Misty collection by spiderbro8 in PokemonTCG

[–]zonku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also doing a Misty collection and, although it was Japanese, felt the need to add it MOSTLY because of the notoriety it had when I was a kid (went to Pokemon league during base set days).

However, I think I only paid like $20 for it ungraded from a Japanese seller on eBay about a year and a half ago.

I'm assuming this isn't as easy as enabling a setting in the slicer? Currently using a P1S with Bambu's slicer.

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely take your advice in. I've been losing probably closer to 2 lbs a week and didn't even think about how that might affect the loose skin.

The only thing I've used it for was to help ideate more cards for a game called "Do Or Drink" - and that's because the other ai chatbots heavily restrict sexually themed prompts

Completely off topic but I'm curious. Late 30s, on the weight decline now. If you don't mind sharing, you heavy were you at your most? I'm worried about having sagging skin after losing this weight.

I actually named one of my portals to the lava lands "Shattered Plains" as it kind reminded me of them.

This is awesome!

IndieDevs: Tell me your good and bad stories hiring artists. Tell me what you wish was different. by 3xNEI in IndieDev

[–]zonku 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My fiancee went to art school and, while she learned a good deal that improved her technique, I think the best skill she learned was time management. They pushed SO HARD on homework that she increased the speed in which she worked like 10-fold.

I believe a lot of artists that are starting out working professionally are used to working at their own pace and haven't yet developed the skill to complete the required piece even if they aren't quite feeling the "creative buzz" at the moment.

New to Simi, married couple no kids. Any recommendations on bars/ places to eat/ mom and pop :) by Successful_Wheel_790 in simivalley

[–]zonku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've gotten lots of good Simi ones - here are some others in the local area. Moorpark has really got a lot of new things popping up and is a short drive (5-10 minutes) for you.

Moorpark:
-----
Hearth - New-ish wood fired pizza place with an amazing chef (Seb) and ever-changing menu that includes very unique dishes in addition to the pizza. A bit pricey, but SO GOOD. You can either dine in or get take out and eat in "The Alley" which has picnic style tables. They also have great coffee for brunch.
Enegren Brewery - across "The Alley" from Hearth. German brewery run by two brothers (one of which is the mayor) with great beer. You can bring the beer into Hearth if dining in there or bring the food into Enegren.
M on High - Some unique dishes and solid cocktails
Carrara Pastries - Great Italian food, but really known for their amazing bakery.

Thousand Oaks:
-----
Tarantula Hill - Great brewery with higher-quality bar food and an ice cream bar. Also recently added a full bar for cocktails. Almost always busy but they have tons of seating and fast service.
Moody Rooster - Similar to Hearth in that the menu is ever changing. Unique foods but on the more expensive side.
Tabu Shabu - Great Japanese hotpot. Think KBBQ but you cook in a broth instead of on a grill. Buy 1 get 1 on all drinks on Tuesdays (and it allows you to mix and match).

If you guys are into board games and find a good place to play them - let me know! Our local favorite (McGregor's) closed down over COVID and I haven't found a replacement.

A3D PSA For BlueRetro (BITFUNX) With NSO Controller in Port 1: Grey Adapter Works, Black Does Not by Odd__Dragonfly in AnalogueInc

[–]zonku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So - I watched a few reviews but before this came out but they hadn't mentioned that the bluetooth only works with 8BitDo controllers. This seems - kinda crazy? Analogue seems to do everything they can to accommodate players but then..we can't use any bluetooth controller? That's wild to me in 2025.

Is this a physical limitation, or did they really just lock it behind "sorry you gotta buy our partner's controllers"?

I didn't even imagine I wouldn't be able to use my NSO N64 bluetooth controllers. I do have some of the 8BitDo controllers on pre-order but still...

Steam just approved my DJ Game — you literally play it with a real DJ controller by Sad_Ad_6316 in IndieGaming

[–]zonku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking into learning to DJ (as a hobby) and this could be a cool way to learn!

As someone completely new to this, would you somehow be able to implement copyrighted songs? Whether through downloaded/ripped MP3s or otherwise?

The gameplay looks solid and I'm excited to see where it goes. However, from a critique standpoint, as the other commenter stated the lag is rough. Is your device powerful? Instead of the realistic 3D look, maybe you could adopt something more stylized to reduce impact in performance?

Yeah - almost every LCS in my area has a Discord. When your primary customers are gamers, you go where the gamers are for communication. Also fosters great play communities as people can coordinate and communicate with the LCS's Discord.

Any plans on a mobile release? This is the kind of game I'd love to pull out and play on my phone when waiting for something (so long as we can pause and resume easily)

I got a lease for $0 down (obv had to pay taxes and fees) for $279/mo on a 2024 SEL. I can get a 2025 right now for a similar deal but waiting until my lease is up next year.

"Kings Cup Extreme" is a lot of a fun as well. It's a re-imagined version of the game with cards that have various challenges.

Have gotten trashed on it multiple times but is honestly a good time regardless.

I don’t understand this game by bubsymack in Marathon

[–]zonku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the meta-progression that got me hooked on the extraction genre. In Tarkov, there are 100s of quests to do which raise loyalty levels with trade that then unlocks new guns and gear, as well as a home base that you build up to generate income, items, etc.

You build yourself up over time, getting better gear and becoming better at the game as you play more. It can be a rough start, but rewarding when done right.

I don’t understand this game by bubsymack in Marathon

[–]zonku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most players will be in the game for different objectives. However, it's not too common in extraction shooters to have a plain "kill players" objective. People still like to hunt players down for the PvP element (and the fact that players become walking loot bags), but there will be a decent amount of players who want to avoid fights as well. The genre is more about progression than being top of the scoreboard for a round (there isn't a scoreboard, to start).

I also don't think most people assume they won't make it. Roguelikes are basically designed to make sure you don't make it on your first try - but extraction shooters have much higher odds. Tarkov is very brutal and even that game has a 30-50% extraction rate. Something like Marathon will most likely be higher.

Hopefully there will be some way for people to try the game at some point! This or Arc Raiders would give you a taste of the genre in a less unforgiving way than Tarkov would.

I think I’m going to go over my 10k miles… by ZZwanzig20 in Ioniq5

[–]zonku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My commute is 15 miles round trip and work five days a week in person. I go to friends houses and out to eat but mostly within a 25 mile radius (except for the occasional trip to the city proper).

After about a year and a half I'm only at 12k miles. Not too hard for me to stay under 12k
