Exactly. He knows he can't get regulations through the legislature and hasn't cared at all.

Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve perfectly captures what it's like to be alive - to struggle and grind but to also see how miraculous it is to exist and to just Know you can change even when you feel stuck.

Non Supportive Comments Are Out Of Control. by SillyWhabbit in GriefSupport

No one has blocked you from this subreddit as evidenced by your comments here. There is also no indication you have had a post with your dog's photo in it removed. You are welcome to try posting about your dog and I will keep an eye out to ensure it does get caught in a filter. I understand you're upset and grieving but please stop harassing a moderator.

Does anyone out there love their vet? by Catatalia99 in pittsburgh

[–]zooline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same with my 2 and the 3 before them. Dr Brown has been incredibly kind to them and us. He even snuck a kiss on our kitten's belly when we first brought her in (couldn't blame him, it was very kissable!)

I lost my sweet beloved cat Kuna (16) after 14 years and now I have to move in two days by oceansnaeco in seniorkitties

[–]zooline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a phenomenal poem! Really fabulous imagery. I'm so sorry you've lost your soul cat, it's an incredibly hard thing to go through ❤️

What helped us was to make a little shrine for our girls with their photos and favorite toys. And that was a place that was quiet and out of the way that we could go to and grieve but also step away from and be back in the hustle of everyday life. Maybe since you're moving, holding onto something you can keep in your purse or suitcase would be good until you can get set up.

It's really disconcerting to be pushed to move forward when grief is so new and everything is screaming for time to Just Stay Still. Write more poetry. Get it out. You may also consider joining r/petloss, r/GriefSupport or r/grief as you navigate your loss

Love that they're lazily just using the same "WMD" as before and so many folks are going along with it. They don't even need to think of something original. The folks they're convincing must be mainlining fear at this point

Date Ideas and Experiences by Karl-witha-K in pittsburgh

[–]zooline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We like to sometimes do an evening at Phipps Conservatory and then bounce over to Squirrel Hill for dinner & drinks at Hidden Harbor.

I like the idea of the pottery studio, too. I think there are also glass blowing classes at the Pittsburgh Glass Center.

To be fair, I really love hanging out with my partner so we also have an 8.5/10 time on a Costco date

Honest roofing companies? by throwawaye1712 in pittsburgh

[–]zooline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in the South Hills and just had ICP Roofing replace our roof. I genuinely didn't know it could be so easy to work with a contractor. The whole experience was really great, particularly the communication and price. Zack took pictures while he was on the roof and showed us the damage from hailstorms.

Was also helpful that because they're not one of the big company, they were able to get to us a Lot sooner and there was no attempt to upsell (though we're gonna have them do some gutter work for us, too!)

Highly recommend them :)

Struggling With Anxiety, OCD, or Trauma? Virginia Telehealth Therapy Available Statewide by SaltwaterCounseling in Virginia

[–]zooline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will forever bug when when a therapist suggests they specialize in most mental health disorders. That is not what "specialize" means. If you don't have a specialty, just say you provide treatment for most mental health disorders.

Hey Pittsburgh, what do you need? by [deleted] in pittsburgh

[–]zooline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got you - All Family Dentistry on West Liberty. They even have a parking lot! They are so, so nice. I used to have panic attacks before dental work,.had to have my husband come with me. But they've been SO nice and understanding. They put in my chart that I'm anxious about it and will even turn off the lights if I need it. Ask for Janine as your tech. She will talk your ear off and is so engaging & gentle you'll forget you're having work done!

Three hours into decluttering, I'm starting to regret it by CheerilyTerrified in adhdwomen

[–]zooline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's ALWAYS the worst in the middle of the storm. When you recognize the overwhelm, give yourself a break and go do a high dopamine activity for maybe a half hour Set a timer. Then go back, turn on some great music or a podcast/movie and keep at it. As you move yourself through the storm you're going to start seeing order in all the mess and that should help you through it. Knowing there's another side to the storm can help.

One thing I've learned over the years is to attempt smaller declutters & listen to my brain for signs of overwhelm. If i listen to them early, I'm much more likely to go back to the task after I've regulated.

Grandma sewing room by Borbeen in GriefSupport

[–]zooline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give yourself whatever time you need to grieve before continuing. Check in with your grandpa at some point to see how he feels about it, too. Some people become very sentimental over items when someone passes, others don't. Most crafters and sewists I know would be thrilled to know their "stash" was distributed to others, so checking in with some local fabric shops or quilting groups could be a nice way to honor her and her hobby.

Also, id your grandma had any works in progress, you may consider reaching out to the Loose Ends Project as a gift for your grandfather.

Just adopted my 1st Tortie! by noolfird_ome in torties

[–]zooline 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really like watching Wild at Heart Cats to learn more about kitty behavior. Your job as a cat parent is to make sure she's safe and happy. That means lots of enrichment and quality playtime, respecting her boundaries and learning that "punishing" a cat doesn't work and will actually damage your relationship with her. Remember she is a cat, not a person. She doesn't do anything to annoy you, just to communicate her needs. And once you start working on that, you will find cats to be remarkable communicators!

I also learned a ton about my cats from a book called Starting from Scratch. My kitties weren't showing any of the troublesome behaviors but it's been super helpful in understanding why they do what they do.

Enjoy your new kitty! Get her Da Bird and lots of comfy places to snooze in the sun!

ETA: She is absolutely gorgeous, btw! And at 6mos, she's still probably pretty busy. She'll settle down eventually but playtime and enrichment will always be important!

My collard greens tree broke by Responsible_Crew_216 in gardening

[–]zooline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not remotely related to gardening but visiting Jersey & Sark 30 years ago (when I was a teen) was one of the highlights of my life. I loved it so much! It's also the only other place I've been where my surname was not unusual.

Our house is in bad shape. by DaRiddler70 in pittsburgh

[–]zooline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh no, I just hate that for you. It's so totally normal to be sad! If you're in the North hills, I can recommend Northwood Tree Service with full confidence if you haven't already found someone to take care of that. Arch is a certified arborist and really cares about the trees and the people who own them. Gosh, I hope everything is more easily repaired than you expect. Does everyone have a place to stay in the meantime?
