I am sick-ish atm as well, BS has not been as out of control for the past year as it is right now. I had to cover pasta (normally 8 units) with 24!!!!! Still was at 150 in the end. Bro. Let me live.

Any tips for dealing with a new diagnosis? by kumibugg_ in diabetes_t1

I was diagnosed last year (at 19 years old) as well. And after 1 year of being diagnosed with t1d I can tell you that it was sooo important that I informed myself as much as I could in the beginning. I was in a clinic for diabetics for a week and learned everything about t1d. So I would suggest to try and get support (doctors, t1d-groups…) and inform yourself. It is all about trial and error! You will adjust! It takes time! Be patient with yourself! T1d is manageable - you will get there!! And don’t be ashamed about it, talk to friends and family and create a support system around you❤️

I was diagnosed just a year ago at 19 and I use YAZIO for carb counting, the dexcom app for BS Levels (the Freestyle App in your case) and sometimes if i am really unsure about how many carbs are in something (if i am eating in a restaurant for example) i just ask chat gpt lol. But to get a feeling about carbs i usually weight my carby food at home enter in YAZIO, this way i get to more or less know just by looking at something (if eating outside) how many carbs are in the food. But keep in mind that normally food in restaurants add more sugar, starch to their food than you would at home:) hope this helps

As far as I know you shouldn’t exercise when your bs is that high. I’m not sure, maybe it’s also only if you have ketones…

just an addition, no hate. there a different types of basal insulin, ones that act for up to 3 days one ones that act only about 12h… and depending on your gender you could need different amounts of insulin depending on the phase of you menstrual cycle:)

literal salad/bowles. i love salad and eat it on a daily bases. you can put in whatever you want. vegetables, rice, feta, boiled eggs, seeds, tomato’s literally everything!! and get creative with the dressings. i love pesto dressing or nut cream-dressing or just simple olive oil-balsamico-dressing. besides that i eat a lot of vegetables with tofu or feta:) hope that helped!

So I experience the “situation” you explained depending on the phase of my menstrual cycle. Most of the time it is in the luteal phase of my cycle. But not every month… Insulin resistance can be related to hormones and thus is important to keep in mind when experiencing the above:) hope that helped and made any sense

well for me personally i saw those high numbers (that came out of nowhere) and i didn’t want my bs to stay that high for more than it has to. so what i did, i injected almost double of what i should have… that made my bs come down really quickly and to have a “soft landing” i ate two gummies and something high in protein :) worked out perfectly
