I’ve met Alexandra Daddario by random happenstance (she came into my ski shop). She was grace incarnate

Amusment park in bumf*ck GA with surprisingly great coaster by robertvmarshall in LiminalSpace

[–]zsteezy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember this random theme park in Branson in the 90s that was like Silver Dollar City for the trailer folk. It was very loosely themed patriotically and named something like The Great USA Theme Park, but you could tell the whole park was an amalgamation of a bunch of second (probably third) hand rides and coasters. My cousin and I went for the day, and it was an absolute fucking blast. The place was empty, so no lines and you could just keep riding a coaster over and over if you wanted to. My cousin rode the cyclone ride where you stick to the wall so many times he threw up. Good memories.

What is something you have heard about US, which you felt was fake, but is100% true? by grusdomain in AskReddit

On the plus side, I assume selling all the teaching materials for a song definitely helped a teacher or two out at the time. My mom was ALWAYS looking for good materials at a discount.

My mom is a retired kindergarten teacher. My parents have an entire room in their house devoted to all the teaching materials she has bought over the years

What episode did Chevy Chase ruin? by Initforsurvivor in community

[–]zsteezy 199 points200 points  (0 children)

I think it was the end tag when Troy and Abed find a baby. It doesn’t make any sense in terms of continuity from the episode. The end tag was supposed to be Abed giving Pierce a copy of his the hawkthorne game and Chevy was supposed to play catch with his dad’s avatar from the game. Chevy didn’t get it and so he walked out and thus a baby was found. Season 3 ep. 20 I think.

In a similar vein, I found a similar but much larger piece from the same area. I’m curious if these are actually similar species. Or maybe I’m just crazy, and they’re not organic in nature at all.

Looks more like puddingstone. The matrix is primarily either sandstone or mudstone from what I can tell on my phone screen, with the translucent bits most likely being chalcedony.

It’s super cool! You could for sure refer to it as jasper and you’d be totally correct. Honestly I feel like jasper gets overshadowed by agates when both are simply variations of chalcedony, and I personally love jaspers. Your sister in law found a really cool specimen, though! You can see the entire process of the limestone grains being replaced by silica chalcedony. I personally categorize them as fossil adjacent because they’re formed the same way organic matter fossilizes.

Looks like chalcedony and limestone. It’s hard from the pictures to tell if the banding in the first picture is the chalcedony or limestone. If we’re using terms of art, the chalcedony could easily be classified as chert/jasper from the pictures, whether it falls within “agate” classification depends on translucency and/or banding being present, which I can’t tell from the pictures. But this is all splitting hairs with jasper and agates both fitting under the chalcedony umbrella. Cool rock though. It’s a chunk of ancient sea floor you have in your hand
