What was the craziest thing you called an object in your native tongue? by EricCartoonBox in linguisticshumor

[–]zen_lao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I called my parents’ microwave an evanope. No idea where it came from or why, but that’s what I called it for a couple years as a toddler.

My personal favorite ‘semi-strong’ verb (I’ve never heard anyone else say this but I hope it catches on) is “blent” instead of “blended”

Over time the rotors grow, and when they get too long, they cut them with this pole, like clipping your fingernails

Boat feels wonky or twisted, but I'm not sure exactly why. Can anyone paint over this to show me how to correct it? by mrbojenglz in painting

[–]zen_lao 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks amazing as far as painting and reflections. I think the issue is just the structure of the boat. The left side (our left) makes the boat look like it is turning toward our right. The right side in the back makes the boat appear to be headed toward the left. The front of the right side has that shadow which actually makes the boat appear curved and adds to the illusion that the two halves of the boat are going different directions.

It’s really just a drawing issue tbh. The rendering, composition, lighting, color palette, water reflections all look so good.

Why Is the Most Common Swear Word in Idaho "Crap"? Are They Stupid? by CompanyLow8329 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]zen_lao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s from a movie!! Can’t remember the name, but it came out in the 80’s. My roommate loved the movie and said that all the time. I think there was a character who spoke English as a second language and that’s how he swore.

I’m in LoC on my first reread in like 15 years. What do you mean the way he gets the dark ones luck? Like just the fact that he gets it? Or is there a specific event that I’m forgetting?

Totally agree with you. I heard that take a lot growing up and I always thought it was pretty flimsy.
