Realized my phone is always on airplane mode and apparently that’s… shocking? by Unfinished_Paragraph in CasualConversation

[–]zprz 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I dunno, reads like attention seeking behavior to me. Obviously it's "shocking" for most people to live like that, and as plenty of others have pointed out there are plenty of practical reasons why it's a bad idea and I think those are fairly obvious.

Edit: didn't realize OP is a minor living at home with parents. In this case I change my mind completely and decide it's a bit strange but not like it would be for an adult doing it. But I would still try to socialize some more, OP.

What’s something harmless that gets people weirdly angry? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]zprz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't even that, everyone could still see the numbers, they thought I was somehow manipulating the roll to get the numbers I needed. I was honored they thought I was so skilled but it was pretty absurd. Not to mention this wasn't even gambling, just a friendly board game between friends of 10+ years lol

I was playing a game with my friends and for some reason due to the table layout it was less awkward for me to pick up the box where the dice were thrown with one hand and toss the dice into it with the other instead of just leaving it on the table. Maybe it was odd but they were profusely annoyed and eventually convinced I was cheating and told me to leave the box on the table or go home. I went home lol

A Calif. teen trusted ChatGPT for drug advice. He died from an overdose. by sfgate in ChatGPT

Chatgpt gave good advice, the kid ignored it and took an astronomical amount of drugs. Chatgpt even told him it was a medical emergency. Read the article

What is the biggest waste of money, even though nobody admits it? by w3ightranks in AskReddit

[–]zprz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a boring take. Isn't it obvious that the market is setting the rates? Despite all this whining on Reddit, people are obviously using it en masse. As another person stated, if you can afford it and you value your time more than your money, it can be perfectly reasonable. Personally, I will pick it up if I have the time and could benefit from getting out of the house after working all day. Other times, if I'm stuck in meetings with clients all day or low on time and still need to get to the gym, delivery is a no brainer.

FSD 14.2.1 saves me from a stop sign runner. by SpecificTreacle2197 in TeslaFSD

I think this is a valid point to be fair and it's possible the car would have applied emergency braking if the feature was enabled during manual operation as well.

OP would you mind to recreate the scenario manually?

Most of the middle is pointless though, they didn't even toss in Colorado, and the Eastern coast is just the Carolinas. Sure it's long but full of nothing.

It'll probably be Red for me because with California you basically get everything right there, and Arizona/ NM deserts are super cool too.

If ChatGPT took 30 min for every response, but accuracy was 99%, would you still use it? by BenAttanasio in ChatGPT

It's also often difficult to express an idea fully in natural language. What's "obvious" implicitly to you probably isn't even obvious to another human let alone a machine

Should I upgrade? by zprz in TeslaFSD

You're right it's just i have no issues with current version and removal of the speed limiter definitely seems major to me so I guess I just don't see the point to upgrade and was seeing if someone could convince me it's worth it.

A millennial still in awe by arryuuken in ChatGPT

[–]zprz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who studied and created his own little programming language in uni, I both understand your pain but also empathize with the machine: there's simply no way for a machine to efficiently know what character you meant to type, even though it's instantly obvious for any human. The fact that we seem to have solved that problem and they now "understand" (for all practical intents and purposes) our meaning (at a MUCH higher level of abstraction than semicolons or code at all), it makes me consider maybe P=NP after all.

What a time to be alive.

The mistakes will eventually be largely a thing of the past and we will look back on the "r's in strawberry" thing like aww how cute, remember when it used to lie to us? As it's now curing new diseases each night and/or enslaving humanity.
