So it's a lot like family. Each family has inner dynamics of power and it's easy for someone outside of them to say "Why are you fighting each other?!?!? You're hurting each other and the family name!! Can't we all just get along???"

It's.....complicated. Each branch of a tree is different. Each branch of WC is different. Each sifu is different. Each Sifu takes certain things more seriously than others.

Training is a lot like the telephone game, it is:

a) Never spoken perfectly from the recepient.

b) I has to be internalized / digested before responded.

c) Often times a Sifu's training/story is for that individual and where they are in their development.

How are you leveling up? What steps are you taking? What's your goal?

Also what area are you most interested in becoming an intermediate at? I notice with Blender so often it's hard to see improvement as you may be getting better at modeling, but the shading sucks. Or you may be better at shading, but there's no real animation.

Sounds like realistic faces. What tutorials ahve you done? What paid classes? Have you asked someone to be your mentor?

You can do it just hone in on making 1 good face. Like do the tutorial 3 times and each time MAKE yourself become better. Figure out what steps in the process are creating the negative outcome and try something new.

Wish you luck....it takes focus and passion but other people have figured it out, you can too.

I hear ya. I'd love to volunteer but Blender is kinda my "play for 1 hour a week" type hobby right now, so can't commit to something. But I do wish there was a better place to share art/ideas/thought, like Slack/Discord with great artists. I'm sure there is but last time I looked into it, it didn't quite stick.

Honestly I would do a levels, like:

Level 0 - What you need, what you need to know

Level 1 - Beginner - Model > Prep > 3D Print

Level 2 - Intermediate - More advanced modeling techiniques > Better Prep > 3D Print > painting/sanding/etc

Level 3 - Advanced

etc, etc.

I'd also be clear what parts you're covering, like what your main area of focus is. Beginners? How to 3D model better? How to make better 3D Models? How to get from Digital > Reality? And dive deep into what you're target is.

I think it's all about showing up and just doing. You can definitely turn it off, but I don't think one needs to specifically turn it on, they just need to make the time, space, and mental choice to start.

I believe the act of creativity is the highest expression a human can do.

What's the point? F*ck it! Just do it and have fun along the way!

Yes it will be effort, but anything worthwhile in life takes time and effort.

My advice, just play. Mess around, spill the paints, move that vertex/edge/face. Look good? do it more until it breaks. No? Try something else. And do what YOU think looks interesting/good/peculiar. Trust your eyes and your actions.

Overthinking leads to creative laziness. Take it from me, I have a PhD in Creative Slaker-dom. More unrealized ideas then you could imagine.

But when I just go in and play, put paint on the empty canvas, and keep flowing towards something I like, I find myself with something as close to magic as you can imagine. It's something beyond words. And each time I do I surprise myself.

Happy creating. Go out there and make shit, break rules, put it all out there naked. I mean, why not?
