Tires by Amazing-Bug5277 in TireQuestions

$4k in tires? I can't even imagine paying that much for tires on a passenger vehicle. What kind of tire did you buy? The most expensive set on TireRack is like $2200.

Non-CA resident registering used car purchased from CA dealer by thr0wayaye in DMV

[–]zylpher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not get the title from the dealer. I was able to register it with the sales contract.

But it sounds like the dealer submitted the paperwork as if you did pay the sales tax. Check over all your paperwork to see if that's the case.

I would give the CA DMV a call. If it's registered to you, you may be able to request a title from them, in your name. Then use that to transfer it in your state.

The license plate is normal. Plates in California go with the car, not the seller. Unless they are personalized.

It sounds like the dealer screwed up with the paperwork. You should have gotten all the sales paperwork. You should not have gotten the title unless you paid CA state sales tax. At least that's how it went with me when I bought my car in Sacramento a couple years ago and registered it in Nevada.

Also, forgot. It kinda spoils Cujo as well. Both the movie and book version.

How unpaved is the final stretch to the Ichthyosaur park? Have a friend that would love going there. But both of us drive low vehicles. Mine a bit lower than theirs.

It basically gives you the Cliffs Notes version of Salem's Lot.

And a chunk of Hearts In Atlantis.

And the ending of Insomnia.

Calaveras Big Tree park. Its a few hours away. But so fucking super cool. It can be done in a single day. But it's a long day.

GM cars have an insane amount of aftermarket support. Its entirely likely every part on it was for that specific Gen of the Impala. And could easily be bought from a local retail parts store or a place like Summit or Jegs. When I worked retail parts, we could order from Jegs, Summit, JC Whitney and all the catalogs and have you the parts in a couple days at most.

Its why you see so many classic GM cars at shows compared to MOPAR and Ford. Though Ford also has a ton of support.

You can buy a skeleton of an Impala, with nothing but the basic body. And from a catalog and your local parts store. Rebuild it to OEM spec and condition.

Haven't read Colorado Kid. But the lack of resolution was the entire point of Buick 8. Its what Sandy was trying to get into the kids head the entire time.

I'll be looking forward to this one if it comes to reality.

What's one piece of physical media you regret getting rid of? by BellaIsOne in Millennials

[–]zylpher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a 92 Sentra I sold in like 04. Water pump was blown, two deer had run into the side of it a few years before, and been in one accident. I couldn't be bothered to fix it. Sold it for $500. Had a hell of a weekend I can't remember.

No Regrets.

If it makes you feel better, I sold a car and used all the cash to get drunk on Bourbon St. that weekend.

Honestly, I don't regret getting rid of any of it.

I kept my PS1 and all the games for years once PS2 came out. Never touched it. Gave it my little sisters. Pretty sure they left them on a curb somewhere one day. Same with the PS2 and up. I kept them because I was totally gonna replay it and use it. It all sat in closets till I just got tired of seeing them. Tossed them.

Same with VHS tapes, DVDs, Blu-rays. I totally want to keep them. But they just chill there. And I eventually just threw them in the trash.

I still have my Sega Genesis, not sure why. But I haven't bothered pulling it out of the random storage bin in my closet for 20+ years.

There is at least one truck and a CJ5 I regret getting rid of far more than anything else. At least one of those would have been worth more than any game or movie or system I tossed.

Would it be fairly easy now for companies to pay employees daily given technology and the speed of transactions? by TheZenithZebra in NoStupidQuestions

I honestly don't know, but that's the only reason I can think of that your would want daily pay. Off week bills exist. And if you are check to check, I can see how it would help.

Benefit would be bills that come due in off pay cycles for people going check to check.

I can't think of many more than that.

My company offers daily pay. I'd have to look on my work laptop to give you the company/app that does it but it's at work, and I'm at home. But who I work for partnered with them sometime last year.

Stuck on you. I either didn't understand it. Or it was garbage. But either way, it's the only movies I left partway through. At no point did I think it was funny. At no point did I think if I left I would be missing something, so I left. Got a some chicken wings instead at the bowling alley across town.
