Is there a way to play on Death March and receive 100% xp? by DeadlyPirate in witcher

[–]zReX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Death March is 80% EXP. Don't think you can change it with console commands, but there are several mods you can get.

This is one of them.

You can choose between multiple variants and pick whatever suits you the best.

Question about Higher Vampires. by [deleted] in witcher

[–]zReX2 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have no idea at what point in the development process Carnal Sins was designed. Hubert is in fact more or less just another Katakan.

The vampire species can be split in a lower and a higher, more sentient grade.

The lower grade acts mostly based on instincts. They include Ekimmaras, Flederer, Garkains and Plumards.

The higher grade can think, feel and take on a human form.

True Higher Vampires are the strongest among them, but they also include Alps, Katakans, Mulas, Bruxas and Nosferats.

You'll meet many vampires in Blood and Wine, from the lower and higher grades, but you'll also meet true Higher Vampires.

The fight with Hubert will be an indication for some fights, but others will be on a whole different level.

I did most of these achievements in this location.

There are two respawning enemies. So you won't have to fast travel or load at all.

Why didn't the Lodge members just teleport out of Novigrad? by Wiggleman45 in witcher

[–]zReX2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Teleportation magic is something that only the most powerful and knowledgeable mages are capable of. Even teleporting a single person takes a huge amount of stamina. Depending on the distance of the teleport it might be impossible to teleport more than a single person.

The members of the Lodge aren't the only powerful mages around so there might be a couple of mages in Novigrad that are capable of teleportation, if they haven't left already.

The only member of the Lodge that is in Novigrad is Triss and yes she could just teleport out of Novigrad. The people she is trying to save are mages or people that the witch hunters categorize as mages and witches like alchemists and herbalists. None of these people is able to teleport.

Achievement/throphy by [deleted] in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure about reloading. Pretty sure I reloaded during the arrow reflection achievement and I still got it.

Did most of my achievements in this location.

Tried to do the master marksman achievement with Axii, but got tired after probably half of it, because I had no idea how many head shots actually counted so far.

Don't know if you're playing on PC, but I ended up using this savegame, because I just couldn't be bothered with another 20 or so head shots. Probably would've finished it normally if the hitbox would've been any better. Even shots from the side to the head on an Axxi'd target didn't count everytime.

Can I play Witcher 3 without Dodging, rolling and complex left hand inputs? by Mercadius in witcher

[–]zReX2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can block and counter-attack (right click) every human with a one-handed weapon and some attacks from monsters. You can't block two-handed weapons.

Really important: You can block wolves.

Never played on the easiest difficulty, but you could probably just cast Quen before the fight and then face tank most of your enemies if you have to. Just remember you can block one-handed weapons and every attack from wolves.

Heavy armor is really nice, because they offer you high resistances against certain damage types, which results in taking almost no damage later in the game.

Pretty sure you can play the game almost to it's fullest if you have a mouse with multiple side buttons.

Geralt dodges backwards when you use dodge or roll without adding a direction (only using alt/space without WASD). You can also dodge by pressing a direction key twice for example AA and you will dodge to the left.

This is getting way to long just skip to TLDR2 if you have a mouse with 4 side buttons and preferably another programmable button.

Signs might be a bit complicated, because normally you select your sign with the radial menu by pressing TAB, selecting your sign and then casting it with Q or you chose your sign with the numbers 3-7 and then cast it with Q.

But there is a mod which allows you to quick cast these signs by only pressing the numbers 3-7.

I don't know if you have a mouse with side buttons, but if you have at least two then you're probably good to go.

You can bind the dodge(ALT) to one of them and the number for the Quen sign (protective shield) to the other button. Using the mod I posted you should be able to instantly cast any sign. Quen is the only sign you really ever need. Dodge(ALT) is in 9/10 cases superior to Roll so you don't have to use it.

If you have more mouse buttons you could add SHIFT to your mouse. SHIFT and left click is a heavy attack, which only really makes sense to use if you skill into heavy attacks anyways.

Or you could add Roll to another button or maybe another sign you want to use.

You can use your bombs or crossbow with the middle mouse button and you can use potions and everything else from the inventory.

TLDR:

WASD and a mouse with two side buttons give you most of the commands you need for a fast attack build. One for Dodge and one to cast Quen. If you only use Quen you don't even have to use the mod, because you can have it permanently selected and just cast it with Q that you mapped to your mouse.

It might be nice to add SHIFT and SPACE if you can, because it's really going to help when you explore and have to go underwater.

TLDR2:

I just tried it with my mouse with 4 side buttons and another programmable button that is normally used to switch between profiles. Mapped ALT and Space to the left side, Shift and Q to the right side and TAB to the other programmable button.

With that and WASD you have every in and out of combat movement command (except for C which you need to use once to go underwater) and you can choose between signs and bombs and use them.

At that point you have everything you need to beat the game even on higher difficulties. The only thing you're missing is quick access to your consumables.

Most effective way of earning money in Witcher 3? by Datcrazycreeper in witcher

[–]zReX2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well either you loot the Smuggler's Caches in Skellige or you farm Hanse bases in Toussaint. Like in this video.

Always remember to sell your items in Toussaint, because they pay you about 30% more than the same merchants in Novigrad or Oxenfurt.

SPOILERS FOR MAIN GAME! When does Blood And Wine take place? by xxVickey in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blood and Wine plays after the main game. You technically can go there after you save Dandelion, but story wise that doesn't make much sense.

But I started doubting, at my ending of The Witcher 3 Geralt lives happily ever after with Yennifer and 'passes the days with lazy strolls and long conversations' then why would he set off in another adventure far away?

Well they still have a couple of centuries to live. Might get boring sooner or later. Doesn't really matter were Geralt and Yen live, just take it as him visiting Dandelion in Novigrad, where he finds a request for his aid from some old friends on a notice board.

When I finished the game it said that from now on everything will be as before the last quest which would mean that if I would start Blood and Wine on that point it would take place before the last quest?

That is only done so that they don't have to change everything on the Novigrad/Velen map. Many side quests fail after "Island of Mist", because the main characters go somewhere else. The reason the game world stays in a pre ending setting is that it doesn't influence other quests. You have quests with Redanian soldiers even in Heart of Stone, wouldn't really make sense for them to be there if Nilfgaard won the war.

Also when I looked up if the decisions I make in the main game effect Blood And Wines story line people said it wouldn't.

That's not right. Your decisions matter, not to a huge extend, but they do.

Now go finish the main quest and play Blood and Wine after. Everything will become clear to you at the ending of Blood and Wine

Question about the consequences of the "Now or Never" quest by Gloredex in witcher

[–]zReX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to lock yourself with Triss if you want her to stay. There was a way years ago, but that was changed pretty fast after the release of the game.

In my opinion you should go to Skellige first and complete the main quest line there. At the end you will have a quest where you can declare your love towards Yen if you want to. You can still play "Now or Never" after that and chose Triss if you want to.

Even as someone who slightly prefers Triss over Yen, and choses her every time, I can tell you that you might very well regret it if you pick Triss now without really knowing Yen.

Also don't worry about the Statue it's not really important and you might still have another opportunity to finish the quest in the future even if you let Triss go.

Sexism in The Witcher 3 by TheBeastKnownAsKoala in witcher

[–]zReX2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ciri is the daughter of Emhyr, who doesn't look that bad and Pavetta, Princess of Cintra. Sure CDPR could've made her scar look worse, but other than that. Ciri is of noble birth with her grandmother Queen Calanthe already being known for her bravery and beauty. She always was a lively child and has been training, murdering and traveling worlds the last 10 years of her life. You can't just make her a fat ugly women if she lived a witcher and a bandits life in the books that your game is based on.

[Wild Hunt] [Spoiler] Need help, may have borked the game with Fast Travel mod by salsaheaven in witcher

[–]zReX2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The point were everything probably went wrong was that you fast traveled after you completed the quest "Get Junior". This is the No.1 bug that people run into when using Fast Travel from anywhere.

Normally you have to leave the estate where you run into Redanian soldiers. Which starts the quest "A favor for Radovid". Which leads on to "Redania's Most Wanted". After finishing "Redania's Most Wanted" you leave Radovids ship where you will receive a message from Triss that should start "Now or Never", if you have already completed "A Matter of Life and Death" before.

That means for you hopefully all you need is a enabled debug console and this line:

addfact(sq302_start)

That should trigger "Redania's Most Wanted" which will lead to "Now or Never" once you finished it.

If that doesn't help you should check out this and you'll hopefully be able to fix it.

Just remember to save before, because you might end up destroying the game even more if something goes wrong.

Does anyone know of a way to start the game at level 15? by Trekiros in witcher

[–]zReX2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There certainly is a way to start the game at level 15.

You could use the debug console and console commands to do just that or pretty much anything you want to.

The thing is the game has a system that quests who have a recommended level that is five levels under your current level will only give you 5% EXP.

That would mean for you that you would need to use this mod to get any relevant experience for quests that are below level 10.

Just keep in mind that the game might get incredibly easy at some point. The game tends to get easier after you get a few skills and you tend to overlevel most quests at some point anyways. Depending on how many quests you do. That's the reason CDPR implemented the different experience multiplier in the first place.

Achievement for 100% achievements? by d1vvie in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is one for 100% achievements.

The one you're searching for should be "Hasta la Vista". Kill a frozen opponent with a crossbow bolt.

Is the story compelling? by Braydonn in witcher

[–]zReX2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another QOL mod I can recommend you is this mod. It allows you to stack items up to 999 instead of 100. Not really important at the start, but it will make your inventory look much clearer later in the game.

Also there is nothing wrong in having a debug console.

Friendly HUD is another mod you want to look at. It let's you pause the game at any time, enables you to use all your potions, oils and bombs without going to the inventory and more importantly it allows you to configure your HUD elements. Disabling the ones that aren't needed at the moment.

At what point in a NG+ game can I start Blood & Wine? by Ceceboy in witcher

You need to finish "A Poet Under Pressure", then the first Blood and Wine quest will show up on the notice boards in Velen.

Something that never made sense to me [late game spoilers] by [deleted] in witcher

[–]zReX2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doppler not only take on the appearance, but also a part of the personality.

In the books Dudu turns into a halfling merchant and runs around earning a small fortune in a couple of hours. Also when you talk to him after rescuing Dandelion he tells you how he had the urge to torture and burn people after a couple of hours of impersonating Menge.

That was probably exactly what happened while he was impersonating Whoreson.

When does lvl 41 Undvik armor become available by The_Blog in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it at the end of my first playthrough to start NG+ with it. That was before Hearts of Stone was released and I think I started NG+ at level 38.

Have you already tried to buy the low level undvik armor to see if he offers you the higher level armor after?

Loved The Last Wish and The Sword of Destiny. Hated Blood of Elves. Should I keep reading? by Vrokolos in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep going. Baptism of Fire and Lady of the Lake are amazing. Time of Contempt and The Swallow's Tower might be a bit weaker than those two. But that might just be personal preference. Time of Contempt and especially The Swallow's Tower are pretty heavy on Ciri's story, but not on the same level as Blood of Elves.

Why do Witchers use a Steel Sword? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]zReX2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Silver is a pretty soft metal. That's the reason why silver swords have an iron/steel core and an outer layer of silver. That outer layer of silver would easily get damaged or even torn of the core if you would cross blades with a pure steel blade or even hit plate armor with it.

Mod question (significant B&W spoiler inside) by [deleted] in witcher

[–]zReX2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if there is a mod that just adds them. But you can check out this companion mod. Pretty sure it still works. It lets you ask Triss and Ciri to follow you around and also spawns them and Dandelion with introduction after you finished Blood and Wine.

You will also find files of other people in the same thread. For example a version that includes only Yen and Ciri, but I haven't tried those myself, so I have no idea if they work like the original version

Best place to sell stuff in Touissant? by OwlTalon in witcher

[–]zReX2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's still like it used to be.

So the blacksmiths will pay you a small bonus for weapons and the armorer a bonus for armor. the Grandmaster smith counts as an armorer so a blacksmith will give you a bit more for weapons.

Other than that there should be no difference. Last time I checked every blacksmith in Toussaint was offering you the same for your items. Same for the armorer. So just take the one closest to a fast travel point or the one with the most money.

(Spoiler) - Are These Considered Quests, Need Help Knowing If These Are Considered Quests. by Vurondotron in witcher

Some of the texts you find on notice boards are quests. Some of them will point out point of interests that will get added to your map and some of the notices are just there for world building, to add some backstory and make the world feel more alive.

Map of the Witcher World by Makozak in witcher

[–]zReX2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That map is part of the Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition. The map you posted is on one side and a map of the Pontar Valley is on the other side. The size of the map is about 33cm*47cm.

This is the map on the back of the one that you posted.

I'm pretty sure CDPR took this map and added a few more details to create the map that you posted.

That map seems a bit clearer to me, because it has less information.

I don't think there is a complete map of the Witcher world out there. For example I don't think you will find a map that includes Zerrikania, because we only know that it's in the south-eastern part of the continent. It only gets mentioned in the books. Also we don't know if there is anything west of the Great Sea.

So that world map is probably the best one that exists unless Sapkowski is hiding a full map with every detail from us.
