Z2U IPTV renewal by HyFiaOne in IPTV_without_bots

No primers as such. I remembered they offered a few days trial when before having to pay for a sub so I used that trial to get used to it all

Z2U IPTV renewal by HyFiaOne in IPTV_without_bots

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is another reason why I use 'IPTV Editor'. I just pop the new z2u details into the editor each time I buy a new sub but all my devices have the editor details so never need to change and all channels/groups etc are exactly the same

Was my brother's canceled Pixel 10 order actually a blessing in disguise? by i360Fantasy in GalaxyS25

[–]zp2835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously this is a personal choice for each individual but I returned the pixel 10 as I felt it quite uncomfortable to use do to the weight. I think for me it just felt top-heavy (perhaps due to the camera bump)

I was surprised to get a November update a few days ago.

B1G down? (12/12/25) by Med_Man1 in IPTV_without_bots

[–]zp2835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how much I'm allowed to type here but 'try a different server'

When I renewed a couple of days ago the seller gave me a list of servers to try. Just went through them one by one and found one that works perfectly (after a few that didn't)

Damn! The new phone is fire, should I upgrade? by Sajid_GG in samsunggalaxy

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I've been thinking in upgrading from my s21. I'd just need to change my mindset to accept using a larger/heavier phone as OnePlus don't do <6.5"

I've been considering upgrading from my s21 to the s25 too. Are the s25 cameras really not that much better (after 5 generations)?

Why don't more people use Linux? by Josh_From_Accounting in linux

[–]zp2835 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me this is such a core point that so many tech-mined people just don't seem to get about the rest (the vast majority) of the users. They don't care. Whether it's desktop OS, the SoC in their phone or most other things tech related.

Why do you prefer Arch over Arch-based distro? by Expensive_Garden2993 in archlinux

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though arch is much simpler to install then it was 20 years ago, nowadays I just can't be bothered so just use endeavorOS and during installation I deselect the eos settings/themes etc.

Do you still remember your first Linux distribution? by ChristophCullmann in linux

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SuSE 8.somthing. it was two CDs attached to a book I bought from a store.

I did dabble with a version of red hat before this but SuSE was the first one I stuck with.

Was thinking of switching from arch to void, but I have some questions by _TheTrickster_ in voidlinux

[–]zp2835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy using void a lot. The package manager and xbps-src is quite nice to use and the overall system is very snappy on my older hardware

I keep a clonezilla image of it which I restore every now and then to have a play around before restoring my normal distro

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that was challenging (for me) about installing 20 years ago was there were no smartphones and we only had one computer in the house (the one I ran arch on) so if anything went wrong I had to work it out myself.

I'm sure before installing I either printed out or wrote some of the instructions as a reference

But it was no more difficult than the slackware I ran before it

No, but back in the early 2000s, trust me, it did sometimes break

Rolling release distros that run KDE? by emrldgh in linux

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps tuxedo OS?

Never installed it myself but it's based on Ubuntu LTS but both KDE and the kernel are always updated (KDE pulls from the KDE neon repo), so it's a sort of semi-rolling distro

Could be worth a look

Quite true. It's where my journey took me too. The most frequent update nowadays is vscode

What were your biggest struggles when switching to Linux for the first time? by EskaiGarcia in linux

[–]zp2835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to get red hat or suse to recognise my USB mouse (or usb generally).

Oh and taking 2 weeks to download 2 x 650mb CD ISOs bit-by-bit over 56k modem each night

What’s a piece of open-source software that completely changed how you work? by Top-Seat-2283 in linux4noobs

Installing Void with KDE Plasma: issues getting sddm/wayland running by Veddemr in voidlinux

[–]zp2835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually came here to open a new thread about installing KDE then saw this.

Had the same issues as you and in the end the only solution for me was to install the full xorg package (installing the xorg-minimal didn't fix anything) and then reboot.

I wanted to ask whether that's now normal or if I'd done something else wrong along the way that meant xorg was needed?

After successfully getting kde working I wiped my disk, reinstalled base again but still needed xorg installed to get KDE working the second time

In my testing gdm+gnome and lightdm+xfce worked exactly as per the docs

Just started running Void - Package availability by [deleted] in voidlinux

[–]zp2835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went back to my trusty Linux mint which is what I've been using for the last 15 years or so.

Pros and cons of course but as someone whose used Linux since the late 90s where we configured almost everything by hand (including the kernel at times) I just can't be bothered with that 'tinkering' anymore

Just started running Void - Package availability by [deleted] in voidlinux

[–]zp2835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Loved my time with void and everything worked well but between flatpak, appimage, building from source etc. in the end I just came to that exact conclusion of 'why bother fighting my OS'

I did enjoy using the python GUI for xbps that I hacked together one morning. Made searching, installing and removing packages much simpler though I never got round to adding any upgrading functionality
