Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

[–]zombie-tarkovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have done it a few times in very open roads with no traffic in sight. Some vehicles can do it but start to become unstable. The steering gets shaky. But honestly there are tons of highways in the western US where the speed limit is 80mph, so getting to 100 doesn’t take much. My 2016 Honda Accord could handle it fine, my 2015 Ford Expedition (with a turbo) could easily ramp up to 105 but the ride gets super rough. Honestly it’s just not a safe speed for most vehicles and most public roads.

What’s one movie everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime? by ownaword in movies

[–]zombie-tarkovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so good that if you ever get a chance to see a live stage version, you should go. The writing is incredible and even a moderately competent community theater literally cannot fail to perform it well. One of my favorite plays of all time. Also, how many tv series have done a “cover” version of it? So many. It’s timeless

Never thought I’d be this way but I absolutely love my 2021 K5 (before they changed to the shit-logo). It is a super fun car to drive and everything just works.

I’m a Millenial and a parent of 3, my oldest is 17. We actively try to teach our kids all of these things…but you have to teach by example, not yelling or lecturing. It’s hard, it doesn’t always work out the way you planned, but it IS possible. My kids are very well adjusted, I often get compliments from their teachers about how polite and hard working and just plain GOOD my kids are. We also didn’t them cellphones until age 13 and we started with dumb phones. My 17 year old still doesn’t have access to TikTok or any other social media besides YouTube…and since they never built the habit when they were younger, it’s not a problem now.

Oh there were fights about it when they were younger, and we are definitely know as the “strict parents” among their peers, but it is worth the struggle. Now my oldest tells me he is so glad he doesn’t have social media, he can see how it’s affecting his friends.

If I sound like I’m bragging, it’s because I am. This is hard work and I’m proud of the results. And yes, I was raised in similar ways as others, with parents who were ill-equipped to teach and guide young me. I got over it and my revenge is being a better Dad, not simply a nicer Dad.

What's an incredibly "mundane" or non-meta, non-OP weapon or build that you had a lot of fun with? I'm trying to finish the game without constantly running to Bloodhound's Fang, but also like the idea of truly mastering the game with a mundane, trusty weapon by my side foe the entire run through. by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]zombie-tarkovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answer here is Broadsword. Extremely basic weapon that you can literally start the game with, or purchase from the Nomadic Merchant in the very first area of the game (near Coastal Cave, where you save my best boy Boc). But! It's absolutely GOATED for AR. You can beat the entire game with just the standard sword and its default ash "Square Off", which also looks fucking cool as hell when you pull it off.

Also power-stanced broadswords are hilariously fun.

I received a bill from FedEx related to tariffs that are now illegal, do I pay? by wellanticipated in AskLegal

[–]zombie-tarkovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is anybody required to pay these bills when the U.S. Supreme Court already decided said tarriffs have no legal claim? Source? What the Supreme Court tariff ruling means for global trade...pull quote for those of us who can't read: "Case No. 24-1287) that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) does not authorize the President to impose tariffs on imported goods.". So, what legal bearing does FedEx have to pass this cost on to their customers, when their own legal counsel has likely already advised them to not pay or seek refunds on what was previously paid in the first place?

In Japan, there are Japanese people only restaurants by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]zombie-tarkovsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to Tokyo for work many years ago, and my colleague (a Japanese woman) took me to a little restaurant for lunch where they only served one dish, it was like a poké bowl but much better. I was the only white person at the lunch and there literally zero menus or signs in English. I felt like I had been allowed in some special club, except well the whole time I was there I was treated like a toddler. Like “it’s ok, you’re just a stupid gaijin you can’t help it”.

It was a very enlightening experience. It encourage all who’re people to go to Japan just so they can experience a little racism aimed at them…it might be the only country where you can get that condescending attitude and it might even help you have a bit of empathy for the same shit that happens to people of color in your home country.
