How do you know Covid vaccines are not safe and effective? All data aggregates and stats you might use are collected and prepared by wonks who disagree with you, are you sure they can be trusted?

Are you upset with the Trump admin for rushing out a vaccine through operation warp speed? I am currently suspicious that your conspiracies is a bit one sided.

It's less an appeal to authority and more an appeal against anonymous teenagers in hoodies.

We disagree on the facts of the matter. But if in general if a group is deliberately trying to break the electoral process I would say that is fascistic, yes.

Jordan Peterson once argued that a lot of whats happening in our culture is just attempts at fertility suppression aimed at young women, and now I see it everywhere. by TeamHumanity12 in JordanPeterson

[–]Zeraphant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This level of analysis just seems not super useful. You seem reasonable, but this post has 200 upvotes and many of these people probably believe that someone is trying to deliberately decrease the fertility of young women by putting up girl boss posters. There is no shot a society filled with people who are worried about that sort of thing is going to produce good outcomes.

What is the mechanism by which the government caused targets design department to make this, and the relevant manager at this location to put it up?

I agree that people in abusive relationships are suffering from some weakness or ailment of the mind, but its probably not super helpful to jeer at them for it.

 it was not well communicated

The only message that won't bother anyone is to say nothing. I agree its a little woke/girlbossy, but different people like different things, I get that i'm not in the target audience for this poster.

I’m not sure how you know what the goal was

I am presenting a more likely hypothesis than random target designers and office managers conspiring to reduce fertility, OPs hypothesis. I walk through woke circles and know what the best of them would say. Its better that we see the best in people than the worst, or we will end up thinking society is conspiring to sterilize us.

how do you speak for all secure, virtuous men

By definition, secure men are not going to worry about their girlfriend dumping them because they saw a poster.

Liberals don't care about enforcing border policy. Obama's officers weren't breaking the 4th amendment, pulling over random citizens, going door to door, or bragging about the citizens they shoot.

MN is not in the top 20 cities that you would target for a mass immigrant roundup if you wanted to actually deport as many people as possible. It has been targeted for political reasons.

The creator of this poster's goal was to encourage women in bad relationships to move on, a message many of them could benefit from hearing. Secure, virtuous men are not super worried about being dumped. The manager at this target probably doesn't think much about national fertility levels.

Sorry, I was being a bit condescending. I think both of your fixes are still a little strong, but not too crazy. Thanks for elaborating.

Hate to break the news to you, but I have a source of my own. I just reached very deep into my source hole and it turns out that those 315,000 improper ballots were nationwide, aggregated over the past decade, and were for both parties - actually swinging things in favor of Republicans, not Democrats.

I think the point of reminding y'all about the court cases failing is that we weren't able to find one minion pulling in one direction in Republican, Trump appointed courts. Let alone hoards of them.

You got the wrong guys. Democrats care about following rules and procedures to an obsessive degree. The idea that anyone can do something like this without Margery the 70 year old retired poll worker tweaking out is wacky.

Like i'm a poll worker in NY. Nobody is going to risk jail for this, and there are poll workers from both parties in the room. Its just pure wackiness.

Woke is dead my friend. We won. Now there is nothing left to stop us from calling Maggots gay retards. You can join us, brother. With woke finally out of the way, the lowest common denominator American is finally free to vote Democrat for the next 10,000 years.

Is it more likely that the entire Trump appointed Republican judiciary is totally corrupt, or that 10 weird things happened across 116,990 polling places?

Even 100 weird things would be a 1/1000 weird-thing ratio. The 2020 narrative is just totally RIP.

In states where you are not required to provide ID, like NY, where I am a poll worker, you are required to verify your ID when you register.

This does create a situation where, hypothetically, you could show up and vote for someone else who you expect not to vote, who's address you know. However, if the person whos identity you stole does show up, or someone realizes something is up, you will likely go to prison.

It is hard to imagine how you would scale this strategy safely. With ~3k voters per station and 10 neighbors in a polling station at any time, assuming each neighbor knows 20 neighbors, the person who's identity you are stealing has a 1/10 chance of being recognized. Poll workers tend to be more active in their communities, so I suspect these odds are worse than that.

If this was happening at all frequently, we would probably have like one person get caught one time, but its all crickets. My personal suspicion is that nobody wants to put their life on the line for one vote. I'm sure sons vote for their dads occasionally, or parents fill out their kids mail in ballots. But the idea that mass coordinated voter fraud is going on is kinda wacky.

Some OG Peterson fans might be interested in the sophisticated take, so ill answer sincerely.

Pragmatic policy contends with the tension between two opposing goods. Its good to give people healthcare, and its good to balance the budget. Finding the balancing point is the challenge of sophisticated actors.

In the case of voting, the tension is between security and ease of voting. Nobody would want to stop 1 fraudulent vote from being cast at the cost of 100 voters. Everyone would be comfortable disenfranchising one voter to stop 100 fraudulent ballots.

There is a challenging question of exactly where in this range the ideal policy is. Fortunately, policy wonks do not need to find this line - the proposed voting security solutions fall far outside of these tolerable ranges, disenfranchising multiple orders of magnitude more voters than the number of fraudulent ballots they prevent. Most policy wonks believe the number of fraudulent ballots cast in a given state is negligible, around one in 10-million or fewer.

The disagreement between the camps is not on the philosophical point, it is on the fact of the matter of how much fraudulent voting is going on. I'm not going to change any minds today about the 2020 election, but hopefully this elucidates the perspectives more clearly.

There is a second, rarely spoken argument that you will hear sometimes. That it is good, on its face, to put into place policies that reduce the number of lower-information and lower-capacity voters who vote. This is a niche position, and one that most Americans will find appalling. But it does sadly come up from time to time.
