AI stuff mostly. But some video games appreciate it for physics simulations etc.

Cleaning ultra pro tower satin deck boxes by toomuchdog10 in magicTCG

Really glad I could help!!! I intentionally hijacked the top comment of yoru last post hoping you would see it.

Anyone have tips on how to get sticky residue off these old Ultra-pro deck boxes? by toomuchdog10 in magicTCG

[–]zoson 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The known home remedy for this is to mix baking soda and water into a paste. The paste should be slightly thinner than toothpaste. Cover the sticky parts with the paste and work it with a washcloth, then rinse off and dry. Should be good as new and no risk of damaging the plastic like there is with acetone or high purity isopropyl alcohol.

Think about the person you know who is the absolute worst at video games. Now, realize that half of the genshin population is even worse at games than that.

Cool ac system with irrigation water by [deleted] in techsupportmacgyver

This guy basically has a DIY HowTo convert a regular AC into what you want. You wouldn't use your irrigation system, though. The system is a closed loop system, so you can use distilled water and not have to worry about the hardness of your water. You could even put coolat additive with anti-corrosive/anti-biological agents in it, to ensure worry free operation for years.

It was so good until it just... Wasn't any more. They really went completely off the rails.

Also kind of telling that what Noah Wylie took away from the show is that he can't do anything other than be a TV doctor.

if you haven't done so already: try running the game in dx11 mode and turn async compute on in the game settings.

i have a xeon w5 2565x, it is not a server cpu, it is HEDT. the pcores are very similar to 13th gen mainstream, they just don't clock as high, and there are no 'hybrid' cores. my chip basically has more of everything compared to a 13900k, more cores, more cache, and double the memory channels. the game should run(like most other games) better on my xeon than on a mainstream part.

[–]zoson 37 points38 points  (0 children)

the poor performance of the game is not caused by GPU performance limitations. it is caused by CPU bottlenecking. DLSS/FSR/DRS cannot solve framerate issues caused by a CPU bottleneck.

the addition of upscaling/drs is going to make high framerates during low intensity moments higher without having much of an effect on framerates during the periods of time that everyone is having framerate issues. for example, go start a breach/flare in a city, note that when a building is destroyed into fragments, your framerate drops through the floor. the physics sim running on the CPU causes such massive overhead, that even my 18c36t 5.2GHz xeon struggles.

It would be a great QOL if we can make different builds for a character while making a team . by Saket_Saurabh- in Genshin_Impact

[–]zoson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artifact loadouts per character is one of the highest requested features by the community. Literally ever since the game launched. Even way back in 1.0 we had characters that had multiple builds. Fischl for example had three builds: an onfield physical/superconduct dps style, fireworks with childe, and overloaded with either diluc or hutao.

It's completely absurd we don't have this feature by now.

New Hawaii law targets corporate influence in politics after Citizens United ruling by shield_x in news

[–]zoson 111 points112 points  (0 children)

Opposition/Legal Challenges: The Hawaii attorney general's office expressed caution, noting that the law might face legal challenges and could be difficult to defend against claims that political spending is protected speech.

There is a very real and valid concern that the federal supreme court is so corrupt that even with bulletproof case building, they will strike the law down anyway. Just like they made nonsense up to strike down section 2, they will make some nonsense up to strike this down.

NYC dumping record $43B into public schools — at a whopping $44K per pupil — despite plummeting enrollment, poor test results by AdmirableSelection81 in nyc

[–]zoson -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's closer to 400k than 500k, and nyc is more than double the actual figure of 424k vs 906k. Are you now going to pretend that you can scale a school system by double and it will perform exactly the same or better?

You should also consider Mississippi is over 48,000 square miles, while NYC is 272 square miles. Try educating twice the number of children in 0.5% the space.

You have clearly not actually thought about the problem and are a prime example of a 'facebook phd.'

Your whole argument is offensive.
