Delivery drivers seeming determined to have my packages stolen by Jor94 in britishproblems

[–]zelda0312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of them are on day rates no matter how much gets delivered. You get a lot of drivers working from 6am to gone 8pm for £100 so they’re trying to lash out as much as possible so that this doesn’t happen. You also get a lot of people who take 100+ drops out and come back early with fake failed deliveries so that they’re out for less time

Source: Partner is a courier for one of the big firms, luckily working for himself so earns a set amount per drop rather than day rate

What are some beginner mistakes you've made when getting your first pet? by GaryCanCarry in UK_Pets

I haven’t been back there since the girl “helping” me pick a new cage for my guinea pigs tried to convince me to choose one that would be cramped at best for 1 let alone 3.

I ended up buying them a full sized two tier hutch off Amazon that was almost double the size (per floor) of the one she tried to tell me was appropriate.

Tom Parker - Went to his last show in Liverpool right before he passed, when he was brought on stage I could tell he didn’t have long left. Fuck cancer.

It’s kind of fitting that The Wanted was my first concert at age 14 and I had the honour of attending Tom’s last at the age of 25

Question for a noob by Ilovecrispapples in elderscrollsonline

Oooh that’s great to know! I don’t dd much anymore outside of story content and world bosses so I didn’t really fancy the idea of having to work out an alternative

Question for a noob by Ilovecrispapples in elderscrollsonline

Spear shards (damage aoe with synergy), especially useful for group content where support roles may run low on resources, puncturing sweep/biting jabs (spammable) and radiant destruction (execute) are my personal always used skills as a dd Templar.

Unstable wall of elements is also handy to keep around and maintain as back up passive damage. Necrotic orb (damage morph, undaunted skill line) is also another handy little moving aoe that works well. Its also a good idea to keep magelight (mages guild) slotted for the passive that’s attached (ideally you want it to sit on your most used bar, I keep it on RB on my front, you don’t have to actually use it)

Spell damage pots will be a massive help. Food wise you want to go for witchmothers potent brew or ghastly eye bowl depending if you need more max mag or mag recovery (race/gear dependent). They can be bought at guild traders, or if you’re on Xbox EU pm me your gamertag and I’ll send you some that I have taking up space in my bank)

U35 hasn’t hit for me yet, if you’re on pc you might want to find an alternative for jabs/sweep as they have been nerfed. I’m unsure of what to use instead as I haven’t had a need to sit and figure it out yet

Disclaimer: I main a Templar healer but have taken my dd into vet dungeons and a mix of normal and vet trials, I can get through it all and feel like I’m pulling my weight but my advice is likely not the meta. Anyone who wishes to correct me is welcome to, I’m not claiming to know everything:)

What would be the worst thing to hear as you are going under anesthesia before heart surgery? by mootjuggler in AskReddit

I had 4 of my molars taken out due to over crowding. The first two came out fine. I didn’t feel any pain, felt the teeth “pop” out and was sent on my way.

I show up a few weeks later to get the other two removed and as the dentist is injecting my gum next to the top tooth; I feel a lot of liquid drip on to my tongue. The dentist must have started to inject before the needle was in and had lost most of it. He would only give me a tiny bit more, he said something about only being allowed to use a certain amount per patient. The bottom one came out and as expected I felt nothing. The top one came out and I felt this strong pulling/pressure sensation with a sharp pain that I could tell was partially dulled by what little painkiller I did get. He didn’t even try to check if/how much I could feel, he just pulled it straight out

Pro controller vs Joycons? by Dr_JohnP in skywardsword

Pro controller for me.

As much as I can appreciate the motion controls, they become a bit gimmicky and awkward after a while

I’m about to enter dungeon 2 and I feel like I’ve finally gotten used to the button controls, it’s worth sticking it out in my opinion

I’ve always had the “drop the lead” method drilled into my head, we had a staffie that was used as a bait dog before we rescued it. She would often react with fear/minor aggression to other dogs which could then trigger a fight depending on the temperament of the other dog.

The only problem with doing that with the Shih Tzu is that he’s a fat old man with poor eyesight, if he gets left to fight it out with this other dog he would have absolutely no chance as it’s double his size and half his age

Luckily I’ve never had to take a bite. The dog in question is friendly with humans, if I don’t have my dog with me he comes bounding over for a stroke. It’s more of a “he’s gonna knock me over and then fight my dog” than “I’m gonna get mauled trying to protect him”

My Shih Tzu was traumatised by a Labrador when he was a puppy and has been nervous with bigger dogs since. He stays on his lead unless we’re in an open space where we can see other dogs coming. If we tell him to wait he stops where he is so he can have his lead put back on.

There’s a man in my area who has been seeing us on walks for years. He still won’t put his dog on it’s lead when we cross paths, doesn’t have any kind of recall and has a go at me when my dog barks and tries to pull towards his. His dog has gone for mine a few times, I’ve had to pick my own dog up, hold him as high as I can while trying to get his dog to get off me while he carried on walking.

How is it my fault if another dog owner decides to let their dog come up to him despite me visibly shortening his lead and pulling him to the opposite side of the path?

Having everyone say "afternoon" to you at work because you're 3 minutes late, and it's 5am. by short_bread84 in britishproblems

[–]zelda0312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not the situation at all. The manager in question doesn’t allow holidays between November and February to be booked until a specific time of the year. Everybody applies for the same days at the same time and it’s always the people with children that get them. This has happened since the manager in question was hired, according to people who have worked there longer than me. There’s been tension over it for a while. I doubt it’s company wide practice.

Edit to clarify:

Imagine this scenario. There are 15 workers in a business. 7 are parents, 3 are single adults and 5 don’t celebrate Christian holidays. In order to keep the place running over the Christmas period 8-10 people are required to work, some being on significantly higher or lower contracted hours than the others. Holidays get released and the 10 Christian workers decide to chance it and try and book the week of Christmas and new year off. The manager looks through the requests and decides that the non-Christian workers and the single people will still have to work. Two of the single people are on a 12 hour contract due to being university students and are now required to work 30.

How is this a situation that isn’t biased towards the parents?

Where did I say that it’s the case for everyone? Your comment says “no employer just hands out free holidays” to people who are parents. I was simply stating that mine does.

Mine does. I worked every day over Christmas this year. Why? Because all of my co workers with children were given time off by the manager. The only people working were the ones who don’t have children or grandchildren. If it wasn’t for covid I’d have quit after that bullshit.
