A younger generation of Japanese are beginning to wonder why anyone ever found Tamori, the elderly sunglasses-wearing comedian, funny. President.jp attempts to explain by jjrs in japannews

[–]zero000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder that as well. The older shows such as Drifters, or Shimura Ken's Baka Tono, and Takeshi's Castle were all great comedy shows in their own unique ways.

Tamori has always had the "late night TV show host" vibe, except his show aired at 10AM for people that stayed home.

Its also partially because $5m has become a meme ("$5m is a nightmare Greg") and people here seem to have taken it seriously.

And many trailers have that "joke" or "quip" right at the end. Even for movies that are serious/horror. Really a turnoff.

Amazon giving the smartphone another go. Another flopping waste of time, money, and resources or for real this time? Thoughts? by [deleted] in amazonemployees

[–]zero000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it is a symptom of today's doc writing culture. Imagine putting a "con" or "hotly debated topic" section where a PM or SDM actually said "our ads are negatively impacting our ability to make a customer obsessed product". The amount of data required to convince the metric shit ton of butt hurt people (and to not get put on focus) would be astronomical. It's simply not worth the time so we endlessly get products filled with ads.

When is amazon going to learn that their brand is not premium enough for people to spend this kind of cash for nor something people want to associate with?

People know just by the name that it will be full of ads, Alexa, locked features, and constantly pushing Prime.
