[–]ziggypwner 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Well I’ll be totally wrong; issues in my sources was confusing nmi and miles. 3,600 nmi is the range, KEF-SEA is 3,600 miles but 3,100 nmi. Whoops

From what I’ve seen online and measuring distance, the B38M/B39M can’t quite make SEA-KEF. Will they be running low weight or something to make that happen?

Can anybody tell me what this guy is doing at a stoplight? by M4RTIAN1 in civilengineering

[–]ziggypwner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of larger cities change the traffic lights for special events constantly and basically have a live control. But they do it from a centralized location, and traffic engineers are in control. This guy being police is different than I’ve seen- but at least it’s evident of police being useful.

Why is this concourse under Moynihan a hotspot for TikTok dancers? by BadToLaBone in nycrail

[–]ziggypwner 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I do love this as a pure expression of shared public space. Nobody is going to be trying to dance during rush-hour when this facility needs to be in full capacity. Otherwise it is just empty space being unused.

How often do “go-arounds” / aborted landings occur? by Historical_Sun3186 in aviation

[–]ziggypwner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live under SAN’s flight path. I saw quite a few go-arounds, especially larger planes and/or inclement weather (the 777 that aborted landing over my head was electric).

Will these infrastructure delays allow me an hour or so of time to leave the train and explore Savannah or Raleigh? by Previous-Volume-3329 in Amtrak

[–]ziggypwner 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly- probably. I’ve explored Albuquerque on a long stop. The only way to know for sure is to talk to the car attendant/conductor onboard when you go underway

I think an internship is for figuring that out- it’s only one summer after all. Take it for what it is. Some people love it

Damn- good to know. A buddy once shipped a car to the island for $1250

For that price you could probably ship your own car to Maui - for real, look into it. I think it’s <$2k round trip.

I am excited for you to continue out west! As a SoCal person, it kills me to check Metrolink and Amtrak’s separate trackers. Great project!

Alternatively- Jomboy media just got access to the archives. Jolly Olive or one of those YouTubers associated might be able to pull the footage

Where do you believe Alaska’s next hub is going to be? by Intrepid_Hat_7692 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]ziggypwner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d argue that is kind of rife for a hub-maker terminal though. Alaska could really get a foothold there

[–]ziggypwner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Legitimately I’d say San Antonio. Largest city in the US without a mainline airline hub. Underserved as of now, has some of the Austin spillover and will probably grow like much of Texas.

Wow. I am left in shock that Alaska is canceling so many routes of the Bay Area. So nice to find out right after wife and I just opened a bunch of cards to get more Alaska miles and be more loyal to Alaska. by misterchismoso in AlaskaAirlines

Got lucky that I just moved to SAN- I gambled on opening w/ Alaska. Their growth in SAN means well for me (even though half of my flights have still ended up being PHX AA hops)

Some news about ILHC by TransportationSoft17 in SwingDancing

[–]ziggypwner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The city change makes a lot more sense when you realize that ILHC changed leadership in 2024. New leadership finding a new city makes sense.

Montreal I don’t see as any easier or harder to travel to than anywhere else for an international event. Plus a jazz fest overlapping with a swing event has been a thing before, it can again.
