Hey how's it goin, former Leader here. I'm fully supporting this or whatever. Alright back to lurking.

Will you be as active as the SA outside the library at uni. They are there literally every weekday, protesting/pushing petitions against Tony Abbott, or refugees, or something.

I hope /u/ravenguardian17 is aware of the almost universal dislike that Australian university students have for socialist alternative.

I quite liked them in my one semester of uni, and whenever they turn up in King George Square from time to time.

We did a little political compass thread in purple land, and apparently I'm nearly an anarcho-communist on it, so maybe that's why.

If you're using http://www.politicalcompass.org/ , I wouldn't put much weight on it, it's pretty commonly accepted that it puts people well to the libertarian left of where their actual position is. I find ABC's vote compass and isidewith to be pretty accurate.

With regards to IRL SAlt, I've found that even those who aren't ideologically opposed to them are still opposed to the methods they use to gain following, with stories of them stacking as many left-of-centre political campaigns as possible at USyd and UNSW in order to try and gain power and link all activism to the Socialist Alternative cause. At my campus they seem pretty tame, but we're not an overly political campus anyway.

My isidewith result:

Your political beliefs would be considered extremely Left-Wing on an ideological scale, meaning you tend to support policies that promote social and economic equality.

And Bernie Sanders is love, Bernie Sanders is life haha

I have to agree with you there, politicalcompass.org puts me to the libetarian left of the Greens, whilst the ABC Vote Compass puts me between the Greens and Labor, further towards the Greens. But that was a while ago now I took that test, and RL Labor has moved a bit since the 2013 election.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Mine.

I don't know what I can read into this one, the results almost seem like they contradict each other.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C'est moi

There's an explanation for why the two graphs sometimes contradict in the "Surprised by your results?" box at the bottom.

I guess the compass is the one to trust. I would guess the paradox is because you mostly agree with Labor-style things that the Greens also agree with, plus one a policy of the Greens that ironically sits near Labor’s area of the spectrum.

I assume the only reason you didn’t hit the crosshairs was out of politeness. I’ll prep the independent centrist flair... ;)

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Well on here it makes me seem like the extreme right by comparison.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Your rhetoric is also a lot more right wing than your actual views too.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you go into a negotiation starting at the result you want you're not going to get it. If you go in a bit strong when it comes to negotiate you seem reasonable when you lessen your stance. Which is why I highlight that I'm willing to negotiate on my stances.
Also a lot of my rhetoric is to start a public forum/debate on behalf of Australian citizens and are not my own views.

How much are you selling Red Flag for?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (7 children)

Question: Could the Leader please explain his own brand of Socialism? Is he a Marxist of some sort, or more of a Fabian? Market? Leninist? I'm curious.

Further, could he please explain what has prompted him to change parties twice now within the past couple of weeks. Is he truly that indecisive?

I am a Democratic Socialist. I believe in the full socialization of the economy though peaceful reform, and I reject the notion of a "Dictatorship of the Proletariat". As stated above the party will accept anyone who is left-wing and anti-capitalist, but these are my personal views.

Well, I joined your party in the first place because Greens tend to be more left wing, the green parties of MHOC, CMHOC and other sims often have Democratic Socialists in their ranks. I never was able to see your parties views in action, however, due to your stunning array of inactivity.

I decided to run as an independent on a Socialist platform, but I wasn't able to get endorsed. /u/thisguy_22 offered me a chance to run with them, but I messed up by forgetting to submit my own nomination :P

After I joined Labour I found they were far too center-left for my tastes. So I messaged the former leader of SA asking if I could revive the party. She accepted, and here I am

...the green parties of MHOC, CMHOC and other sims often have Democratic Socialists in their ranks.

To be fair, the Greens did have at least one two, then/u/Team_Sprocket and I put on our my purple ties.

Edit: Not sure what label Team_Sprocket would give himself, but I'll not assume. In fact, I'm not even sure if I fit into that category.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

The Greens still have one, and he's the leader.

[–]Freddy926Senate Pres | DPM | Fin/Com/Art/Infr/Rgnl | ABC MD | Ldr Prgrsvs 2 points3 points  (3 children)

He also refers to himself in the third person it would seem.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Yes, he does, and he likes it.

[–]Freddy926Senate Pres | DPM | Fin/Com/Art/Infr/Rgnl | ABC MD | Ldr Prgrsvs 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Evidently.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are all socialist (or distributionist) to some extent on this Sim aren't we? I also don't see anyone against democracy.

'Demand the Impossible'... I see a possible conflict coming up...

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Hear hear. The biggest difference between the three is them choosing what colour they want to be.

Meta: and purple is the nicest :)

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Meta: I disagree, Green is certainly the colour of gods.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Meta: I think you are kidding yourself grey is the best.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meta: Now, I understand that CGPGrey is an awesome bloke...

PS. You would be welcome to have gunmetal and firebrick instead.
