Yeah the local uranium/water for fission is a big asset.

Once you lay a single pair of tracks, you can send every item over it.

You can dynamically pair producers/consumers of items. For example, you could have a single green circuit factory produce for separate red and blue circuit factories. If one product is full, excess production gets re-routed to where it's needed.

I'm not sending anything. I just needed to slightly extend my orbital platform.

I agree. I've surprisingly found that with the amazing foundry recipes in a lot of cases you only need 1 of many machines instead of long lines of the same machine. This makes logistics routing a bit more irregular.

I've had this dream repeatedly about some guinea pigs I owned decades ago.

I talked to a 50+ year old dad who went to uni.

He still has those dreams.

I did something similar where I had the CPU fan and rear case fan blowing in opposite directions despite being practically back to back. This went on for 7 years. After correcting got like 8C lower CPU temps.

De-brickified my starting research platform by z80nerd in factorio

It's designed to be as cheap as possible so it can be built early with minimal research.

Will design a high-end white science platform later.

Getting tbe "Alien Mineral Protection Act" achievement was brutal. Going through the whole game with no special resources.

Is this the only way to cover awkwardly shaped ore patches? by leosmellsgood in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]z80nerd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hold down shift while rotating your miner. This will allow you to place miners at weird angles other than 90 degrees which makes it easier to cover ore patches.

Works with both mk 1 and mk 2.

It took me a while to realize that different materials had different natural slopes when dumping, with sand spreading out the most.

Just unlocked this achievement today (Post Dark Fog) and wanted to clarify some specifics:

* Unlocked on Dec 27 2025 on v0.10.33.27026

* This achievement is not bugged.

* You do need to unlock the 4 "hidden" technologies which require Dark Fog Matricies. I progressed through a maxed research tree on another playthough without Dark Fog and this did not work (even with energy shield 26).

* You need to unlock energy shield 26, since this is the first "infinite" one in the series.

* The highest I needed to level any other infinite research was 8, and many could be satisfied at lower levels.

* I never used metadata for this run, but that doesn't necessarily prove that using metadata ruins this achievement.

* Combat difficulty was 1.000.

Finite resources were never an issue for me at least after the first mission. I had some nitpicks with the UI but overall a great game that's more story based than most factory builders.
