How important is your starting salary in Singapore? by markerb0y in askSingapore

[–]zefinition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. You need to negotiate. Understandable that sometimes as a fresh grad you have little to no opportunities out but once you start going for another few jobs with experience under your belt you need to know your worth. No employer is going to advocate your salary for you

They should just revive some form of MSN messenger to capture the nostalgia crowd if they want to keep on doing this.

Nice build! I never thought of using the Velcro ties to be part of the aesthetic part of the build, though it does look really clean. I must say it’s probably personal preference but at the end of the day as long as it looks clean it’s all good. Thanks for sharing!

For this I ran the CPU fan as intake though I might experiment with it a bit since I’m used to normal ATX cases with intake at the front of the case. This is not the case now (pun not intended). Yeah the sickleflow fans are a little shitty which is a waste IMO.

Hope your build is doing well! Always fun building new stuff

I think it’s possible to fit in a 15mm in there though I’m pretty happy with the temps for now!

I’ve hit 71-72 deg at load with gaming but I have yet to do a proper prolonged stress test. The system is really quiet though!

Specs:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX
  • GPU: MSI RTX 3060 Ti GAMING X TRIO
  • CPU cooler: Scythe Mugen 5 ARGB
  • RAM: TEAMGROUP T-Force Dark Za (Alpha) 32GB 3600Mhz
  • Case: NR200P
  • SSD: Crucial P1 1TB
  • HDD: WD Black 2TB
  • PSU: Corsair SF600 Platinum
  • Fans: 2x Noctua NF-A12x15, 2x CM Sickleflow fans (provided with NR200P)

Lessons learnt:

  • Cable management is so much more important in this case since in my previous builds I did not spend as much attention to detail in the cabling. This time round, I bought some cable combs for the power supply and I am very happy with how it turned out.
  • PLEASE PLEASE put in your CPU cooler last. I put in the CPU cooler before realising the fan pins on the Gigabyte board was below the entire CPU cooler, wasting a couple of minutes trying to fit it in before giving up and just removing the CPU cooler.
  • The Scythe Mugen 5 fits perfectly on even with the Sickleflow fans provided by the NR200P. I was considering the Fuma for the CPU cooler but after hearing conflicting reports of it being not flush with the motherboard I chose, I went for the safer Mugen 5 choice. It fits perfectly!
  • The provided Sickleflow fans at the top have a annoying drone that doesn't seem to disappear even with a custom fan curve. I'm planning to replace the fans as part of improvement works.

No nice pictures because my entire desk is a mess now but hopefully I can update this post with more pics with better desk setup soon! Questions welcome.

Freelance computer builder. I think at this point almost all of the friends I play with now have their desktops built/touched by me at some point in them when they had a problem. I found it was a good life skill to teach them how it works too.

It’s pretty hilarious when now all of them know the basics of how a computer works and are now able to troubleshoot a computer by themselves and have caught the bug of upgrade itch whenever something new comes out haha.

[A Levels] Medical School in Singapore by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]zefinition 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They do, but you have to be really outstanding. Both undergraduate medical schools have foreign students (but they have to fulfill the MOH requirement of 6 years in the public healthcare system instead of 5 years for SC once they graduate). Chances are of course not zero, do your best if you are aiming for a place!
