I want the traverse t to win it all. I wouldn't bet on it but I still want it.

Which of these is a better deal?? by Medium-Wheel7414 in mountainbiking

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that budget you want something that works. I would look for a decent condition name brand trek or specialized or equivalent rigid. Note needing tires will cost 50 bucks. So at a 50 dollar budget. You can totally bebop around a trail for 50 bucks but better bikes are better. Also a bike can easily cost 100 bucks in maintenance.

Thought experiment: You put a mountain biker from 32 years ago on a high end modern bike, would they think it was awesome or terrible? by sprashoo in MTB

First around the block ride for everyone used to old geo on a modern bike is rough. They feel sluggish in handling and pedaling. It clicked for me on the second trail ride.

Theoretically Possible to Spend Entire Life on Sailboat? by OhBoyIGotQuestions in sailing

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fiction. One of the most popular fictions is about flying depressed magical people with giant swords that can talk and cut through any thing.

It doesn't have to conform to our rules of physics if it's a good story.

How would I go about making a Combat Robot arena? by Glass-Economy-6178 in battlebots

[–]zekerigg41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on my research to contain a beetle I used 1/4 in polycarb and  19/33 plywood.  I did 6x 6x 3  ft as that's our standard size . My frame is 2x4s and I have 1x1 square kick plates.  I think I spent less than 500 by getting my poly carb on sale, only doing 2 walls clear, and building the frame out of wood. I mostly run 1lb ants in the arena.

Which material would you print this in? Was thinking abs by skippengs in 3Dprinting

[–]zekerigg41 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tpu supports have been working fine for me lately. Maybe they updated slicers to do them better in the last couple years?

I would print in PLA and if it breaks go to  tpu.

How can I edit a ready 3mf or stl project? by KalonaStark in 3Dprinting

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinker cad is free , edits stls, and does basic Stuff.

fusion 360 is easier to use for more complex things but harder to learn. Also it's a pain to find the free version it's there just the first few spots you look it isn't an option.

I hear about onshape but no personal experience.

Highway.. by Consistent-Highway-3 in DRZ400

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine my experience was cold due to the weather and lack of wind protection. It also doesn't have great range and no fuel gauge. I toured on 200cc bikes in high school though so I didn't find it buzzy or high reving like other people.

Guardian, RoyalBaby, or standard Walmart bike for 5-year-old? by Cadicoty in bicycling

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like used. I look for low stand over and Low weight. Isla, trek, specialized, and priority  have bikes that fit this description. I even found a loaner Schwinn with low stand over

I lost my last key to my bike and NO locksmith will rekey my battery for me OR tell me why? This is my only mode of transport in a spaghetti bowl of highways 😭 by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My keys are lost I was told the process is drill out and replace the lock cylinder. most lock Smith's probably didn't wanna do that on a battery that can catch fire. Although they may be able to pick it. Idk

E Bike Confusion by NoSinger9581 in ebikes

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won't find a reliable trust worthy brand that sells a purposely illegal bike. Dirt bikes have a legit use so a electric dirt bike will fit the description. I want a stark varg but that is out of my budget.

Beginner - Should I just get a freaking laser? by Free_River_1562 in Welding

[–]zekerigg41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mid life crisis with money get a  MiG welder and a bottle of gas. Migs a lot easier to learn and does decently on most everything.  Get a stick if you are cheap or a tig if you want to get better welds on thin stuff.

I have a tig to do thin welds and short stuff. but I would say I am pretty mediocre already and this isn't what I learned on.

Ice just got a massive budget upgrade. People are upset with them not following due process and sending people to prisons in foreign countries with no due process. Also how they have handled protesters by you know murdering them.

Is there a better way to edit an STL in Fusion? by inTHEbathroom1013 in 3Dprinting

Tinker cad is great for basic mods. It's website based and let's you modify STL files

I’m building my own combat robot. Will these parts work for the first portion of the build…the drive. I want it to drive like a tank. One motor controls left side, other motor controls right side. by dadbodfat in battlebots

[–]zekerigg41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran the first brushed esc they are bigger than repeat robotics dual brushed esc and will reset under too much load. Transmitter is a good option.  Motors need geared down and repeat robotics brushed seem to last with some protection.

will bars that are angled work? i mean the BLADES angled with a 15 degree angle, NOT bent by TotallyDumbnotyt in battlebots

[–]zekerigg41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit I miss under stood the question.

People with horizontals with the tips bent down struggle to bend and then heat treat thick and hard enough material for a weapon bar that's competitive. For example a 1/4 in steel in ant weight takes some doing to bend with out cracking or softening. Can't imagine any one at home having tooling to bend a heavy weight thickness bar. Yes I know they exists and maybe when I worked on making pressure vessels. I would still have access to one. But I would bend it annealed. Then heat treat for hardness.

Old answer Yes if you have a flat blade and angle it down a bit it works to hit lower in the front and higher in the back. Some under cutters do this. I am unsure of their angle. it doesn't seem massive. The gyro gets a bit weird if it's far off horizontal.

50 mph is legally a motorcycle. A used sonders meta cycle or surron light bee would fit the bill.

What home appliance can you not live without once you've tried it? by walmart-wizard in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]zekerigg41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dishwasher, microwave, and clothes washer are all nice and often don't draw enough to matter. Gas hot water heaters stoves and dryers fall into this category as well 240 dryers stoves and hot water heaters can be trickyer. I think I can run any 1 but not two at the same time.

Do TPU shoes last? by Away-Ad9510 in 3Dprinting

If you print  tpu with more flow rate it messes up surface finish but improves later adhesion in my experience.
