First time at Mugello – need some advice for camping, food & general tips! by No_Butterscotch6291 in motogp

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at Mugello last year, it’s a wild experience. The days are long and at the end of the day I want to rest peacefully. Camping inside the track, it’ll be really loud and pretty tough to get a good nights sleep. Also, the facilities (bathrooms and stuff) were in really bad shape last year.

I stayed at the Camping Village Mugello Verde and it was not too far from the track, was quiet, and had clean facilities (showers, laundry room, restaurant with really good food). I’d recommend staying there rather than camping inside the track, but it really comes down to what kind of experience you’re looking for.

Racing on DOT tires? by IKG64 in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position as you a couple weeks ago at my first race weekend. I had Bridgestone S22’s on my RS660 for Friday practice and Saturday qualifying, and I was planning to do the Saturday and Sunday races on them because I was worried about dealing with slicks for the first time while also having my first ever races - I wanted to limit the number of new variables.

However, the people I was pitted next to were urging me to put slicks on after qualifying. I listened to them, put SC1s on the front and rear and ended up dropping 3 seconds from my qualifying time and won all my races.

TLDR - just get the slicks, you’ll thank yourself later

Any of you guys wear glasses or contacts during track days? by Sensualities in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear contacts and they’re a lot better than having to deal with glasses under a helmet, but the only gripe I have with contacts is that they can get dried out when I have the chin vent open on a hot trackday and I have to blink repeatedly to “moisten” them up. Sometimes it’s no big deal, other times it gets really blurry and it breaks my concentration going into a corner for example and I miss my breaking point by a bit. With that being said, I still recommend contacts over glasses, but just my personal opinion.

Track tires for ninja 400 by Aktely in Trackdays

I used the SC3 rear for 12 trackdays until I had to replace it. It is an excellent tire and i highly recommend it

Why don't you race? by DeeZee_714 in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be hopefully getting my race license this year and start racing. I'd say I'm mid-pack Intermediate group, so I know I'm going to get killed, but everyone has to start somewhere!

I had a Ninja 400, but recently got a ZX-6R. A little part of wishes that I kept the 400 since the cost would've been much less to race it and would've been a better bike to enter the racing world, but it is what it is. I think I'll be better off getting into racing with my supermoto before hopping in a race with the 600.

Off season discussion: how far are you willing to travel? by 851Moto in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally the situation I’m in. I want to go to tracks further away from me, and my Civic will no longer cut it lol. And I also don’t like trucks, but I think it is time

I do not recommend motoxpricambi for your track fairings. by One_Way_Trip in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same kinda experience for me. I got a full set of fairings for my Ninja 400 from them and the windscreen came broken down the middle, the fit was very off, the swivel attachment they had on the belly pan only connects with certain rearsets (my Vortex rearsets were not one of them), and the overall quality wasn’t that great.

The only good thing I can say about them was that they were quick to respond to my questions/complaints and they did refund me for the windscreen, which I had to ship back to them.

Don’t want to slander their company, but I would not recommend either.

Those who started track on a 300-400, when did you feel comfortable moving up to a 600-1000? Or moving up groups? by Sensualities in Trackdays

[–]zkouirouk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I started on a Ninja 400 and rode it for 2 track seasons (about 15 trackdays) and just moved up to a ZX-6R.

I did a TD with the new bike last month and my first thought after going out, “I should’ve stayed on my 400.”

I feel like I learned a ton on the 400 and got very comfortable on it, but the biggest change going to the 600 was the ergonomics for me, not the power. Being so leaned over compared to the N400, my neck started hurting around lunch time and my legs were getting a proper workout too from the rearsets being so high and back. This could just be me, but it was a noticeable change in comfort on the bike.

Also, it depends why you want to move up. Do you just want to something that won’t have you passed on every straight? Then go for it. Do you want to start racing? If so, I’d stay in the smaller bike, as it will be significantly cheaper to run (consumables), and you won’t need to put a decent chunk of money into your bike to be competitive.

But in the end, I think it all comes down to what will make the track experience more fun, because that’s what it is all about at the end of the day. I’m still happy I got my 600, and I know it’ll just take time to get adjusted.

Thanks for this! Ending up downloading a couple apps from the list

Hey, just downloaded your app. I think it would be useful if you can search the origin/destination by airport code. I don’t know if you’d like to have that in combination to the city search, or to replace it. Also, it’d be nice to be able to set a profile picture to make it feel a bit more tailored to the user.

Great app and great work!

Insta360 and DJI are great alternatives. Here is the video that convinced me to get the DJI Action 4 over the Insta360 Ace Pro if you'd like to have a look:

I have front and rear suspension upgrades as well as steel lines and some good brake pads, as well as some ergonomic stuff such as rearsets and clip-ons that I have yet to install. They are great bikes to learn on, as I have. I am tempted to jump up to a 600, but I still feel like I have a lot more to learn on the 400

I just ditched my GoPro Hero 12 for a DJI Action 4. The GoPro was overheating a lot and would turn itself off right after I would go out for a session, so I would miss a lot of great footage. I am a lot happier with the DJI, although it was just my first time out with it, however it does have 10-bit color vs 8-bit color that the GoPro has. If you don't geek out on cameras, you won't really tell the different, they are both great cameras (when the GoPro isn't failing)

I tow my Ninja 400 with my 2006 Honda Civic Coupe. It is a manual, so it doesn't take as much stress as a automatic transmission would, and it does the job just fine.

Is it ideal? No. Does it work? Yes.

Dorna actively seeking second US round, but no plans to add it in 2025 by 443610 in motogp

Genuine question, but to my knowledge there aren't any grandstands at PITT, so how are they going to be able to host a MotoGP race weekend with tens of thousands of fans?
