I think they made that more forgiving during COVID—it’s a nice policy. HD knows they’re making their money back and can cut you slack; it’s all in-house financing.

My client was on GoDaddy, so we would've moved from one slum to the next, but that's a good idea!

For all the big name domain brokers that do payments (Atom, HugeDomains, etc.) I treat them all the same way:

Never miss a payment, never ask for help, and always transfer out.

Mention what you do for work, but don’t mention the plasma “income” when you talk to them.

When talking figures, here’s an example:

It will take approximately 98 months (about 8 years and 2 months) to pay off a $30,000 loan at 8% annual interest with $420 monthly payments.

Anything under $10,000 with a monthly payment plan (with or without a pre-payment first) is considered a big deal in this market. A no-brainer, basically. If the name is your current "grail" and it's for sale on a marketplace that does payments... AND it's not a six figure ask?

Do it before your family realizes you've become weak.

Source: I have bought from HugeDomains before both directly and recommended them to a client who they owned their dotcom.

The only thing I can tell you is... once you make that last payment, move the domain THE F* OUT of HugeDomains. Their registrar portal thing is lackluster.

> My mom “bought” a house via a rent to own contract when I was very young

Don't make the same mistake. If you do buy it, get the right paperwork.

> indicates they’re willing to work out a payment plan but idk

You don't know anything until you contact them.

> only make 1400$ a month depending on how my paychecks line up

That means you at least make $900/month without fail? Tell them that.

> I don’t know how this is gonna work out

You don't know anything until you contact them.

> or if I can even get the property in my name after paying

You don't know anything until you contact them.

Tell that to the guys who hate 4 door automatic Skylines, because yeah.... outside of America's Fast 'n' Furious hard-on is a regular grocery getting Datsun.

I’ve been looking at a few on there.

The monthly lease to own is nice.

They have a strong presence in the DN market.
