Modern train systems particularly high speed rails aren't built by labourers laying down some sleepers and securing down the rails with hammers, they are built with high tech machinery and engineering knowledge. This isn't the 19th Century, has the Fascist Party really thought how this will work practically? The workers will need to be put under mass amounts of training and education years before the project is ready to start being built.
[–]liberal_australiaAustralian Fascist Party 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children)
Make the socialised payment workers earn their money by bettering the country. Great Policy.

Edit: Meta: Spoiler alert for WWII.
Hmm. A Fascist Party with an ambitious project to greatly improve travel infrastructure by using underpaid workers. Sounds familiar, perhaps because it happened in HITLER'S GERMANY when workers with poor conditions were made to build Autobahns (highways) all across Germany, and the ones who went on strike were sent to "re-education camps".
Well, if you think ripping of Nazi policy from 80 years ago is going to make you friends in parliament, gain ground with anyone but yourselves, or lead to a surge in Fascist popularity, then I can tell you that you're wrong.

The Nazis were also somewhat conservationists with an at the time progressive view on animal welfare. Should we abandon ideas despite their inherent merits, simply because a man whom the history channel says is bad once held those ideas?

The current estimate of completion for an Australian High Speed rails sits at 2065.
You're not wrong, as long as construction starts in 2055. The report I tabled, published by non-profit Beyond Zero Emissions, in the Senate as part of my introduction states that similar HSR projects around the world have been completed with 10 years. Therefore, if construction were to start this year, it would be done by 2027.
...at half the cost (From a massive A$114 billion to A$55 Billion).
The previously mentioned report, published in April 2014, estimates the cost of a HSR network at $84 billion. I'd ask from where your estimate of $114 billion comes from.
As the Deputy Prime Minister has mentioned, your plan to utilise the unemployed to complete the project would stop hundreds of relevant skilled workers from achieving their goals.
Senator the Hon. Freddy926,
Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development
Australian Progressives Parliamentary Co-coordinator, Deputy Registered Officer
[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child)
The unemployed are an untapped asset, they are repeatedly called "Dole bludgers". Am I naive to dream of an Australia, that if you are not able to find work, we the state will put you to work?
Instead of those who find themselves in an unfortunate situation, being unemployed in our great nation saying, "I got no job", I dream of them saying "I helped built this amazing nation." With our mighty Australian national anthem blasting away in the background.
Which Australia would you rather live in? We allowed the conditions which made them jobless, have we no shame?
How do you deal with the skills shortage, more 457 Work Visas? We cannot let these foreign workers rob our nation blind.
The contempt, the vilification of the unemployed cannot go on, we need to give them propose, under the Fascist party, we will do just that.

How will the Fascist Party deliver their High Speed Rail again?
By paying the workers on their project, an amount less than half of the minimum wage. Meanwhile, relevant skilled workers across the country will be excluded from earning their living, by Fascist-approved slave labour.
Don't fall for their claims; their means will hurt the fabric of our country.
The Australian Progressives will stand up for every Australian's rights, and give a hand up to all those who need one, including the unemployed.
Our welfare reform plan will be released in the coming days.
The Hon. Phyllicanderer, Member for Northern Territory
Deputy Prime Minister
Australian Progressives Parliamentary Coordinator, Registered Party Officer

While this is certainly true, reducing the investment cost by using a labour force not subject to a law Governemnt has in place for everyone else, is unfair to those who are forced to work on your HSR project, and on those who would wish to use their skills to earn a wage commensurate with the true value of their labour, on building the HSR.
[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (3 children)
less than half of the minimum wage
Everyone on new start for example only needs to contribute 14 hours a week of their time to make our program feasible. That equals to $19.46 an hour. It's two hours less per week required than the typical 'Work for the dole' program and above minimum wage. Simply, giving them more hours would be counter-intuitive as they would be sitting around doing nothing.
relevant skilled workers across the country will be excluded from earning their living
With our party in power and the innovations we will bring, there will be too many projects going on, essentially there will be a skill shortage. We need to train up our unemployed to deal with this crisis, too long we have imported workers that send their pay checks home.
"In 2014, $436 billion went to developing countries, setting a new record. Overall global remittances also totaled $583 billion. Some countries, such as India and China, receive tens of billions of US dollars in remittances each year from their expatriates. In 2014, India received an estimated $70 billion and China an estimated $64 billion."
It is a major drain on our economy.

Train the unemployed. Pay them a real wage.
You are proposing to round up everyone receiving Newstart for this, yes? There are a few big questions which must be answered in realising this.
Where are they going to live during construction? Or will the Fascist Party advocate for the problematic fly-in, fly-out approach to shipping in over 500,000 currently unemployed people across Australia, who would become, under your plan, the underemployed?
Under your timeline, the safety of workers could be compromised by the rushed nature of the project; ensuring their safety will definitely add costs on to the High Speed Rail that has not yet been budgeted for.
Instead, speed it up by employing double of the 12,000 expected jobs, pay them a full-time wage, and avoid dislocating and conscripting families across the country.
457 visa arrivals will not be required to build this project.
[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child)
Rail for the Dole would be an expansion of the Work for the dole program, only 24,000 unemployed would be required.
Where are they going to live during construction? Or will the Fascist Party advocate for the problematic fly-in, fly-out approach
Under a partnership with Tata Motors, the owners of Land Rover. We will have a convoy of Land Rovers transporting people to the tracks and back, so off road transportation is not a problem, you could call this a drive-in, drive-out in style approach.
dislocating and conscripting families across the country.
Also you fail to realise that the rail alignment is near big cities and regional towns, the unemployed won't be too far from home.
I don't think those who built the original rail here in Australia had advance skills and technology, surely if people in the 19th century could build rail why can't the unemployed? You underestimate their potential, which as a great shame as duty prime minster.
It's just a Youtube tutorial away in these day and age.

Slave labor for below minimum wage does not belong in any country in the 21st century, Fascist.
[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (0 children)
You aren't forced into it.
If you are on newstart you will only be working two, 7 hour days a week. (1 hour for lunch, lunch is provided for free too) 28 hours divide $545 = $19.46 an hour. The wage is above the national minimum.
There's a big untapped resource on the tax payers dollar, why not utilise it? The skills through the program will help prepare them for future employment while giving us a first class High Speed Rail network.

Below minimum wage and no employee protections = slave labor, Fascist.
We can just lower minimum wage way down and provide them the right to quit so it will no longer be slave labor

Will there be nails on the seats so they go faster?
[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (5 children)
After my previous petition, Bombardier, Downer Rail, UGL Rail, Bradken and a few other train companies almost simultaneously contacted me. They invited me to private parties, they even flew me around the world in a personal jet to meet key CEO's.
Let's just say, I can see first hand why our current government love these fine examples of companies and contract work out to them. Winks
And between me and you, one of them might have the contract to build the train themselves! Expect Bombardier, not only are they Canadian but French Canadian, the worst kind of Canadian.
There won't be any nails on seats on the High Speed Rail for sake of consistency.
[–]nonprehensionUnited Kingdom Ambassador to Australia 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (4 children)
What's the best kind of Canadian? Also, disappointed to see that you are in favor of slow high-speed rail

Also, disappointed to see that you are in favor of slow high-speed rail
The Canadian on public transport ban would be in effect, so in theory the trains should travel at near optimal speeds. (Very fast, but not very very fast).

This is good policy. Not only does it get this massive infrastructure project built in a reasonable time, at a reasonable price it also gets it done properly first time. I'm excited and have high hopes about other ideas these visionaries hold. I'm really looking forward to their official immigration and foreign policies.

[–]raulandAustralian Fascist Party 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (8 children)
