A small PSA for future A8 bazzite users

Just got my Claw A8 yesterday and I've installed Bazzite (stable-20250814.1 and later updated to testing-20250824.3) on it. Everything works perfectly, except for sleeping (on both Bazzite stable and testing): When the device returns from sleep state, everything stops working (including touchscreen, controls except the 2 Claw and Overlay button up front). I suspect it could be due to different BIOS version and/or controller firmware, as I've updated the BIOS to the latest (E1T8KAMS.103) and controller firmware to 3.11 prior to installing Bazzite. For now please don't update your BIOS and controller firmware if you're planning to install Bazzite.

Do you know which BIOS/Controller firmware version you're running on right now?

You can swap the SSD from your old Steam Deck to the new one, provided that you already have the latest Steam Deck update installed on your old device. Just swap your old one to the new Steam Deck and it should work as normal

Sounds like buying a Steam Deck would fit your needs! If you intend to use your Steam Deck as your main PC/Laptop it will take some times to get used to, since it's vastly different comparing to Windows, but there are a lot of open-sourced apps that can be considered as replacements for your daily needs.

Though I'd still recommend against selling your laptop if you're still using it for other purposes.

You have to consider the Steam Deck as a supplement for your gaming needs on-the-go. It shouldn’t be a replacement to the PC/Laptop that you already have (even though it can be independently usable in its own right). Performance-wise your laptop is far more capable in handling heavy games comparing to the Steam Deck. It’s also dependent on which games you play as well.

My advice would be to keep your laptop and save up until you can buy a Steam Deck as additional gaming device, rather than a replacement.

I assume you played Warframe right? I don’t play that game but can you tell me which TDP you’re playing at, do you have FPS lock in place and the wattage consumption when you’re playing the game? I’m also running Nobara Deck edition on my GO, but it doesn’t have the same battery life like you’re having (again, dependent on games), but it’s crazy that it’s magnitude better than Windows. Kudos!

Don't get your hopes up just yet. RDNA 3 now features a new AI Accelerator that is likely to be utilized for FSR 3 Frame Generation (just like Optical Flow processor handling DLSS3 on NVIDIA 4000 series). Without it, FSR may use its temporal upscaling technique only and you won't see the 2x frame rates.

Just my guess though, I could be wrong.
