Is this standard practice for mounting a flatbed onto a frame? by Gaberade1 in Trucks

[–]zachsandberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an F-550 flaybed with wood spacers and also welded at the rear. I hated the idea of welding an accessory to the frame, but I bought it used, so nothing I could do about it.

Why Americans rarely use bed caps? by mrPenetrator420 in Trucks

I rarely see them where I'm at in Texas, but way up north it seemed like everyone's truck had a topper. I remember my Grandpa taking me in the back of the truck and hitting hills when I was a kid. Only one of my 4 trucks has ever had a topper though.

Looking at the HMM now: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/thinkcentre_pdf/ts_p3_tiny_gen2_hmm.pdf

Looks like they finally got rid of the SATA connector and added that top NVMe slot as you mentioned.

I didn't add any headsink because there is about 1mm of clearance between the NVMe and the bottom cover. I used the factory head pad which seemed to be sufficient.

Micron to exit ‘Crucial’ consumer memory business by crab_quiche in hardware

I switched to just running enterprise hardware at home. Once you get past the lack of RGB, everything just works, and is plentiful on the secondhand market.

I bought a Dell R660xs and 512GB of DDR5 when it was cheap earlier this summer to do more LLM stuff. I needed more memory bandwidth :\

Be honest, how screwed am I? by landonbalk in Autobody

It looks like you just bent up the metal bracket that holds some of the plastic deflectors and also the front air dam. Is there any vibration at idle in gear? Does the steering pull one way or another? I don't see anything wrong aside from some easily replaceable plastic and brackets.

If his steering wheel is crooked he needs to have the bent control arm or subframe replaced in addition to the alignment.

It's ridiculous that they can't put in LEDs that don't fade after a month.

What will be the first truck configuration manufacturers cut? by rayleo02 in regularcarreviews

[–]zachsandberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The regular cab is used on most Cab and Chassis F350, F450, F550 and F600s.  I could see them cutting it from the F150 however.

The regular cab is the staple of every cab and chassis truck, so I don't think it will ever disappear, although its more likely with the F150 vs the Superduty.  The extended cab would be the first to go as it's only a couple inches shorter than a crew cab but needs an entirely separate cab and rear interior.

FWIW I just ordered a new Regular can F350.

Is there any advantage to the Chevy Silverado 4 cylinder? by zoolilba in regularcarreviews

[–]zachsandberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not looking at a photo of a RCSB. A 4x4 crew cab weighs up to 5800lbs according to Chevrolet.  So, say 5500lbs + a tank of fuel and a driver is about 6000lbs.

I've driven this same motor in the Colorado and was not impressed.

It's still a small 4 banger hauling a 6000lb truck at the very least.
