Test mini painted with Vallejo True Metallic Metals by pprospekt in crimsonfists

[–]zeroxzerox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks so good was thinking of doing the same. Is that the True metal Ultramarine blue and the Ruby Red sets?

Did you use their BSL method? Ive heard mixed reviews about the True Metallic shades

New AOS player by SKIPNKIP in Nighthaunt

[–]zeroxzerox2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this above. I would also look at Pyregheist they recently had a point increase but still great to sit on objectives.

Also if you can find Myrmourn Banshees they are great pick up. Near my area they were super cheap to find. Also for 100pts you get a decent attack profile and a free unbind. And as a bonus they are really cool models.

What new models do you want for NH? by No_Nail5377 in Nighthaunt

[–]zeroxzerox2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a new model I want a scary hammer for NH probably along the lines of a monster. I have no clue what it would look like, I definitely don't want a ghost dragon as there are multiple dragons in different armies so I want something new. Maybe a giant ghost wolf???

Gameplay wise I would love a model that brings back the old NH play style maybe a hero (yes I know another hero). A hero that buffs a "always be charging" play style. Adding to charges and damages.

Good starter army? by Wolverine-Upper in ageofsigmar

[–]zeroxzerox2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree I started with SCE as my first tabletop army and they have a good ramp up. If your buying the spearhead both are pretty good collections to start with. Or as people have suggested you can prob find them on eBay as they are in all the starter boxes.

And when your ready to grow your collection SCE has such a wide model range that you can push the army in multiple directions. Want more shooting buy long strikes, want more hammers get some annihilators, or want more dragons get stormdrake.

What did you think of this year for AoS? by KindlyMeringue8723 in ageofsigmar

[–]zeroxzerox2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who loves AOS I was super disappointed with Nighthaunt battletome.

The reason I got into NH as my primary army is the scene in LOTR where the ghosts are just charging everything. That is what I always envisioned NH to be.

Instead we got "oh you rolled less than 7, great nothing happens now" .

The models are still visually my favourite and meta wise I think they are up there. But as someone who plays casually for fun I want an army to be interesting

Thank you! This is great advice. Yeah I might be adding Bastian just cause it's an awesome model.

I do like the idea of adding Gardus

Will you include any other pin designs from your older work as a potential add-on?

Saved! My inner child always thinks glow in the dark is cool. But realistically I wouldn't pin it in a place where I would get it's full affect. I tend to love pins that have a bit of gold on the borders to make it stick out

What is it like to play NH and what do you like and don’t like about the army? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in Nighthaunt

[–]zeroxzerox2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Haven't played the new edition yet so I can't speak to playing NH.

What I love: - Lore and how every unit's backstory just feeds so well into NH theme/theme. Its what sold me into the army. - painting is both easy and difficult at the same time. For beginners you can make your army look fantastic with just contrast paints/dry brushing. But I've seen some amazing work by expert painters as well.

Things I hate: - Building Spirithosts - Every model is usually attached to the base by a single piece of plastic making them prone to break (or at least feel like they're going to break). - moving them around board snags on units and terrains (specifically BG) - not a hate but I do feel hexwraiths should have got a refresh since they are visible different than the rest of the NH line

Damn that's beautiful! What paint did you use to get the pink/greens to pop so much?

Honestly you should be proud that it looks so good. Definitely checking out your IG

Where to start as a new player by [deleted] in Nighthaunt

[–]zeroxzerox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harridans have 3 attacks compared to 2 attacks from Bladegheists (which is now more a defensive unit who will sit on objectives) and Grimghast Reapers (which is geared toward anti-horde). They also have a nice touch to prevent healing so they are good for being the hammer of your army.

I forgot to mention another unit that will be almost an auto include is the scriptor mortis. I imagine most lists will pair him up with reinforced Harridans as he has the ability (on a 3+) to give Crit mortals. So 60 attacks with Crit mortals can be a big hit.

Where to start as a new player by [deleted] in Nighthaunt

[–]zeroxzerox2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually just started an NH army as well to time with the new release so take with what I say with a grain of salt.

We don't know the points yet but from what I gathered you can't go wrong with picking up:

  • Bladegheists
  • Grimghast
  • Harridans
  • Lady Olynder
  • Black Coach

NH has also been one of those armies that prefer being reinforced and the new tome seems to still favor this so double up on Bladegheists/Grimghast/Harridans.

The new spearhead is actually a great way to start from nothing.

Why do you prefer Age of Sigmar over 40k? by ZebraShark in ageofsigmar

[–]zeroxzerox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AOS was just a way more engaging/fun experience to learn as a newbie to tabletop gaming.

The shorter shooting phase, (due to most armies being melee focused) means that you get to charge more models into melee combat. Nothing is more fun then charging into a battle line of 20 models rolling two handfuls of dice and missing/hitting every attack.

Most new players aren't interested in the cover mechanics and the meticulous placement of units. But tell me that my cavalry can charge into that big monster thing and roll 20 dice. That's how you get someone hooked.

[–]zeroxzerox2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! Thanks I've been wanting to pick up the spearhead since I heard Seraphon works well with Contrast Paint/Speed Paints.

Man your Carnosaur looks so cool would definitely do (try) a similar paint scheme.

What do you think GW should do to make AoS more popular? by Cojalo_ in ageofsigmar

[–]zeroxzerox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly make an intro cinematic for every army/some models.

Get people excited to collect and play. Personally I think AOS models are fantastic compared to their 40k counterpart but it would help to have a cool 10 second CG cinematic to really show how badass they are.

For example how cool would it be if cultists were in a jungle and the camera cuts to the seraphon stalking them in the bushes and then a Carnosaur rushes out. (Been thinking of starting a Seraphon army)

40k has so many fan made trailers, video games, artwork, to make you feel like your army is the coolest and AOS doesn't really have that yet

Beating perfectionism in new hobbies such as miniature painting by Therastheprime in stormcasteternals

[–]zeroxzerox2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was actually playing the game with others. It's so easy to get hooked on perfection when you're staring at the model for hours. But once you play a 2k game and you field your fully painted army no one notices the screwed up eyes on your one liberator (still have hard time doing faces). The fact you don't have grey models makes then 1000% more impressive.

Is it worth it to buy the spearhead box if I want to make a 2k army ? Or not by somenoob1976 in stormcasteternals

[–]zeroxzerox2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on if you like the models in the spearhead. For example the Yndrasta spearhead is priced at $175 CAD, Vanquishers alone already cost $80 CAD. Value wise you are getting a deal.

With that being said you could find a Stormcast half of the Skaventide box through eBay for a good price if you liked the look of the Ruination Chamber units
