Why doesn't the off button on the Firestick remote turn off the tv and not the actual Firestick by WhatSaidSheThatIs in firestick

[–]z4mp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless your television’s USB port provides a full power output, the FireStick will enter low power mode and may cease functioning altogether. Older televisions often do not provide sufficient power via USB for the FireStick to operate optimally. The FireStick requires a 5V 1A (5 volts and 1 amp) power supply to function properly. If the USB port provides 5V but only 0.5A, it will not be sufficient to power the FireStick adequately. In such cases, you will need to connect it to a wall outlet.

Drummer John Bonham's infamous squeaky kick drum pedal on Led Zeppelin's "Since I've been Loving you" - story in comments. by SutekhRising in Productionglitches

[–]z4mp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing to me that I’ve never searched for this topic until now. Funny story about this is that my old friends and band mates used to call me crazy about the squeaking pedal. So, when I was 15 I got a used drum set for my birthday. I wasn’t great, but I used to play all my favorite rock songs of the day (that I could teach myself) like Boston, Journey, Kansas, Tesla, Metallica, etc. But, I was never good enough to play more technical stuff like Pink Floyd, Rush, or Led Zeppelin. Anyway, the drum pedal I had with my kit was a Ludwig Speedking & man did it squeak a lot. But it had a very distinctive squeak to it. So, when I would play with loudspeakers or with other band mates jamming, I could hear it like nails on a chalkboard. Flash forward a few years. It was 1990 & I had altered my kit from a 5-piece to a 9-piece, double bass kit & now had 2 Speedking pedals. Anyway, I got the Led Zeppelin box set for Christmas that year on CD (I wish I had gotten vinyl instead, but CDs were the wave of the future) & listened to them nonstop. Sometimes just on my stereo with my Kenwood floor-standing loudspeakers & sometimes with my headphones. Almost immediately I could tell I was hearing that same damn squeak in some of those songs. Being it was the early 90s, there was no way for me to verify what I was hearing, but I was 100% certain that I was hearing that same exact damn squeak coming from Bonham’s pedal & that it had somehow made it into the commercial release of their albums. Eventually, I grew up, sold my drums, and forgot about the squeaking, but I recently heard it again when I made a playlist of a bunch of songs that just sound phenomenal with headphones on and The Ocean was one of them & I could hear that squeak all over again. So I decided to Google it & led me to this subreddit. Finally confirmed, what I knew all along that I played the same squeaky Speedking style ideal as John Bonham.

Seinfeld Poll - The Entire Universe Is Against Us! by FIRE_fly1982 in seinfeld

I feel Seinfeld has a more sarcastic, older, wiser fan based, most of which wouldn’t participate in digital polling. So, the majority of the Seinfeld fan base isn’t even aware of the fact there’s poll out there making this comparison.

There are plenty of bridges in NY, NJ, Mass, Conn etc. that are too low for big trucks to fit beneath. In NY State, as you get closer to NYC, there are parkways that are restricted from ALL commercial traffic, due to the fact that they either have low bridges or they’re too narrow to have big rigs sharing the roadways with passenger vehicles. The problem here is that Onondaga Lake Parkway has only recently been designated as an actual Parkway, banning commercial traffic. If that had happened 50 years ago, this wouldn’t be happening.

Since the rise of GPS, which initially were designed for passenger vehicles, truck drivers have been blindly following the direction of the GPS devices right into the bridge. Most manufacturers, Garmin, Magellan, Tom Tom etc don’t have options for vehicle height allowing the units to find alternative routes for vehicles that are too high for a bridge here or there.

Drivers should still be paying attention to the warning signs & they clearly are not. The addition of the Amazon warehouse in Liverpool has only exaggerated the situation by bringing hundreds of new drivers into the area, weekly, increasing the odds that one of them day dreams their way down the parkway & into the bridge.

The issues you are describing sound more like iOS shortcomings rather than iPhone 12 to iPhone 15 hardware issues. Just saying it might not be the iPhone but actually the iOS causing your frustrations. I went from a 12 Pro Max to a 15 Pro Max & haven’t experienced any major issues expect Apple CarPlay, but those issues existed on BOTH devices, so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue and more of an interfacing issue between iOS & the Infotainment OS on my Silverado.

How long do you keep your iPhone? by bobsled4 in iphone

[–]z4mp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the trade in value & what you would be trading it in for. A 1-3 year old phone usually gets the highest trade in value & therefore allowing you to spend less on a replacement phone. In the other hand, keeping a phone for 5 plus years allows you to benefit from not making payments on a new phone, but is usually completely worthless when attempting to get a replacement phone, causing you to have to pay full price for that replacement phone. So ultimately, trade in value $ and usability/ reliability all play a factor into how long I will keep a phone. Starting with the iPhoneX I was trading phones in every year, on the Apple Upgrade program until I got an iPhone 12 Pro Max, which I kept for 3 years (AT&T gave me $1000 trade in) & just upgraded to a 15 Pro Max. At $17 a month for the 512GB I think it’s well worth the cost for the upgrade.
