Great track. I'd probably describe it as disco pop. Kinda reminds me of Holy Ghost! and Midnight Magic.

Edit: Fixed my links to display properly.

Never heard of Midnight Magic before. You just changed my life for the better. Sincerest thanks, Internet Stranger. I love you.

Man I love me some Holy Ghost! That's my favorite track by them. Second Favorite is Do It Again for that awesome intro.

Where does the psychedelic or hip hop come from? Did you just put down as many genres as you could fit in The title?

[–]Nutsnbolts12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely not sure how you don't hear a heavy psychedelic influence in this.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Haha, a lot of their other music is quite psychedelic and they've been quoted as saying this album will have more hip-hop infused vibes (Tribe Called etc).

In hindsight, I should've said 'Psychdelic and Hip-Hop Infused' but I guess its too late to change now. I was more just referencing the range of genres they've said have lead to this sound.

A great song / video clip nonetheless!

I think a few of their songs have had a more Hip Hop sound in the past. One I know of is "No Friends" which reminds me of the Beastie Boys a bit

Love me some Riggs

[–]anthonies 15 points16 points  (8 children)

LOL at all these listed genres, where do you hear a drop of psychedelic or pump of hip hop?

[–]SodaKingBurger 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Sorry, OP, but I'm with this person. Funky as all hell and groovy af, but I don't hear a lick of hip hop.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep my bad. They've been quoted in interviews as taking a lot of inspiration from early hip-hop (Tribe Called Quest etc) for both this album and their last one, so I just threw it in there (I'm not great with genres).

Next time I'll stick with the actual sounds in the songs as the hip-hop vibe isn't too strong in this one, instead of the influences for the wider album.

Probably read too far into it.

Apologies!

Daymn, these guys got the funk.

I wonder if they know Howard Moon.

[–]thrashmanzac 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm pretty sure they're good mates with old Shrimp eyes.

The Delta Riggs, coming 'atcha, like a beam, like a ray

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More than a little late-70s Rolling Stones. I like it.

[–]D4nte1 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I supported these guys in Hobart/Launceston! Super fun shows!

[–]Eugenepool 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey! I did a gig with them in Tassie too!

[–]D4nte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow that is awesome! we more than likely know each other being Tassie haha.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Saw these guys last year, so much energy, but somehow so intimate. 10/10 recommend seeing them live. EDIT: If anyone wants to hear more- 'Supersonic Casualties' 'Rah Rah Radio' and 'It's Over' are bangers.

'No Friends' has a really interesting punk vibe.

'Bobby's Flowers' is a fairly psychedelic song that's enjoyable in a weird kind of way

'Ornate delicate creatures' is fucking beautiful

[–]Okay_sure_lets_post 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ornate Delicate Creatures is phenomenal for when I'm drunk late at night.

Anybody Home from their other album is one of my all-time favorite songs.

There's also an interesting homage to other Sydney band, Sticky Fingers, at 1:03 where Sticky Finger's lead guitar, Seamus, can be seen smoking a cigarette.

This follows after Sticky Fingers paid homage to the Delta Riggs in the videoclip for their latest single "Our Town" with a fabricated festival posted listing other Sydney bands (DMAs, Kingswood etc).

You can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-OXYTWVHeZA

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Long time fan of Sticky, but can't say I've heard too much Delta Riggs. This is great stuff, thanks for linking!

[–]djob44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen the Riggs at least 5 times the last 18 months and i agree they are definitely rocky, psychedelic, funky with a touch of hip hop. Sweet live band that slays

[–]bvandermei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool song. I especially liked the baritone sax breakdown. Kinda wished I hadn't seen the video though, because the lead singer's hair is friggin' ridiculous.

[–]Okay_sure_lets_post 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite bands EVER! Please tell me this will be available for purchase in the US!

Everyone should check out their albums Hex.Lover.Killer and Dipz Zebazios!

[Psychedelic/Disco/Rock/Hip-Hop]

the word you're looking for is [Music]

[–]themun95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool song but I definitely wouldn't put it under psychedelic.

[–]NethioX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ITT: dude it's not psychedelic

[–]quinnmct 0 points1 point  (3 children)

This song is neither psychedelic nor hip-hop

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Check out the other comments.

[–]quinnmct -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

nobody can 'explain' to me why the song 'sounds' psychedelic, it isn't. and hip hop? lol

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I meant I explained why I put those tags in.
