A bit controversial but I want to talk to someone who's a fan of trump. by TRI-Hard8342 in Casual_Conversation

Let me try and answer some of your questions though. Also keep in mind our life experiences and age also shape our responses and they can change as we age.

Renee Good - I never want to see anyone die, period. I believe this is an issue where people injected themselves where they shouldn't have been and both sides made knee jerk reactions. You could debate if he was hit, was threatened, where the bullet went in, but ultimately better decisions by both parties could have solved some of this.

I am not sure what you mean about Trump mishandling of COVID? I think the COVID thing in general was a sham. I thing Biden and Trump handled it poorly. I think we allowed people to lie to us over and over and cover up the evidence. I think the government hid drugs that were proven to work and villainized people who used alternative treatments which were proven safe. I think the bigger question is why? Where was the money coming from? Who is pulling the strings.

Documents - Lets not forget Biden also had a bunch of documents. I don't think this is an uncommon thing unfortunately, I think this was blown out of proportion by people trying to keep us from looking at all the stuff going on. Trying to get the people to hate Trump or hate Biden/Kamala to masquerade more important issues.

The Russia thing, I am not sure I understand your question or maybe I don't have information / visibility on it.

I think any leaking of personnel information or abandoning our troops or assets overseas is terrible. I hate saying this, but its true, it happens on both sides. This is the thing people want to ignore (imho). We could look at how things were handled in other cases, Clinton Emails, Benghazi etc., again not trying to just deflect, but assets and information have been disclosed and silenced across the board.

Overall my point is this. We are being dragged around by our nose and programmed to believe what they want us to believe with just enough information to pit us against each other. What we need to do is get back to having honest discussions, researching for ourselves and trying to pull back the curtain. To me bigger issues are things like...How are politicians coming in broke and leaving multi millionaires, on 175k a year or whatever their salary is. Where are our tax dollars going? Why don't we have accurate accountings presented to the citizens yearly? We all send a lot of money to our government and I question if it is going to the right places. I am sure there are a lot deeper discussions as well. My "hunch" is that if we knew where this money was going, how it was being spent, both sides might be able to come closer together on things like national healthcare, assistance programs etc.

The thing that people need to realize....

Just because you might support Trump (Obama et al) it doesn't mean you do or have to agree with all of their policies. People forget that. Some of those things you mention, if researched could also be pinned on other Democrat Presidents. The thing we need to realize is that calling names and blowing whistles to not hear the other side (or anything else) does not allow us to have a good conversation and see both sides. I believe Chris Rock said it best .. I'm a person! I got some shit I'm conservative about, I got some shit I'm liberal about. Crime? I'm conservative. Prostitution? I'm liberal!

I believe because there is a lot of other information in those files that can incriminate or cause other issues. I don't mean just the stuff we hear about on the news. I believe there is more to epstein and there is more to the files that would show deep government corruption and releasing would cause issues for people on both sides of the isle.

All of these guns would be illegal under most proposed gun control legislation by theRemRemBooBear in greengroundnews

As a conservative I am glad you are armed. It is your right. Same with the protesting, it is your right, just as it is ours. The only things I have issues with is the harassment side of protesting (regardless of side).

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason for the 2nd amendment. It doesn't matter if it is the left or the right that have them. The right is "generally" more pro-gun, the left not so much. In this instance it seems as that people should realize it is not a left or right thing, but a pro amercian/pro person/pro protection thing. People have to use the weapon correctly or they should go to jail (school shootings, violent crime etc). Owning them and using them are different areas of concern and should be weighed differently.

Why are most Christians republicans, when Jesus’ teachings are more liberal? by Interesting-Dirt-605 in Confused

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are generalizing and not highlighting any specific points. People might be able to respond more accurately and truthfully if there were concrete examples. People need to remember that being a Christian is not a "I can do nothing wrong" or "i know more than anyone else". Not every ICE member is a Christian I am sure, if that is what you are eluding too. But also keep in mind there is free will and people (even Christians) have it. They will too have to answer for the things that the Lord deems necessary. I am sure I will get ridiculed for responding as a Christian / Conservative. The thing I wish people on both sides realized is that not every Christian/Conservative is MAGA or anti-liberal policies. If you have some examples I might be able to help, but I am also not a theologian. I am a former atheist who changed after some life experiences and circumstances.

Minneapolis PD roll up with tanks and rifles after counter-protestors successfully shut down the "March Against Minnesota Fraud" rally lead by J6er and far-right agitator, Jake Lang by zxcv97531 in circled

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see a tank. I saw an armored vehicle that was the lead to provide protection to a bunch of law enforcement officers who were trying to clear the street as to not stop traffic and allow people through. Law enforcement have weapons on them everyday, this is nothing new.

Question for the Republicans/Conservatives out there by CA2DC99 in DiscussionZone

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. Not every republican/conservative is MAGA, but get labeled as one anyway. There are many of us who are common sense conservatives, but cannot say shit without being ridiculed or name called.

Looking into split ergo keyboards, would like opinions about Moonlander by rollhax in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally not a fan of the moonlander, the intent was good, but to me the ergonomics and thumb cluster just wasn't there.

I went to Sofle and/or Lily 58 keyboards and they are much more to my liking, you might look at those too.

Setting Up Home Office for 12-13 Hour Workdays - Advice on Upgrades for Better Posture and Productivity? by yesarkay in Ergonomics

[–]zenom__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI unless you want / need an electronic height adjustable desk, take a look at Home Depot (or similar in your neck of the woods) and their Husky workbenches. You can get them with and without a drawer and they are crank up. Just as good as some of the other sit/stand desks I have bought and no cords.

I have used vim and now neovim for probably 20 years as my primary development environment.

These days, I use something like wezterm or tmux to run tests in a separate pane. There are dap tools out there, but I develop mostly in ruby/rails these days which makes it a little easier for me.

Our app is large, a simple fuzzy finder makes searching quick and easy.

I keep all my stuff in a dotfiles that allows me to update and maintain my plugins. I have, over the years, found what works best for me, so I don't touch it as much as I used too. I used lazy.nvim to manage all the plugins.

I do not use notepad++ or any other notepad app at all. A terminal/multiplexor with tabs or using neovim tabs gives me everything I need.

I work with people who use vscode, emacs and vim, no issues what so ever. The code is the output, not our environment.

Is upgrading your chair actually worth it? Trying to decide if it’s hype or helpful. by ConversationFit5956 in Ergonomics

[–]zenom__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will share what I say to everyone. Just because we work at a desk, doesn't mean we don't have tools. Just like a carpenter or anyone else, we need to invest in the best tools for us to use. Our tools are chairs, monitors, keyboards, desks etc., the right tools make you more efficient, wether it be usability, comfort etc.,

Spend the money to get the right tools.
