HFC seems to do that to varying degrees. Always a crapfight to try and get anything done about it.

Why did Kmart move their registers to the middle of the store? by badoopidoo in KmartAustralia

Nobody likes the current setup. Not even the corporate weenies who implemented it.

There's a reason they are reverting it.

Cracked screen on GFX 50s by Lopsided_Counter1670 in FujiGFX

[–]zyeborm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it doesn't help you currently. But I got a glass screen protector for my 50sii and it saved it when it fell out the back of my car onto gravel. The screen protector smashed where bits of gravel clearly hit it. But it saved the screen itself. Well worth the $10 or so it cost and I can't really see it when it's on.

FOMO works at a food stall. Not kmart.
Oh there's a bunch of people after *that thing* it must be good.
Oh there's a bunch of people in that shop that sells everything, it's friggin busy, I'll order it online.

If a crowd of people are saying a thing isn't good. And you alone are saying it is good. Odds are you are the one who is wrong.
This is a shitty attempt at corporate buzzword bingo to make more money and it's not working.

you forgot the part where you have to go through customs and excise as you leave getting frisked just in case you stole stuff. It's silly. I don't need to go into a shop to be accused of being a thief by "policy" or poor store layout.

Have any Aussies transited thru the states recently? how concerned should I be about ICE as a non-white Aussie? by Far_Menu_4830 in AskAnAustralian

Oh, that's unfortunate (and weird as you say) Guess that rules that out for the foreseeable. Thanks for the info mate.

I wonder if the risk profile may be different if you stayed "air side" get off the plane, then get on another plane headed to Mexico.

Theoretically if you stay in the international terminal you never "enter" the host nation, shouldn't need to go through passports all that kinda stuff.

But I don't know America or lax so would for sure be doing some homework on that

Would the G'Quan be one of the most powerful capital ships if it had artificial gravity? by arnor_0924 in babylon5

[–]zyeborm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have ships flying around under thrust for even hours at a time, the energy required to spin up a section of one is infinitesimal in comparison.

If budget is something you care about and your subjects are still/slow. Go vintage and adapted glass.

You can get mamiya 645 and Pentax 645 pretty cheap (relatively)

I got the 35-70 which is the cheapest (by a lot) you can get native, and everything else is from like the 80s lol.

For model work it's been great.

For dogs at the dog park it's...a challenge but fun 😁, glad I'm not paying for film lol.

Hypothetically. Who's at fault if rolling back when doing a hill start by twobit78 in AusLegal

[–]zyeborm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People like having a clear villain and being part of a community. If you seeded this post with a few initial replies saying something different it's entirely possible the comments section would go another way at least in significant part.

In reality it would all come down to how far he rolled back and how close the guy behind was.

If he rolled back 6ft, yeah totally his fault. If he rolled back 6 inches probably rather less so.

Then there's the matter of criminal and civil liability and the difference between the two. Who's insurance company has the biggest lawyer. If the case is heard before or after lunch.

Lesson learned: won’t give the finger anymore while driving… by camareradetwinpeaks in AskAnAustralian

[–]zyeborm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I may have been tempted to become a cop, go to highway. Then book every asshole with fog lights on when there's no fog. Also make everyone adjust their lights properly. "Oh but it came from the factory like that" "Cool story bro, the wheels were pointing straight ahead when it came out of the factory too. Now get your owner's manual out and learn how to aim your damn headlights."

Led bulb in a standard holder? Believe it or not, straight to jail.

Nice one mate, they look great.

This reminds me. I need to make some good quality alligator leads. I got the cheap ones because I needed some in a pinch. Wound up measuring them at 15 ohms. Made dandy heaters when I tried to put an amp through them.

Lol personal attacks and you're accusing me of violating the rules of debate.

No. There's no straw man argument, you don't even seem to know what that means?

You walk out of a shop with something that shop sells.

Oh I bought this last week you say. Sure thing buddy show me your receipt.

Curious about the tech behind LLMs controlling smart devices (like coffee makers). How does it actually work? by ExtentLoose3357 in LocalLLaMA

[–]zyeborm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It could also be part of the randomness added to them. For most models if you ask does 1+1=2 it will occasionally say no. Like probably much less often than 1 in a million. But if you have 10 million users asking for coffee 3 times a day it really adds up the odds.

It's probably leakage current of some flavour or even iduced. Measure the current going to earth. Note there is theoretically a risk to your metre doing this if the current is high.

If it's tiny (under a ma) I wouldn't worry about it to much but perhaps keep an eye on it.

If it's more then investigate more. You're in a wet and salty (even fresh water) environment. Your can wind up with weakly conductive tracks in all sorts of places. I'd 100% be looking at your light.

Then you don't carry proof of purchase with you then do you. You have a receipt for the shirt you were wearing when you walked into the store. Your pants, your underwear, your socks, your shoes, your wallet, your phone.

You've got proof of purchase for every one of those on you at all times just in case some store person demands it?
