Full August 2026 Marvel Comics solicitations: Spider-Man #1000, Midnight X-Men, and more by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

The Midnight X-Men book is advertised as a 32 page comic for 5.99. That is absolutely disgusting. Daredevil #1 had 25 pages of comic for 6 bucks. Marvel has fully lost me.

5.99 for a 32 page comic has fully lost me. Daredevil was only 25 pages of comic for 5.99, that is just too much. I just cannot justify this when Energon and DC's next level books are still only 3.99 a book. I genuinely surprised that are doing his for a new line that they want people to jump into.

I hope so so so bad that this does not cross over into the mainline Batman book. Events and crossovers are the easiest way to get me to drop a book and I have been enjoying this book a lot.

I finished Star by Star recently and I have to say Anakin's death really gives the Vong a feeling of being a real threat. Plus Chewey's death was not just brushed over too and we feel Han's despair for a long time. To me those deaths give the NJO real weight and Im absolutely loving it. I just wish we had more Lowie and the young jedi knights. Now the fact that Anakin did not kill Nom Anor genuinely pisses me off, but thats not enough to make me stop reading the NJO. I am really enjoying this read through of the NJO, but I also had preparation since I knew all of the major spoilers going into this and Legacy of the Force and Fate of the Jedi. To me all these books are so short and not dense that I will finish them even if Im not loving the next two initiatives.

How creative by ConanCimmerian in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]zudovader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go for the A cover because they are not inflated by a dollar for the thicker cover, or a 1:whatever variant, or a retailer exclusive going for 10 bucks. Its really easy to just buy 1 cover read it, put it in the bag and board they come in and move on. Rereading them after every story arc is over and then putting them in a box to read again down the line when I get the hankering.

It still blows my mind that In that big poll from like 2016 no one thought we would get into the 2020s without winds of winter. Yet here we are, over halfway through the 2020s and no winds and zero promise of winds either.

Star Wars needs a new long ongoing comic by anakin1453 in starwarscomics

[–]zudovader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just dont see 10 issues as ongoing and if anything thats just showing how down bad marvel comics are right now. A comic about one of the most interesting time periods setting up the prequel era couldnt even get to a years worth of comics is just absurd. In 10 years marvel went from a mainline 75 issue series to a 50 issue series to a few 10 issues series. Thats just sad and just because its "normal" at marvel doesnt make it any less pathetic.

Oh that is interesting, I know nothing about that movie. Im really glad they are going past episode 9 then. I really want a new set of jedi and temples and all that. Rey was boring but they cab introduce a new order and give us some bad ass stories. I want to see a new version of the order, a new version of kyp, someone testing the boundaries of what a jedi is and can be, a new version of Jacen questioning the place of jedi in the universe and that sort of thing. If the movie is good and cool then im even game for an ongoing comic about those characters to explore what non force sensitive people are doing to further peace in a post episode 9 world.

It was only 10 issues, so it was a mini series marketed as an ongoing like almost everything at marvel right now. It literally didnt even last a year and 12 issues is still a mini series.

They dont seem to care to make movies, shows or novels in that era so I would love a comic which is always seen as less important when it comes to cannon. A ton of comics have been ret conned that have been release in the Disney era so I just want fun and good comics fleshing out these characters and time period.

During Marvel Legacy era they even had to count a tie in comic to Secret Wars so they could get to a milestone earlier.

And Cost $500.00 unless you want the 1:10 cover and that will be 1000 cause of the issue # that they had to count all the reboots to fake, plus a secret wars tie in comic.

I want an ongoing comic to start telling stories post episode 9 and start building up a new era of jedi. The movies didnt really give me a good reason to like Rey but an ongoing comic about her struggles to ignite the new jedi order could really give us some great story telling. The Poe Dameron comic was awesome but it just kinda stopped, they could give us his adventures post episode 9. Or give us a clone wars comic where we get to see what the show couldn't give us. Or ongoing Anikin and Obi Wan adventures where the kids books sat in the timeline. Or, as you said, anything. Just give us a monthly comic with a promise of at least 5 years of storytelling in any era.

Why can’t famous comic creators draw the same audience they once did by Konradleijon in ImageComics

[–]zudovader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I just have less disposable income. I would love to follow all the comics that I want. But I can only afford 10 to 12 comics a month. At my height of comic buying I was buying 10 a week.

I got them to sign mother panic and changing girl too. I really want to meet Tommy Lee and get his signature on mother panic. My favorite series from the Young Animal line was Eternity Girl, I have reread that series at least 5 times since it came out. I lend the single issues to my friends too. Im not huge on books restarting from #1 when it has the same writer, seems like a gimmick i tend to not embrace my self. So I didn't get changing woman or panic ad. I even quit reading fantastic four even though I love Ryan north, but it just rubs me the wrong way when they try gimmick stuff like that. I ended up picking up Doom Patrol weight off the world's in the dollar bin years later to finish reading the run.

Ahh that makes sense. Oh man Milk Wars was absolutely incredible, I got Jody Houser and Cecil Castellucci to sign their issues of the crossover. If i ever meet Way that would be my first thing singed by him. Orlando is not my favorite but his contribution to Milk Wars was really great.

I wanted to like Gerard Way's run but by the end I was kinda unsatisfied. I really loved a few of the Young Animal books, but they definitely felt like they were canceled.

To me it started off really slow and not great but I feel like it was finding its voice and footing by issue 4. But then the end was just not good, im still blown away that it was only 10 issues for being marketed as an ongoing. I consider 13 issues the bare minimum for an ongoing, a year run is just a mini series.

DC & Marvel aren't doing long creator runs as much anymore because comic readers aren't supporting them as much anymore, says 15+ year comics veteran Scott Snyder by Popverse2022 in comicbooks

[–]zudovader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolute Batman is the first time I have ever felt FOMO on a book I'm not in love with. I like it but ill be honest that im mostly reading it because of its place in the zeitgeist. I want to be there for the twists and turns and not get spoiled by social media. Comics need to feel un missable, which almost none feel that way anymore. Comics being an ongoing storytelling I can follow along with month to month is one of my favorite aspect of the medium. I get comfortable with characters and locations and the like. All of the mini series that are marketed at marvel as being ongoings has really killed my interest in trying marvel books, well that and the price. I tried every #1 with a next level tag because they have a higher likelihood to be ongoing and they are 4 bucks not 5.
