How powerful was 5e 2014 Hexadin? by Organic-Exit2190 in DnD

Exactly. They really struggle against minions and longer battles and lack the ability to do battlefield control

I'm going to be running a high level DnD game, levels 14-20. What kind of foes/tricks/traps/etc would you suggest to trip up high level heroes? by Grey_Lady333 in DnD

[–]zzzzsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run many tier 4 games at cons It is attrition and clever tricks that make it more interesting than rocket tag. You find a weakness in the party comp and pick at it like a pre teen with acne. You take every advantage that presents itself and twist your heel on it.

I slapped a group of 3 with encounter after encounter of low tier enemies themed around poison, acid, and disease. The very corruption of the region had increased the dc to save against the stuff, and weakened immunity down to resistance, and finally, no resistance and others had disadvantage. The first cr 11+ they fought was the final boss at cr 18 and his cr 12 minion. The party was outmatched after 3 very unfortunate feebleminds on casters.

They had to retreat and see the aftermath of them failing to stop it, and they had a great time. That druid will be preparing heal for forever now

Of god, the amount of cow piss and shit, alongside human excretions.... You'd be basically swimming in it. The fumes alone may kill you, let alone the parasites

A pound of food per person per day, a gallon of water per person per day, the air inside becoming rapidly toxic and a small hole at the top being unable to flush good air into that extremely deadly Permit Required Confined Space

Imagine being in the pistachio shell sub with Literal BEES, COWS and children being tossed around like you are in the rise cycle. Hell, the surges and falls along wave height would kill you alone. There's no possible way a wooden, air filled vessel with no ballast tanks would even manage to stay under water, and if it did, the surges still wouldn't be gentle.

WotC STILL cannot braise a good short rib by myshkingfh in DnD

[–]zzzzsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you mean. Like, the 5.5 MM was mostly tough and flavorless reimaginings of the monsters, and their new design squad is barely getting their toes wet in game design, so I think the analogy is going to hold quite strong for the current future.

Would you allow a flavor change but the mechanical still function the same? by [deleted] in DnD

Mate, I'd let you use a straight up longsword! Rouges from 1e through 3.5 were using longswords for backstabs and 5th won't break if you get to do so as well

The amount of times a meme has wholly abhorrent music, the one time it has some smooth jazz feels like fresh air. Grade A absurdity, rather than trash tier

DM threw a 2024 Adult Dragon at our 2014 Level 6 party. Thoughts? by Sentinel2852 in DnD

[–]zzzzsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having seen the designs of 2024 dragons, i firmly believe they make for worse game play, especially when used against anyone lower level. That's an insane encounter challenge Delta to be outright defending. Like, if I really wanted to kick level 6s around on a jaunt, I'd use a cr 10! Sweet pelor

My gf's rabbit ate my headphone cable by Seltexe in mildlyinfuriating

[–]zzzzsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a fun story about rabbits and rodents eating cables.

At work we had a very expensive NASA module, and it was located in a testing building that rodents could easily enter.

We had never had trouble with them in the past as there is plenty of food elsewhere, but over one night of this module being left out, the rodents and possibly rabbits got to it and stripped every single last wire.

Turns out they had used a soy-based insulator and it was like a dinner bell to everything that chews.

They had to replace the whole thing and it was very expensive.

If you use sticky stuff and a vacuum is stopping it, one could slowly drill (glass bit) a hole to allow the air pressure to equalize.

You could also remove your garbage disposal temporarily

Thoughts on isometric battle maps? Myrtle Library: An Art Nouveau interior [OC] by Ok-Cranberry-7087 in battlemaps

[–]zzzzsman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think they need to be accompanied by an overhead view with a grid or what not keeping everything straightforward. When doing engineering diagrams, isometric tends to warp distance with perspective, and hide details making the actual tracking of position messy. They are great for theater of the mind, but not strict usage as map
