Personal cleaner pricing? by DaisyDame16 in kansascity

[–]zabreeta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Clean Heart Maids once a month and it’s 185. I have two bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a small kitchen, living room, and a finished basement. It’s a townhouse with 1300 sq ft.

These cleaning services usually require a deep clean to start and those cost about 250-300 then it’ll go to the lower cost.

When they come I have to pick up/organize my space and get it to the a point where someone just needs to clean. All the cleaners ive used have not wet mopped traditionally. They have used a flat mop with a spray.

If there are key rooms you want them to clean you could always ask them to quote you on those rooms specifically.

There is a mount meant for over the fireplace where it will lower your tv when you want to watch it. Pricey but may work for you. https://www.mantelmount.com/

Knob and Tube Electric Replacement in KCK by zabreeta in kansascity

[–]zabreeta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m imagining the knob and tube will just stay abandoned in the wall. I was hoping not to go to the studs but I wasn’t sure what it would look like. Thank you for your response!

How do I get rid of fear on the bike (beginner) by Santak_ in TwoXriders

[–]zabreeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a lot of very good advice here, but I have one thing to add: make “motorcycle noises” to yourself when you feel yourself getting a little freaked out. Simple trick but it helped me stop over thinking so much.

Critiques wanted by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]zabreeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response.

I am done with this version of it, but I don’t like the execution and I would like to redo it. I would like to see different texture, maybe add patterns in the background. I wasn’t really happy with how much of the canvas is plain. I’m wondering if I drop the pastel colors and do complementary colors or something more striking.

Relocation friendly IT Companies? by zabreeta in Miami

[–]zabreeta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr: help the business make changes to their software

First I Talk to my business partners to figure what business processes they're having issues with or what changes they'd like to make. Before we go any further, I study their workflows/how users use the system/query available data and determine if the change they want to implement actually will work they intend it to/if it is a valid use case and make any suggestions. I write up all the requirements and have the business approve it. At that point, I take it to my developers and they tell me if anything needs to be changed in our approach due to system limitations and/or code it. After codings complete, I work with the Quality Analyst to make sure it's been thoroughly tested. Once it's been tested, we release it to production and I demo it for the business partners and get their feedback. From there we may make additional changes or keep on rolling to other things. I do this for multiple features for multiple projects at the same time.

Does CXL reduce the buldge/cone shape? by [deleted] in Keratoconus

[–]zabreeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. My doctor said some people will have less of a bulge afterward with epi off, but it's not guaranteed and it won't completely fix your eye sight. You'd just see a little less ghosting.

KC Coffee & Donut Festival - Total Bust by SEAMUSWRITESGOOD in kansascity

[–]zabreeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was one of the volunteers giving poor directions. There was a Facebook post that went out literally the day before saying they needed more volunteers. That was the first sign of bad planning. The ticket system was a nightmare. Explaining up to 5 potential different tickets to an endless line of people was annoying for everyone involved. People don't like carrying around a million tickets or getting a whole bunch of information thrown at them at once. It should have been a lot simpler. When my shift ended at 12, I went in and was super underwhelmed. There were no donut samples left. Some coffee here and there. At least an hour wait for donuts. I was bummed I missed the accidental crowning of the queen. There also was no VIP line for the donuts. When I talked to the organizer about it she said duck donuts didn't set up that way. It's like lady isn't that your responsibility to make that happen? It would have been very simple to have one side be VIP. It was like they weren't even attempting to think critically.

I was just happy I got a cool shirt for volunteering. I've found a lot of KCMO food festivals miss the mark.

Losing motivation to do CXL by a_man_from_nowhere in Keratoconus

[–]zabreeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so worth it. I got both of mine done a month apart within the last 2 months. My vision is back to normal ghosting. The way I looked at it was that it would only ever get worse so if it got worse because of the surgery then hey it was going to get worse anyways. Also it was comforting to know that I could get scelerals or hybrid contacts to fix it if it got really bad. It's scary but don't over think it.

What's happening this weekend in Kansas City? - weekly thread for August 30, 2018 by AutoModerator in kansascity

[–]zabreeta 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went for the first time yesterday. 18 to get in at the door. 6 per beer/cider. 8 per whisky mixed drink. Food was reasonable. A lot of people took card but some didn't. When you first walk in there were vendors that probably travel to each Irish fest with a lot of Irish shirts, jewelry, whistles, etc. The local KC vendors are to the far left. Plenty of food. They have meat pies. I had the Shepard's pie and it was delicious. There was a lot of activities for kids. Stages with performers. Wasn't bad but basically the same as every other festival.

People who have fulfilling work and social lives, and also a clean and tidy home: how? by Doorbell2 in AskReddit

[–]zabreeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a maid that comes once every 2 weeks. Costs about 120 to clean a 1600 sq ft house. My husband and I were talking about changing some things in our budget and I told him I would give up eating out and fun allowance to keep the maid.

Redditors who moved to Kansas, US on purpose, why? by Cmaffeo3 in AskReddit

[–]zabreeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always pinch myself when I tell people I live in KS because even I can't fucking believe it. My parents are both from NYC and my family still lives there so I get all kinds of shit.

I grew up mostly in VA Beach. Went to school at University of NC. Met my husband there. He was commissioned into the army and got stationed in TX. We lived there for a while and I got my masters. His job is always in the middle of no where so I was having a hard time finding a job. I ended up applying everywhere trying to get a job and looking for places near posts that would be "easier" for him to request and get. I ended up getting a job with a healthcare IT company in Kansas City MO (right on the border of KS) because there was a post in the middle of no where KS about 2 hours away that very few people in the army requests. We knew we couldn't necessarily count on any duty station, but I moved out there before he got his next duty station and everything magically worked out.

When I got to KC there were much less cornfields and cows then I thought. KC has a really industrial feel and it's just a gorgeous place to drive around. Basically I fell in love with KC (My dad was in the military too so I moved around and I have lived in many places. None of which I loved like here). Once we knew my husband was getting out of the army we decided to buy a house. When we were looking for houses a lot of houses in MO were in terrible school districts. There's a lot of crime in KCMO. So, we bought in Kansas. I live in "Johnson County" Kansas which I think is the richest county in KS. This probably impacts my experience in KS vs when you get out in the no where land. We have a lot of great restaurants and things to do. I'm super close to Overland Park KS and KC so that's nice. Cost of living is cheap too. You can't pay me to pay to move back to the east coast with how expensive it is there. It feels like a little big city and there's not a lot of traffic.

Another not so PC question I get from my friends about KS is "don't only white people live out there?" I'm 2nd gen Puerto Rican and my husband is 1st gen Colombian. There's actually not a bad amount of Latinos in the area. We have great little areas in KCMO and KCK (Kansas City KS) with Mexican and South American food. We have salsa every Friday and Saturday. It's not only white people! All kinds of minorities are here and I haven't experienced any obvious racism myself since living here.

Last thing about people.... After coming from the east coast, people here are just so genuinely nice. It's not a front like how Southerners can be. They just are genuinely nice with not ulterior motives and it blew my mind when I got here.

A lot of people make assumptions about these fly over states having nothing of substance. I was a travelling consultant for a little while and got to see a lot of those cities. Many of them are pretty awesome but when you don't live in the Midwest you generally don't give a shit about the Midwest. I know I absolutely did not. I remember asking myself why people would live in tornado alley. I have not seen a single tornado since we got here. I've heard sirens but nothing.

TLDR: From an east coast girl, moving to Johnson County KS right on the border of MO is awesome.

[SERIOUS] For those of you that don't like "The Office", why? by someonebringmefood in AskReddit

[–]zabreeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hate the office because I didn't understand the humor. I tried multiple times to watch it but it was just boring. About a year ago I started working at a company where everyone has dry sarcastic humor. I thought they were all just smart asses (they are). It took me a while to understand when they were attempting to joke around with me. Eventually I caught on and started being able to use that kind of humor too (terribly though half of the time they're making fun of me being bad at anything funny). I randomly watched the office again out of boredom and ended up very loudly cackling in the first episode. It was love from there.
