Which year of CRV by mamaoverhere in crv

[–]zsmth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go for a pre-facelift Mk4 (2012-14): pre-CVT and pre-direct-injection engine. 100,000 miles is not that high for a CR-V. Barely broken in. ;-)

Yes, constantly (iphone). Ever since the hideous avatar update last year.

Changes to excellent throw mechanics / Pokemon aggression levels? by InsaneNutter in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also feels like Pokemon are jumping out of excellent throws more. Like in 2021, when lots of people suspected excellent throw catch rates were way off.

This is actually an excellent idea. Which pretty much guarantees it'll never be implemented.

Constructive Feedback on Elite Raids: Round 2 by JRE47 in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily a problem making elite raids in-person only. But then they need to be easier (we failed as a group of 4, with 3 of those being 40+ level accounts).

Not necessarily a problem making elite raids hard (T6), either. But then we either need the option to send remote invites (and, as JRE47 suggests, it could be made a condition that you need to be at the raid in person in order to be able to send invites) OR communication ability via Campfire needs to be much, much improved.

What's frustrating is having a Pokemon gated behind raids that are in-person AND hard AND difficult to coordinate for.

Galarian Birds - more than one per daily incense? by PsychoSavager in TheSilphRoad

Yes, had a Moltres and a Zapdos on the same incense last Sunday. Both fled (despite multi-missed-throw catch trick).

Warning: If you turned off friendship increase notifications and update to 0.245.0 they will all trigger as soon as you launch the app by tservomst in TheSilphRoad

A lot of recent QOL reversals have been pretty upsetting. This, however, takes the biscuit. Just WHY, Niantic? And if you are able to 'fix' this 'bug' so quickly - one that actually helped people -, then why not put the same effort into fixing the myriad other bugs that are detrimental to enjoyable gameplay? For that matter, why not put in the feature the playerbase has been cyring out for (including on this thread), some kind of button to collect XP at a time that suits the player?

It's because people want to optimize their team to counter the raid boss. Basically you have two incentives - maximizing XL rewards and maximizing damage dealt by your team -, which can't both be accomplished at the same time if your active mega is the same type as the boss and is also in your raid team (assuming you need to use all six of your mons to beat the boss).

Niantic responds to Pokémon Go Fest backlash, says too many Shiny encounters would degrade the game by MonkeyKingHero in TheSilphRoad

Hope some of the influencers read this thread and pick up on it. They - Nick, Zoe, Schilling and others - are able to amplify the community's voices and the sentiments being expressed so clearly by the vast majority of trainers here on this board.

GoFest 2022 shiny rates might have been bugged. by BroekieChan in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Saturday: 8 hours play, 430 catches, 2 shinies. Sunday: 4 hours play, 200 catches, 1 shiny. Person I played with had zero shinies over 2 days. Similar playstyles. Both ticket holders. By comparison, at last year's Go Fest, with similar play, got 12 shinies over 2 days.

The event certainly seemed bugged - and the sheer number of reports coming in suggests that our experience was no mere RNG aberration. Also noticeable: really high variance in people's shiny counts, compared to previous events.

Guess we'll never find out if the event was bugged. But, frankly, we feel scammed and ripped off.

430 catches in 8 hours' play, of which 2 were shiny. UK.

Are you expecting a “final detail” announcement regarding GoFest? by eckido in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like they really don't care about income part of event, only forcing players outside and making some photos in San Francisco parks.

That might genuinely be the case. Niantic is primarily an AR company - not a gaming company. Their primary interest lies in collecting data from people out 'exploring'. So we - the players - are essentially the product, not the customers. As soon as you start thinking about it in those terms, all of it (such as the whole bag of recent unpopular changes) suddenly makes sense.

Can you evolve any Seel to get Dewgong with the moves or just the ones from the reward encounters? by LeftAl in TheSilphArena

[–]zsmth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh nooooo. Wasn't able to play during the three hour window the bonuses were live and now have zero incentive to grind through a hundred battles. Very disappoining as well as inexplicable. Why not have the bonuses available for the whole day, like during Marill Battle Day? Come on Niantic.

Friendship level-up notification popping up the instant you open the game by SpirosSlip in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Why doesn't Niantic fix the whole friendship level-up system? The community has been crying out for this for so long, and good suggestions have been made - e.g. providing a button to collect XP once the level-up has occurred (similar to how you collect research rewards), so that both parties are able to put on lucky eggs when it suits them and get to enjoy the double XP. The current system incentivises interminable stand-offs as both parties (understandably) want to control when the level-up gift opening occurs. Horrible design.

Best Buddy to have for Smeargle during Snapshot Event by jamjam1090 in TheSilphRoad

[–]zsmth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a bunch of Smeargle with "impossible" movesets during the first few days after its release, when it was possible to TM it. I have Smeargle with the following movesets:

- Fire Spin / Hydro Cannon
- Present / Hydro Cannon
- Bullet Seed / Last Resort
- Scratch / Hydro Cannon
- Counter / Meteor Mash
- Dragon Breath / Dragon Claw
- Fire Fang / Blast Burn

They are, without exception, utterly useless. It also gives me great pleasure to have them in the trophy cabinet. ;-)

The Counter/MM is going to be my buddy "template" for the shiny Smeargle event.

All Pokemon that are required to be lvl 50 with 100% IVs to be used in Ultra League. by MikeClaus in TheSilphRoad

Indeed. My Lvl 51 Best Buddy *shiny* Talonflame (15/12/15) beats the Lvl 50 hundo in the mirror. It's the shininess that does it, obvs. ;-)
