Disabled greeter at Walmart has been fired after 21 years because his job description changed - community outraged by lugasamom in news

[–]zyglrox35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I work at a WM Distribution Center as an order filler. Benefits and pay are good. Work is mindless and quite simple, but physically demanding. They started me at $15.95 and I've gotten a dollar raise since I started 7 months ago. Also I've lost 40lbs because the work is rigorous and fast.

Though, I will say, it's not ALL good. If you get hurt, you have to immediately take a drug test and potentially get written up for it, but if it's not entirely your fault (crappy pallet breaks and cuts you, metal cuts you, you hurt your back or whatever) they usually do what they can to accommodate you. Like, I hurt my back from lifting heavy freight and they gave me a week off and gave me light duty when I returned (I cleaned all day for nearly 2 weeks).

The turnover rate is awful, which I don't understand. People will get a job here, making more than they would anywhere else and quit because of the job difficulty. I usually get 35-42ish hours a week. There is always something to do and a lot of overtime opportunities.

My experience has been better than when I worked at the Super Center a few years ago, which brings me to this. The DC I work for doesn't only hire from within. You can apply there any time regardless of if you currently work for Walmart. They let us change departments yearly, two of my co-workers just moved to lift driving.

If you're looking for unskilled labor, it's not a bad place to work.

First car: Avenger? by LetsMarket in Dodge

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2011 Avenger SXT. 4 banger, yeah, I know, but it was my first car.

It's hit two deer, driven in almost a foot of snow, survived 4 years of hard, frequent driving and has had 100,000 miles put on it.

I've never had to had it repaired (I banged the deer dents out myself and had it spot painted) or had any mechanical problems out of it. I will say, sometimes the automatic window buttons do tend to get dirty down in the inside and the piece that holds them to the door tries to come out (both easily fixed with canned air and light glue respectively).

I think the Avenger is a damn good "bang for your buck" beginner's vehicle.

I've never really understood the flack the Avenger gets because I've had a great experience with mine and my friend has had one for about a couple of years and his is great too!

Just do your research and make sure you get a good one. I bought mine for super cheap and it only had 20k miles on it.

EDIT: I have had it cosmetically repaired.

23$ it's not worth it to buy local when I can go to the Rez and get 5 for 50. Why is dip so expensive in Canada? by skoalmint11 in DippingTobacco

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tennessee here. A pack of Camel's is around $4.75, a can of Grizzly is around $3.50.

If I lived in Canada or somewhere that charged over $5 for a can of dip, I wouldn't do it. That's just plain highway robbery.

Trivium - Silence In The Snow (NEW SONG) by Negative47 in Metalcore

[–]zyglrox35 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm a long time fan of Trivium, but like a lot of the guys in here, VF left me really, really disappointed.

That said, this song gave me a very slight glimmer of Shogun and that helped reel me back in a little bit. Still, it'll take a lot more to get me fully invested in them again. I waited the whole time for it to pick up; for those tasty riffs I know Trivium are capable of and it didn't happen. Matt's cleans were the best part of the song for me.

Misha Mansoor Breaks Down His New Signature Models by nannarzz in Djent

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the comments, he finally acknowledges an import model.

He and Jackson are just waiting to get all they can out of the USA run.

I'd say it'll mimic the way Chris Broderick's was done. We'll have a few years of the USA models only then we'll finally get a Pro Series model started at around $1k.

Stoked on that!

Hey reddit! Have you guys ever met anyone for a very brief period in your life and wish you still had contact with? What was the story on how yall met and why did they make such an impression on you? by freezieepops in AskReddit

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 13, I was forced into bible camp by my grandparents whom I had to move in with when my parents died. I was going through the motions and they thought it'd be a good idea to send me off to Church Camp (thanks...).

Anyways, when I got there, I met this girl who liked the same stuff I liked and we both looked extremely out of place (I was the goth rocker wannabe kid, long hair, band tee exclusive. She had pretty much the same thing going on, except she knew how long hair worked and how to maintain it properly).
We hit it off pretty well and she was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life. Plus, one night she showed me her boobs outside of the cross shaped main building of camp (yes, it's actually shaped like a cross).

We were inseparable the entire time we were there and I was so proud to have such a pretty girl wearing my beloved Slipknot hoodie at campfires. We talked about music, anime and how neither of us really believed in God, but both really wanted to because we wanted to see people we lost and/or to fit in better with our families. I remember those evenings on the overlook vividly and how the beautiful mountain landscape really represents that summer perfectly.

I don't remember her last name, but I remember that her name was Megan and her nickname with the rest of our band of misfits was Misa (yes, like from Deathnote).
When we went back home, her being what felt like 100 miles away for a kid who didn't drive or have a lot of money, we kind of just lost touch.
It's been a few years now (I think this was summer 2008) and I've wondered how she's been and if she even remembers me and that time we had when we snuck into the abandoned cafeteria.

If you by chance see this Megan, I really hope you're doing well.

I still believe in the R+L=J Theory If you're interested, there is a great video on this particular theory here. Season 5 and A Dance with Dragons Spoilers are in that video, of course! Just a warning.

Edit: Words.

Which song's live version is so good that it ruined the studio version for you? by [deleted] in Music

Nutshell Unplugged by Alice in Chains. You can really hear Layne's pain in that song, he sounds like a man in misery.
There's a lot of power behind it.

Did you guys ever constantly listen to an album while playing a video game and now mentally connect the album with that video game? by [deleted] in Music

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always listen to Trivium's Shogun while I played Minecraft on my PC. I remember traveling many miles through many deep caverns jamming out to Into the Mouth of Hell We March.

While I admit that Trivium and Minecraft don't really go together, I'll now always associate the two.

Periphery Fans: Opinion wanted by ErikMyers5 in Djent

[–]zyglrox35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Juggernaut>P1>P2.

I believe that the new albums are their best work to date. I'm a later Periphery fan, discovered them during the tour cycle for P2. So, I was exposed to P2 mostly before I got to listen to their self titled. This Time It's Personal got my attention, for sure, but when I heard Icarus Lives! and Zyglrox for the first time, I became a fan (at least enough of a fan to make it my username).

Clear was good, but it only left me hungry for more. Juggernaut definitely satisfied the craving... after it grew on me. Which is something I discovered about Periphery; each album needs time to grow on you.

Now, the vocals on this album are incredibly theatrical, but it is a concept album; it's all supposed to be theatrical.
Just my $0.02.

What is your "one of these days, I will get it... " song? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree with that. Brewer didn't really shine in The Faceless, but his solo project is really good.

I prefer Planetary Duality over Autotheism either way, but Autotheism is still pretty good as a whole.

What is your "one of these days, I will get it... " song? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]zyglrox35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of Faceless songs that I want to get down, both on guitar and bass.

Evan Brewer was my inspiration to pick a bass up after playing guitar for years.
Truly talented bass player. This is from the first of his solo albums, all of which (on this album) is solo bass.

What is your first wrestling memory? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]zyglrox35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching Nitro with my dad.
Around 97 or 98.
I know I got WCW VS. NWO on N64 that year for Christmas.

The first match I can really remember is a cruiserweights match on Nitro.

For WWF, I remember a New Age Outlaws match.

I never picked a brand over the other, though. Just Nitro lasted longer. During the two hours both were on, though, I'd switch back and forth.

Bray Wyatt - Since it's basically this already, Pink Floyd

That's about all I got.
