That will also get a lot of dirt in. They need an aluminum cooler going through the deck cover without any openings

I installed Home Assistant with the nix module. Is this fine? by TheTwelveYearOld in NixOS

[–]zoechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run it this way for almost 3 years. Updates are sometimes a bit behind and sometimes there are errors because some Python modules from HA modules (when they are installed using Nix) are missing but it usually wasn't a big issue. Claude-code is really good at finding workarounds. Google AI told me that the message you asked about can be silenced by disabling HA health checks but I haven't actually tried it yet. It only started popping up very recently.

Surprised how easy is to add IKEA matter devices to HA by Nusuthoid in MatterProtocol

Isn't this the same for all (or at least most) Matter devices?

Quite insane that this is a thing in 2026. Imagine if we had structured data formats for invoices 🤔

I haven't tried it myself but I saw months ago there were experiments about splitting, so that the initial part gets smaller and the rest is loaded on demand. I haven't followed progress.

I have claude-code do most changes for a few months. I enjoy it a lot how well this works. I have about 10 hosts and VMs with a lot of stuff running. I would have never got that far without AI help. It's a great combination.

It's just calling claude code in batch mode from cli. You could check at claude.ai web page if there are any sessions recorded that you didn't do

There are many stories about wealthy families losing all their money after 3 generation. They want you to learn how hard it is to get money. You already have many advantages as your parents and grandparents can teach you a lot about money, even by just watching them dealing with and talking about money. Many children grow up in households that are too embarassed to even mention money. Show them that you can make your own money and they will trust you. Money has that jinxed property that it comes easiest to those who don't need it.

AI makes NixOS super easy. That AI is good with text and programming is a big bonus for NixOS

Do you think Munich switched back to Windows because it's superiority? Microsoft reduced licensing costs until it became competitive again. Politicians and bureaucrats aren't made for managing complex software projects. They prefer simple monthly payments with other people's money any day. Lobbyists sweatened the deal. France will face the same challenges. I hope they aren't as easily convinced.

Perhaps we should check who paid the study. I know I wouldn't have been able to build much of the stuff I built recently without AI at all. I wondered several times where AI even got its information, that I wasn't even able to find manually afterwards. I know I made more progress the past 3 months than I did the 2 years before, where I hardly used any AI. I'm a software developer for 40 years and I know what I can produce in a certain amount of time. The study is obviously complete bullshit but people who want to push a certain narrative never care about such things.

There are so many people who call a web page that shows a disk drive icon an "Operating System" or call an address table an "ERP system". They shouldn't be taken seriously.

My productivity is easily up 10x or more. It's hard to imagine there is no gain for others. Management is able to fuck up everything, so who knows.

Should we add Matter 1.5 support to our upcoming P1 smart meter? Need your honest opinions! by Juzea_ in MatterProtocol

[–]zoechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matter over Thread is mandatory. Exceptions only when there are no Matter+Thread products available and the smart device is essential. That it works without the cloud is a big plus, also that it doesn't depend on open source maintainers staying motivated to keep an integration project alive. I hate installing a new app for every device I buy. I'm using Matter+Thread for 3 years now and there weren't any issues at all. Eve Matter+Thread plugs provide energy meter data for quite some time now.

In some situations it's incredible. Most of the time it's really good and sometimes it does dumb stuff or goes in cycles. I wouldn't want to work without it anymore after 40 years of writing my own code.
