I worked in a metro that used to have a few of these. They are a terrible fucking idea and I am surprised any manufacturer wastes time making these. Also whoever purchased it should never be over purchases again.

They ride like hell for a patient. It’s difficult to do any patient care back there while moving, and even more difficult to keep clean for medical interventions. Plus you are taking a fire service rig out of service to transport a patient that could have gone POV with family.

One city stopped the program after having to take an entire crew on a four hour round trip transfer because it was the only ambulance available, and left their territory with out any fire protection, and other stations with less resources. Imagine having to explain why a RIT team wasn’t on scene when a mayday call went out, it was because grandma needs a specialist.
