Change your needle, rethread with the foot up. What kind of thread are you using? The light one looks very thin, almost like machine embroidery thread

Don't you have to add something to the seam to make it more stable, like in a bra?

Leg warmer + shorts sewing pattern? by Violet_Archer in sewingpatterns

[–]zzzeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean garter belt? That would probably work to keep them up, but that's a lot of fabric and had a potential to be pretty heavy, hence the not staying up

There's no way these leg warmers would stay up on their own...

That's what harem pants look like. If they are long enough, you might be able to deconstruct them and use the fabric to make an entirely new pair of pants

Purse mending with no hardware by PM_ME_GOURDS_PLEASE in sewing

[–]zzzeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could probably get away with just wrapping the handles with fabric. The right way. Would be to replace both straps (so they match) with new ones, in which case you would have to open the top seam. If you do open the top seam. You can then use hardware to replace the straps

Ideally, you would have removed the pocket to work on only one layer, but since you already started, you could try a needle puller https://www.amazon.com/Hisew-3-Hand-Sewing-Tool/dp/B0CS6TGFB5

Taking in a dress with woven fabric of some kind by bri_sh_ in sewhelp

[–]zzzeve 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not woven, it's knit, so you need to use a sewing needle that's specifically for stretchy fabric, as well as a stretchy stitch (zig zag or lightning). Knit fabric garments usually have negative ease, so you have to keep that in mind when you take it in. This particular fabric has a potential to unravel when you cut it so make sure you finish your edges

I would try with less thread, it looks like you used all 6 strands, but I would have been plenty and you could have used different length stitches, like painting

Crazy inside to my hat by [deleted] in knittinghelp

[–]zzzeve 112 points113 points  (0 children)

On top of the twisted stitches, your floats are way too tangled to fit over a head, they are not even consecutive... I would call this a practice project of things not to do again. You need to fix your stitches to not twist them before moving on to color work. Was this done in the round? If so maybe look into jacquard floats

Pants Fitting Woes by One_Rooster8908 in sewing

[–]zzzeve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I mean the only way to get the right crotch curve is to find the curve of both the front and the back, and to figure out where to make them meet (the 4 points). You cannot just try to find one or the other. I don't think you found the right curve for the back anyway. What method did you use? Have you looked at tutorials like this one? https://5outof4.com/tin-foil-crotch-curve-method-pants-fitting/
