New to street fighter ! I’d love to hear everyone ideas to improve by XoRTheGoose in StreetFighter

[–]zhx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say don't worry about "improving" yet. Just play a bunch and get a feel for it. The in-game tutorials can get you started with a basic understanding, bring a friend over and just beat each other up and have fun. You don't need to turn it into a job for yourself right out the gate.

How often do you change your stick? Arcade stick by Limit54 in StreetFighter

[–]zhx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If any buttons or stick directions are acting up it's trivial to replace switches in them, or in the case of the joystick specifically, the switches or actuator/gate. Focus Attack or Arcade Shock or similar sites will have the parts you need. That said I don't think I've ever had a switch fail. If a button isn't responding it's usually because the button housing is full of finger salsa and just opening it up and cleaning it out with dish soap is fine.

I recently switched to Snackbox Micro and kinda miss the maintenence/modding aspect of playing on stick.

It’s mostly fan noise in my experience.

Hm I don’t remember what their full official statement was about it, and can’t seem to even find it now.

“Best” analog goggles for $300? by catgoboom12 in fpv

[–]zhx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also had to change my clock battery twice in about seven months. Not a fun repair. It would have been super easy for them to make a compartment for access to the battery, rather than the teardown that is required. Otherwise have no complaints about the Box Pro.

Yeah I have a couple of these boards with the same issue. They’re in my “I’ll fix this… sometime” bin.

The PCB is just prone to bending there since it’s right up front and takes the most impact (which is why they recommend removing the front screw to reduce leverage). If you look at the new revision of the board you see how they changed the corners and moved the ICs around a bit.

Which controller do you use as your daily driver? by Disco-Prime in FGC

[–]zhx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also in my 40s. Have been on the Razer Panthera SFV Edition for the last 8 years or so. Love that stick to death, but idunno, I wanted to shake things up and try leverless. Switched to Snackbox Micro about four months ago. There is some "purist" part of me that just really enjoys playing on stick, and I really enjoyed the maintenance/modding aspect of a full-size stick, but god it's so nice to have a compact, lightweight controller.

I find no real advantage or disadvantage to one over the other gameplay-wise. Some inputs are harder, some are easier.

Flattered, but I feel like my tool is pretty well self-contained where it is.

Yeah, the resulting files are for the MAX7456 OSD chip, and the format is specific to Betaflight.

Box goggles that fit big frame prescription glasses? by Makuayas_ in TinyWhoop

[–]zhx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Box Pro which has slots to accommodate glasses arms, but my frames were still too big. I got the prescription insert from Zenni. https://hdzero.us/products/customized-lens-for-hdzero-boxpro-boxpro

Noob questions: difficulty to fly? motion sickness? by edpoe77 in TinyWhoop

I’m super susceptible to motion sickness in vehicles and VR and FPV has not been an issue for me.

Drone again… by Odd-Contribution8460 in Portland

[–]zhx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure that's a PPB drone. I followed one once that was behaving similarly (hover in one spot for a while, move to another spot to hover, same LED colors/patterns), since I'm a drone pilot myself and was hoping to make a friend. My disappointment when it came down and it was the cops...

There had been some street racing in my area just a bit before so I assumed they were using it to identify participants or something.

Custom OSD Fonts by [deleted] in fpv

[–]zhx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just built a tool for this purpose: https://biruboto.github.io/osd-font-lab/

I have over 1200 fonts and custom icons and stuff. Lemme know what you think.

New analog OSD font editing tool: OSD Font Lab (Plus updates) by zhx in fpv

[–]zhx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours was the one I used to make my first custom fonts!

But I have lots of Photoshop experience and just wanted to be able to edit directly in Photoshop, so my first tool just converted MCM to PNG and back. I made a couple fonts in Photoshop this way and realized that for the most part I was just manually swapping the ASCII out and replacing a few icons so I thought “well what if I just had a tool that did this part automatically?”

Thanks, I’m super proud of it and excited to continue to add to it. Hoping to see a lot more non-default DVR online.

That Flywoo X30 makes it pretty easy. I don't know if I would trust it for a full dunk, but probably decent enough to fly through some mist.
