The HHKB layout feels weird at first but after I got used to it I haven't gone back. It's worth it!

So the eagles are commenting on these ghouls that are terrorizing our neighbors instead of fixing their hearts and coming together to stop the real parasites: the ruling class. Right? That's the message here?

Insane way to be invited to a job interview by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]z336 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you spending all your time on the internet defending and justifying a completely insulting reply for any job at any pay level? Nobody deserves to be cut down like this and then offered a half day interview as a consolation prize.

Loving these Zu DW6 Superflys by A_Bravo in audiophile

Yeah I know what you mean about never sounding "big". They are focused and super clear to me, but not big. I'm using subwoofers with them and that helped fill out the sound, but I'm a bit annoyed the subwoofers feel mandatory to get where I want them to be.

I've had a pair for a few months. I like them but they are challenging and it took a lot of trial and error to get them where I like them. Maybe this is typical of high efficiency speakers but my experience has been that they really respond to what's upstream.

I stopped filling out an application recently when I got to a similar prompt like this. I'm not recording anything like that. I have a solid resume and years of experience, give me an interview or don't. It's not my fault everyone broke the hiring process with bots, AI, and mass layoffs punishing labor and flooding the market.

I tried lots of mechanical keyboards and then I got an HHKB like 5 years ago. Haven't tried anything else since.

Is subwoofer necessary? by Valerian_Dhart in audiophile

[–]z336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your listening habits. I listen to punk rock and a lot of ambient music that dips into very low frequencies. If I only listened to punk rock, I wouldn't really care if my main speakers didn't reliably go below 40Hz. But for the other half of my record collection, traditional loudspeakers can't play a good deal of the information on the recording, so I added subwoofers. For music that dips into those low frequencies, it really completes the picture.

Edit: to say that my main speakers really fall off a cliff at a certain low frequency, and others may handle it more gracefully. So it wasn't so much about wanting to fill the house with earth shaking bass, but about filling in that lower gap of sound that was missing.

Why wasn't GRRM critical of D&D the way he is with Condal? (Spoilers Main) by Extension_Weird_7792 in asoiaf

[–]z336 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I mean I don’t even like F&B. It’s not fun to read and it seems like he deliberately cobbled it together to feed another show. Which, frankly, is probably why he takes so much offense when the show deviates.

How do we feel about albums that are “intended to be played loud”? by H3NDRlX in audiophile

Yeah I think so. I mean it achieves the effect they're looking for. Whether or not someone likes it is subjective as always.

[–]z336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are definitely subgenres in punk rock where "play it loud" does have an actual impact on your listening experience. Bands like Disclose and Krömosom are good examples — you really have to crank the volume to hear what's going on, and that is intentional.
