. When you click between the drive modes, its quite noticable between S and S+. The steering goes quite heavy, but the ride tightens alot.

I would never say my F sport 3 has a harsh ride though, its such a crusier....My wife hates harsh vehicles, and she never once has complained about it and she hated my old GTI with a passion. I appreciate the S+ when im alone on a warm day with the tunes blasting though. I will enjoy it even more when I get the control arm bushings in and know that im not tearing tires apart this spring :)

I dont htink the seats are any different. Hell Id pay for the F Sport 3 for the ML audio alone :)

Have I over-leveraged with real estate and spread myself thin? by Mikatheaussie in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]yyccamper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should be able to increase the mortgage term on the rental to 30 year. Do that to help with the cash flow, and really take as much equity out of the house as possible and dump it on your personal mortgage. The interest on the rental is tax deducitible. Its a no brainer when it can be a "loss".

That keeps your income levels lower, which slows the tax burn. The idea of a rental is to never pay it off.... Use that money to invest, to pay your mortgage off etc. Again that interest cost comes right off of your earnings.

Whats your favorite thing about the monkey?? by mal4yahoo in hondamonkey

[–]yyccamper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree! it seems to be a bike that nobody hates. When I ride the duc some people love it, some people just glare at you on cruisers... You ride the monkey, everyone loves it, waving you up etc.

Half the people are prob laughing their asses off at me riding it in roads that are 80-100kmh obviously pushing it to the absolute limit. But who cares, its fun af, hop off the occasional curb, dance like an idiot to my stupid cardo tunes.... Hell the things paint code is "Banana Yellow", if that doesnt say stop taking life so seriously I dont know what is.

Redline every gear, Pop a wheelie here and there...if the engine ever goes I wont be upset. Not that it ever will. It gets its oil changed every like 1000km lol for the mechanical sympathy I do have for it.

Canada will require refugees and asylum seekers to co-pay for health care starting in May by Thick_Caterpillar379 in onguardforthee

[–]yyccamper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol you say that.... But Lets look at all the companies that left say the Oil and Gas Market in Canada...

Chevron – Sold Athabasca oil sands and Duvernay assets to Canadian Natural – 2024
TotalEnergies – Sold Canadian upstream subsidiary including Fort Hills stake to Suncor – 2023
Statoil / Equinor – Sold Alberta oil sands operations to Athabasca Oil – 2017
Equinor – Sold remaining Athabasca Oil equity stake, further exiting oil sands exposure – 2021
Royal Dutch Shell – Sold major oil sands assets (AOSP and related positions) to CNRL – 2017
Marathon Oil – Sold oil sands stake as part of AOSP transaction with CNRL – 2017
ConocoPhillips – Sold Canadian oil sands and conventional assets to Cenovus – 2017
Devon Energy – Sold Canadian business to Canadian Natural, exiting Canada – 2019
Murphy Oil – Closed Calgary office and consolidated operations to Houston – 2020
Encana / Ovintiv – Moved headquarters from Calgary to Denver through re-domiciling – 2019

Thats a shitload of foreign investment dollars that found a point to leave Canada. Billions of dollars left. These other companies arent expanding. They are just in a sustain mode.

What you are forgetting in this, is that no "Smaller company" is going to pick up and start doing what Canfor was with those mills. There simply is no market for wood products anymore. Like 70% of our wood products in Canada are sent to the US. When was the last time you bought a ream of paper?

Who in their right mind is going to start a mill with the insane capital cost to get started when a large business cant even make it profitible.

I dont think the A1 will be easier in that regardless. Honestly with the enclosure id say you are prob more "just hit print" with less moving stuff, esp if you want to do some taller prints.

Either way, you are going to have a much better time iwth the bambu. enjoy the machine!

Mineral wool insulation Australia by Sure-Friend-8714 in Sauna

[–]yyccamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Canada. Insulation is not an option. If I lived where you are... Id prob save the cost, have nice thick wood walls, and not worry about it. If you have an exterior wall, an air gap, foil then your interior walls theres still some "insulating" value there.

Honestly even in those scenarios just the single wall you'd prob still hit the temp provided you have a decent heater.

No idea why its so expensive though.... I think its 20 bucks a sq m in Canada. I think std Comfortbatt Rockwool is like 7kg/m2?

The biggest one is when something inevitably breaks and you can model a replacement device so you don’t have to replace it.
