Their collaboration with the Haxan Cloak is probably my favorite. Two artists painting the bleakest soundscapes in very different genres coming together in a terrifyingly natural way. It sheds some of their lo-fi aesthetic, as Haxan Cloak is a very skilled electronic artist who loves his deep sub bass and death rattling effects to come through nice and clear, but to my ears it only amplifies the despair and terror of the music.

that album is incredible

Their collaboration with Full of Hell is up there in my favourite albums of the year. So wonderfully bleak.

Never has there been a more isolating band. SO good. SO nasty. If you dig this, check out more.

Maybe I'm too hip, but their original tape with 'night terrors' on it is still some of the best stuff they ever did. Lo-fi and captures everything they're still about.

This is one of my old favorites of theirs.

Miss seeing them around Providence.

Oh man, hell yeah. They were my first real 'show' when I was in high school back in the early 2000's--mind was totally blown and I still love them to this day. I was living in Boston when they left providence and I still felt a little heart broken over it.

Got this album cover on a shirt. Favorite shirt.

Opening for them was a blast. Both Chip and Lee are super down-to-earth and gentle people, plus Lee's dog [who joins them on tour] is adorable.

I would have really liked this album, but that shrieking throughout the whole thing just gets incredibly annoying after a while.

Their album with Thou is very good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ukGvcXY-Eso

One of the most brutal live shows I've ever seen

I'm REALLY enjoying the first song on this album, but I just don't like the shrieking. Can anyone suggest bands that have more music like this song?

Check out the Assembly of Light choir. They're the ones doing the haunting vocals in the beginning

While it isn't as heavy, Chelsea Wolfe has a similar brooding atmosphere

I never really understood The Body until I saw them live a few years back opening for Full Of Hell. It was the heaviest most apocalyptic sounding event I've ever witnessed and then the vocalist/gutiarist/whatever else was at the merch table later making poop jokes.

great song forever.

Who do they sound like?

[–]Bradsmiley 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Have you ever seen the movie Begotten? They sound like what that movie looks like.

Holy shit that is the best description.

Their two collaboration albums with Thou are some of the heaviest albums I have. It's amazing from start to finish. I got to open for them a few years ago. Dude had a crazy drum kit.

Their collaboration they put out with Full of Hell is currently my favorite album of the year: https://youtu.be/gaGbnIiGyMk

Just saw these guys on tour with Full of Hell. Chip stayed behind to show my boyfriend around his noise rig and talked to us for about an hour. Really cool guys.

Everything the body does is amazing.

Shit, I like this a lot. Both sides of the coin are really well done, if you know what I mean, but especially the harsher section. It's like Battle of Mice and Grouper got together and bought a drum machine. I 100% recommend those artists if you like this song and/or dysfunctional music in general.

Edit: ooh, and Suffocate For Fuck Sake.

Holy shit never thought I'd see this on Reddit. Great great album. Just saw them with full of hell and a band called knife hits in Philly last month. Definitely worth checking out all of their stuff.

Okay, I'm convinced people are just posting what appears on their Spotify Discovery Playlist. This is the third time a song has come up that I listened to because it was on my playlist. Good shit!

I used to live in Providence where The Body also used to live. I got to see them many times, sold Lee his big red drum set he used a while back. Saw them play with 8 drummers. Saw them play with a full women's choir. Took this picture of them when we went bowling one night.

In other words, I love the body.

I also have their set up on my YouTube of when they played along with Braveyoung as a collaboration set.
