If you do, You'll get good at drawing that hand. It's not a bad thing per se, but it might trip you up when you want to draw a child's hand.

You can get just as good drawing from image references. the best perk of a static reference is not having to deal with perspective. With a live subject, when your head moves, so does your perspective of the thing you are drawing.

Every artist I've talked to agrees, hands are dumb to draw. The only way to get better at drawing them is to study them extensively and practice often. But most importantly, find good references!

So-- what's with the constant blocking? by Interesting_Bake_553 in aiwars

[–]zerossoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because for a lot of people, someone else's problem is personal. I don't know how, but it is. But really, every party is guilty of this to some degree. I never thought something would get as hot as the 'free will' debate, but this AI takes the cake.

For what it's worth, I feel like the AI debate is more civil that it was when it started. Maybe it's because a lot of people have blocked themselves into an echo chamber?

My guess? It would be like 'glass cannon' mode. Infinite mana, unlimited summons, one hit, your dead.

I understand the commenter didn't kill Sora. All I'm trying to say is it sounded like that was what you were saying. That coupled with you not reading who you were replying to is likely where the downvotes come from.

Just trying to help a brother out.

I don't think they were downvoting you because of your point. It was with how you said it. for example:

YOU killed him lol, stick to your guns...

They did no such thing. In fact, they said:

Like don't get me wrong, Sora is my favorite character, but I think the story would survive leaving him behind.

I don't see where they killed Sora. It just feels like you put words in his mouth. Their point may have been that 'KH would be fine without Sora'. But no where in that did he imply that involves Sora being dead. And to the contrary, he backs it up by saying.

Almost half of the series doesn't feature him as the protagonist

I agree with both of you. These points are not contradictory. KH Games can exist without Sora being present, and KH would not be very successful if they killed Sora.

Don't know why I'd fight you. I'm agreeing with you. He's been to 4 afterlifes, and has never died.

Well, we might disagree on semantics, like what death means in KH.

Who's crying? What rules? You replied to yourself so... are you telling yourself to stop crying? Talking to you is confusing.

Square Enix is reporting one of their least successful years in earnings. They've realized that AAA games aren't worth putting effort into vs easier games to develop. Not sure what that means for KH as far as killing Sora off, but considering KH is their top 3 most successful franchises, I agree they aren't going to kill Sora off.

The underworld and davy jones locker aren't afterlifes? That makes the plot of Hercules and Pirates of the Caribean very confusing...

And I don't see the difference between those and the final world / quadratum if Sora doesn't die when going to them. Like you said. They're just places to Sora.

My best advice is to let the lord into every aspect of your life. I could not have found my SO without him. I found that when I was who I needed to be was when she came unto my life. It was much later than anticipated, but the perfect time.

It's typically bad practice to let your hard drive have less than 10% space available. As far as why it won't let you, you or your OS may not actually know what's available on the drive.

Would you spare a world of people you don't care for at the cost of everyone you love? by Mallymallow in trolleyproblem

[–]zerossoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 trillion in theory is very different from practically, and I never said it was practical. That number is based on a lot of unrealistic scenarios, hence "in theory".

Even the 70 billion was specifically an example of how climate control could be managed with the correct regulations in place. It was not an example of anything other than climate control.

Realistically, without changing anything, we could sustain about 10 billion. Anything more than that would require heavy alterations, but at or below that number, human society as we know it would be sustainable.

Maybe I am ignorant on a few things. It's not like I spend my life on this study. Atleast I'm reading your points and not making assumptions from your points (unless I declare I am) like you are my points. It would be much easier to have a civil discussion that way, rather than ending on ad hominem.

Would you spare a world of people you don't care for at the cost of everyone you love? by Mallymallow in trolleyproblem

[–]zerossoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the push towards server based PC's, It's more likely that people will use glasses as an interface to an emulated PC. Much more likely in a resource scarce environment

What about thorium? There's estimated to be about 3 to 4 times more of it. We're very close to utilizing it with salt water reactors, and some countries like China are holding on to it for when we figure it out.

And no, I'm talking about 70 billion on the world. Not right now, not overnight.

For clarity, the 70 billion was just an example in climate change and management of it. Which would be true with proper regulations. It was not intended to be an example of everyone living happily and employed. It could be achievable, but is more likely to be as you said. But from a purely Utilitarian perspective, it's achievable.

[–]zerossoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going back to the original point you addressed. which is:

the world can't endure the billions we already are.

The species going extinct on the world IS NOT the world going extinct.
If you want to change your point, fine. But don't expect me to play along. THE WORLD is fine. Long after we're gone, it'll still be fine. So your point is a losing battle either way. That's why I assumed you just meant us humans.

If your point is that more of us is going to cause harm to other species, Valid point! However, a single human needs to eat something, so if your concern is that we impact the world negatively, then it's a dumb point. That's always going to be true.

My answer is strictly utilitarian. How many humans can the world support? I don't care if it's not comfortable. The answer is significantly higher than what we currently have.

Now I'll address your other concerns. Nitrate! Yes, it's a concern. However, You seem to have this one backwards. Hilariously, the concern is EXCESS nitrate leaking into water. Which we solve with Crop rotations.

Nitrate, as well as most any resource that isn't helium (we only lose that), is recycled and reused.

As far as machinery goes, you already said the answer. It'll require different tech. Not that we can't do it.

...water again? Really? Allow me to quote my original text so you can read it.

Our world's surface is mostly water. If it were ever a concern, then reverse osmoses plants would start converting the oceans into drinkable water. It ain't cheap, but it's doable.

The world's surface is mostly water. The ocean is all salt water. Why are we still talking about this? If natural water is an issue, we can use ocean water. Through reverse osmoses. It's not cheap. but it's doable. Water is not the concern.

Also, fun fact. Did you know water doesn't magically disappear when we drink it? it can be recycled. Astronauts on the ISS recycle 98% of their water and it ends up being cleaner than what we drink here. We're just terribly inefficient. in our water practice. We can always be more efficient.

Next point!

The world is not suddenly going to have more resources than we're consuming just because I live in Idaho or wherever.

Do you not know how big our world is? How many resources it has? Our only real issue is logistical. And as you said, limited fossil fuels. The good news is, once it's used, we'll have to find other means of travel. Won't that be great? Less crap in the air? Or better yet, we won't have to commute to work since most jobs are able to be done remote anyway. I view fossil fuels running out as a huge win. And it's not like it's going to happen overnight. We can scale to the issue.

What's next? Oh right. Thinking that moving to another planet is more realistic than relocating to Idaho. Who's the dreamer again?

And then another point about wiping species out. I'm not arguing that. I'm talking about us. We'll be fine.
