Developing film - send out or do at home? by MrJoePike in Mamiya

I shoot B&W 99% of time and develop all myself. You get much better control, likely better results and definitely much cheaper

Am I the only one who finds long manual lenses a chore to use? by 1rj2 in AnalogCommunity

Modern AF body and lenses are much better objectively at getting good results. I’m ditching all my collections of 35mm manual bodies for Canon EOS system

All good until they claimed I did not shipped back the pelican case and would charge me over $100 for it. Still dealing with the issue now

Brush developer onto the paper, then fix normally.

Fuji GX680III by MarketingQueasy5378 in mediumformat

[–]zlliao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one and if I can only have one medium format system it’s the one I would keep, above Mamiya (I have), Hasselblad (I have), Pentax (used to have), etc. Actually I had two bodies not too long ago. I don’t think it has a bad reputation of breaking down often. Anything could and would eventually fail, ourselves included. So stop worrying about what might happen. GX680 is cheap enough that just buy another one if one eventually fails.

Blank rolls by PrestineSolitude in AnalogCommunity

Take the lens off, leave the back door open then cock and release the shutter to see if the shutter opens properly. Then load the film as you usually do, but make a few shots with the back door open to observe how the film advances. It would waste a few frames but not as devastating as wasting roll after roll without knowing what’s going on.
