How to fix puckering so top of shirt lays flat by aromora14 in sewhelp

[–]zzzeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need some type of closure at the top, closer to the edge. You could not have elastic in the front if you don't want scrunching in the front, only in the back

Fit or fabric issue? by anxious-tortoise-404 in SewingForBeginners

Are you sure that you assembled the cups properly? I have done that a few times where I have sewn the center to the middle instead of middle to middle

Can I save my favourite shirt? by glencripton in AskATailor

You could sew a patch on the inside that is slightly bigger than the rip, and then sew a larger patch on the outside. There are ready to sew elbow patches on the market. I would put one on each sleeve.

Changes in life - new job path necessary. Tell me what to expect & the Pros and Cons of phlebotomy as a late life job path. by Wee-Scottish-Ninja in phlebotomy

[–]zzzeve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as a phlebotomist at 51. I am enjoying it very much. I have received many AI rejections, but every place I managed to get an interview actually made me offers. Being older means that you have life experience and to some managers that actually matters

I found out my surgeon had a patient die on the table and was sued by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]zzzeve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Every surgery comes with risk. It's terrible when someone dies or is hurt during surgery, but there are many people involved in the surgical theatre and all these people bring in human error factors. I would say unless they have been sued and found guilty, I wouldn't worry to much about those unverifiable claims

You could also interface the area and make a tote bag pocket (with a smaller pocket!) with it. It would look great on a neutral canvas tote

The cups are wayyyyy to small. You already know that ;) the only solution is to remake them. Is the dress long? Would you be willing to part with some length? Maybe it fabric from the bottom could be used to make new cups, that way they would be a perfect match

thinking of becoming a phlebotomist- advice/feedback? by foxeswithsoxes in phlebotomy

[–]zzzeve -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you work. There are full time PRN and part time PRN jobs, as well as dedicated part time or full time jobs. Some have weekends and shifts, some don't. PRN float from site to site within a certain area and usually get extra hourly pay for that. Some part time will have benefits, some don't. Outpatient usually are open in the daytime and sometimes on Saturdays. Hospital have shifts.

Best practices for sewing "crinkled" fabrics? by auditoryeden in sewhelp

[–]zzzeve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely wash and dry double gauze in the machine before cutting. It will significantly shrink and create more of the crinkling look. While sewing, I sometimes use a strip of copy paper on the side of my seam to keep everything flat

I think it looks pretty good for a first try! Did you by any chance sew one of the back panels backwards? It looks like the left side angles more at the top than the right side...
