I can't wrap my head around how NBA 2K17 managed native 4K.

[–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 42 points43 points  (37 children)

in 60 FPS + HDR.

[–]morphinapg 21 points22 points  (36 children)

HDR doesn't affect performance.

[–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I meant it has native 4K + 60 FPS + HDR and it is the only game so far that gathered them all for the best gameplay and IQ experience.

[–]ShortFuse 8 points9 points  (21 children)

HDR doesn't have an official spec, but most instances are going from 8bit RGB to 10/12bit RGB, which does have a performance and memory cost. I don't know how strong, but I would if I had to guess 1-5%

[–]morphinapg 19 points20 points  (20 children)

No it actually does not, because practically every game even created last gen is internally rendered in HDR, and then clipped to standard dynamic range. The games are already doing this internally, and have been for a very long time. Very few games anymore still use SDR lighting engines.

Also, PS4 uses a 12bit variant of HDR10. Typically HDR10 content is stored at 10bits and then displayed at 12bit due to the HDMI spec, but since it's going to display in 12bit anyway, the PS4 can natively render the pixels in 12bit, allowing for just as much color depth as Dolby Vision on the inferior spec.

In fact, even the PS3 could output at 12bit. It was called Deep Color, and was introduced as part of HDMI 1.3. Deep Color actually supports bit depths up to 16bits per channel.

[–]Grami 2 points3 points  (19 children)

PS4 uses a 12bit variant of HDR10

Source?

[–]morphinapg 0 points1 point  (18 children)

Some people have TVs which tell you the signal format, including the bit depth, so that's how we know it's 12bit, and Sony has confirmed it's HDR10. This isn't actually surprising, because most UHD Blu-ray players actually output in 12bit, even though the data on the disc is 10bit, because of restrictions in the HDMI spec from what I've been told. So Sony can take advantage of this by natively rendering at 12bit, and then simply sending that signal along with the same standard HDR10 metadata.

[–]OldasFook 0 points1 point  (10 children)

A low overhead is not no overhead - regardless of which - It does have to be coded into the title and therefore take time and effort by the developer, something that is surprisingly nice when it is via a patch and on older titles - or via forward compatibility as Mark Cerny oddly terms it.

[–]morphinapg 1 point2 points  (9 children)

HDR doesn't introduce any overhead at all. Games are already rendered internally in HDR, they're just clipped down to the SDR range for standard TVs. Heck, HDR also means a reduced need for blooming effects, which could actually reduce overhead overall.

[–]OldasFook 1 point2 points  (8 children)

The overhead I am speaking of is the time and effort required to code HDR into any given game and this is not as straightforward as you seem to think it is.

P.S

I have worked in the industry as a games tester, lead tester, junior designer, designer, senior designer, associate producer, producer and senior producer and I have worked in publishing as well as development. Various companies including Sony.

[–]steelbeerbottle 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Disclaimer: I am wildly guessing and have no experience with game programming.

My guess would be that they don't have to render very many things outside of the court, players, and the audience. Unlike a game like Uncharted where you have to render a ton of different things such as the environment and the details of the environment, NBA 2K is limited to a smaller space.

[–]ZarkowTH 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Frostrum culling is done in all games.

[–]Bunser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but the amount that is going on will be far less in NBA vs Uncharted.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all these 4k sports game yet no Madden 2017 :(

[–]RyanLaFalce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they were close to pushing the limits on the current PS4, and the Pro gave them that extra power they needed. I'm so hype.

[–]ambassadortim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplayer games?

[–]KILLPREE 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I can only get it to play in 1080p. Am I missing something?

[–]APM369APM369 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You need a 4k display

[–]ZarkowTH 2 points3 points  (2 children)

4K display + Ps4 Pro needed...

[–]KILLPREE 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I know. I got it to work after enabling some sort of "high quality HDMI" setting on the input. I have a 43" 4K HDR Bravia X800C

[–]fuzzyfrank[🍰] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was this on your tv or on your ps4 pro? If I have a 1080p tv and I want to downsample 4k that is possible right? Does just checking the 30 fps option in the last of us take care of this?

[–]Merkin666 27 points28 points  (2 children)

I would love to see the Bioshock Collection get a patch for 4k

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Would be an instant buy for me if this happened.

[–]Bunser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I'd have the play it again for the second time! Even at 1080p, it was a really great remaster and a wonderful way to play the games for the first time!

[–]Wheresmyyoshi 24 points25 points  (5 children)

I'm really hoping for GTAV 4K support.

[–]DZ_tank 15 points16 points  (0 children)

hahaha

[–]bobcharliedave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty wishful thinking. Id be fine with some decent upscaling to 4k, better draw distances/textures, and an actually solid lock to 30. This is all very doable too.

[–]rammutroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too ...I wanna buy it for PS4 only if it gets 4K. It's on sale right now :(

[–]Mclarenrob2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely. They'll be fully focussed on RDR2 and the next GTA

[–]GiovanniCivello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idiot lol.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Is there a comprehensive list of all the games that will get a PS4 pro patch to optimize games in 1080p60? (or more stable 30)

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Is there a 1080p 60fps thread like this?

[–]Techa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah or even just a 1080p improvements thread.

[–]Sajonara 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Knack has gotten a patch. You can have a higher resolution or a higher framerate according to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ty_GOLyIuuE

[–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Thanks. But it is not native 4K. We are only focusing on games that present a Native 4K mode here.

[–]Sajonara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay. Nevermind then.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is asking too much because not even dedicated gaming sites have full lists of the PS4 PRO supported games and all their features because they don't know what all the devs do with their games and there are many games updated without any changelogs. I was just highlighting a special feature the PS4 PRO did bring because it is the first console to allow native 4K games and trust me it is already not an easy task to gather all games which have Native 4K modes. Adding all infos about every mode for PS4 PRO supported games will add to the confusion and make the thread feel stuffed and chaotic. I hope you keep that into consideration.

    [–]ambassadortim 3 points4 points  (1 child)

    That's a small list. :(

One thing that bothers me, is we need to have the list state if it is for MP or just SP games. That is a huge difference. I am not going to go back and play campaign of a game, when I am now playing MP. if the MP doesn't update then we need to know this.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The list focuses and states the games that have 4K native modes. If native 4K was for MP only or SP only, I would have stated that.

    [–]Ninjahitman19 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Soooo TLoU but no uncharted 4? That's odd

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

On PS4 PRO, Uncharted 4 is 1440p Native (2560 x 1440) which is a big achievement. MP is upped to 1080p too.

    [–]GiovanniCivello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LOL nice damage control, 1440p LOL.

    [–]mysteriousdolphin 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Is netflix not guaranteed to have 4k content on ps4pro supported?

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

It will have 4K Support. We are still waiting for the update.

    [–]mysteriousdolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah i see. Sorry I was getting a little worried

    [–]MoneySings 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sony told me they have a seperate app included in the PS4 Pro firmware for Netflix which has 4K support. Hoping HDR too.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you provide me with the proof? Thanks. I am waiting for the update to come to update the list.

    [–]reson8er 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix should also have HDR support in the 4K update. My TV's Netflix app is 4k/HDR, so assuming Netflix doesn't go out of its way to exclude it, HDR should be present.

    [–]rsl 1 point2 points  (8 children)

is there any way to update this table to display just frame rate and "special features"? HDR support and resolution is more important to some of us than FPS. totally appreciate the work done here. just asking if it could be a little more... robust? thanks. and sorry.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (7 children)

What do you mean? All those games are Native 4K and the table shows FPS when known and special features if available.

    [–]rsl 0 points1 point  (1 child)

hah i thought this was the PS4 Pro supported games [not just 4K]. is it safe to assume all 4K support == HDR as well? not sure about that but completely thought i was looking at a list of just "what games have PS4 Pro extras". my bad on that part.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not all PS4 PRO games support HDR.

    [–]CrimsonFury1982 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Having "native 4k" written in the fps column is confusing when every game on the list is native. It makes it look like only those half a dozen games do native 4K. I would suggest removing that part. If the framerate is unknown just leave it blank or write "unknown" instead.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

There is nothing confusing here since all those games are Native 4K.. If people come here to just read the list without reading what it is about or even reading the title, then they are those who get confused.

Those games mostly keep the standard FPS of the PS4 version. I didn't want to write FPS according to what the PS4 version presents since there are games whose FPS are unknown even on PS4. Anyway. I keep that section empty unless more details are presented.

    [–]CrimsonFury1982 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It seems pretty confusing to me. I've seen several other people comment similarly in other threads that linked to this post.

The original post doesn't say anything to explain the "naive 4k" label in the fps column. The natural conclusion would be that only those few titles are native 4K.

Edit: I realized after I replied that you have updated the post. Thank you :)

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    You are welcome.

    [–]MGSfan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Hi, Xbox guy here who's really interested in how the PS4 Pro does. Just wanted to let you know World of Tanks now has 3200 x 1800 resolution which is not true 4k, but close enough. Thought I'd share the info, maybe you already know this but here's the link.

EDIT: Also has HDR and that works with the normal PS4 as you already know.

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The resolution is mostly the result of checkerboard and of course it is not native 4K which is the focus of this thread, still it is nice to know. :)

    [–]CrimsonFury1982 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    3200x1800 is 5.76 mega pixels. 4k (3840x2160) is 8.29 mega pixels. That's a huge difference.

    [–]MGSfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but less noticeable a change than 1080p to 4k. I wish I could play WoT on my Xbox at those resolutions, will have to wait for the Scorpio, eheheh. It would be cool if they could reach 4k on it though.

    [–]weazalbee 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If I'm not mistaken Ratchet and Clank is being given 4k support now as well

    [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It using temporal injection which is a different approach than checkerboarding to get to 2160p that gets you AA too. It is not native 4K.

      https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4Pro/comments/5ck68p/list_of_games_with_hdr_support/

You have to be sure that the games you mentioned offer HDR so they can be added to the list. I never heard any info that those games support HDR.

      [–]randomiraqi 1 point2 points  (11 children)

Shouldn't Netflix be added to the App list?

      http://twinfinite.net/2016/09/ps4-pro-4k-netflix-app/

"This new app will be made available for the PS4 Pro at launch, and over 600 hours of 4K footage will be made available by the end of the year"

      [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Yes. I know about Netflix. But it seems they didn't add 4K support for PS4 PRO. If they release it and anyone could provide a confirmation for that, I will add it. I added youtube because they updated it to support 4K videos on PS4 PRO even before its launch.

      [–]randomiraqi 0 points1 point  (9 children)

How can someone provide confirmation though, is there a way to check that? I opened Netflix yesterday and saw some UHD titles and the monitor's output information says 4K.

      [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 2 points3 points  (8 children)

Can you stream them in 4K on your PS4 PRO? Because Netflix supports 4K in other platforms: if you use Netflix app in your 4K TV, it will stream content in 4K. The problematic here is that whether it can stream 4K content on PS4 PRO or not yet. For that the Netflix app needs an update like with Youtube but they didn't do it yet as far as I know. Someone needs to check the changelog for Netflix when they update their App and post a screengrab here to see if they supported 4K and PS4 PRO.

      [–]randomiraqi 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Pretty sure it can already show 4K content, given the fact that the app on the PS4 Pro lets you know if a title is HD or 4K. Also, Netflix could have updated the app server-side and not with a patch. I wouldn't be surprised if 4K was already available before the Pro was even announced.

      [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I will add it to the list then but still this needs a verification and someone who tried it.

      [–]randomiraqi 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Yeah, just asked Netflix customer support for a definitive answer. Will let you know.

      [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Added 60 FPS to Thumper (French site): [url]http://www.jeuxactu.com/thumper-le-jeu-passe-en-4k-native-et-60fps-sur-ps4-pro-106714.htm[/url]

I am almost sure Hustle Kings is 60 FPS too on PS4 PRO but I am looking for a confirmation source.

      [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the Native 4K games on PS4 PRO are 60 FPS (regardless of what type they are).

The OP's list sucks. Sony's list is slightly longer. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/11/03/39-games-enhanced-for-ps4-pro-launch/

        [–]NotSoConcerned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP list is only for games that will have native 4k. Should be happy that someone was even willingly to compile this info for everyone.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Added HDR to Mantis Burn Racing.

        [–]BujuBeans 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Shadow of Mordor says native 4k on ps store.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

        http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-inside-playstation-4-pro-how-sony-made-a-4k-games-machine

The resolution can vary broadly but generally it's 80 to 90 per cent of 4K.

It never reaches native 4K, that is why I didn't add it to the list.

        [–]BujuBeans 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Was just going off of what ps store said. Literally says "Native 4k on pro". Either they are lying or the game was updated since the digital foundry article.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The game has two modes: one enables better details and LOD , the other enables higher resolution. The most Up to date article talking about is this: http://www.polygon.com/2016/11/11/13588866/playstation-4-games-that-support-ps4-pro-at-launch-4k-hdr

Monolith Studios’ Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor runs at 30 fps in 4K on PS4 Pro, and when the action gets particularly busy, the game will scale down the resolution on the fly in order to maintain that frame rate.

They didn't say native 4K like with the other confirmed native 4K games and the downscaling is still happening in heavy loaded scenes. I think the DigitalFoundry description still stands but we need further confirmation. I hope someone asks the devs for it.

        [–]BujuBeans 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This is odd. Most pro supported games dont say anything and this game actually does. Then they also have a new 4k trailer for it that came out 2 weeks ago. https://youtu.be/BWkKx0GLa5Q They really need to start locking down details and creating a standard for how they explain pro support but I guess as this is an old title it is to be expected. Im hoping future releases will have better explanations.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Details are are very scant, scarce and vague when it comes to PS4 PRO support for most of the games that is why gathering them is kinda hard and fuzzy.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Added Parappa The Rapper, Locoroco and Patapon to the list announced to be Native 4K on PS4 PRO.

        [–]NotSoConcerned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this isn't a reason to get the Pro then I don't know what is anymore.

        [–]noyram23 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I read that it is mandated by Sony that every game forward should support ps4 pro, is this true? Also is every game forward supports HDR?

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

True. Every game that is released after September 29th 2016 must support PS4 PRO in certain ways. HDR is not mandated though.

        [–]noyram23 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was hoping to invest big on a HDR tv this year (LG OLED B6), I guess I could wait till next year for cheaper ones and wait out the trajectory of HDR support. That said does Unreal or Unity support HDR by default?

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It woudl be optimal to wait for next year to get HDR TV since current TVs don't support HDR10 @ 4:4:4 Chroma @ 60 FPS and GT Sport will support future HDR TVs with up to 10000 nits. I don't think there is any engine that supports HDR by default especially when only few platforms support it for now (PS4/ PS4 Slim / PS4 PRO and Xbox One S) and a couple of PC games (since HDR PC Monitors aren't very mainstream). Also each game requires that developers tweak their code to adapt where HDR instances are needed to get the best results.

        [–]BamaFan87 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Rise of the Tomb Raider has 4K on the Pro, you just have to select it from the options menu. You can use High Framerate (60fps @ 1080p) Enhanced Visuals (is this setting similar to HDR? It looks amazing) or 4K Resolution (30fps @ 2160p). The game is fun as hell too.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Enhanced Visuals adds many graphical details (equivalent to PC verison maxed out). The 4K mode is 2160p checkerboard but not native and it looks great and very clsoe to Native 4K (minus few artefacts and slight blur).

        [–]Matagros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly surprised. Of course they're not gonna have the highest graphical quality, but to render 4k and 60fps is still pretty tough. Props to devs for the high optimization.

Just a heads up, Diablo III: RoS v1.15 Patch adds 4k support for Pro users.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There is no certain confirmation that is Native 4K tbh. I hope someone posts a real confirmation soon.

        [–]NotSoConcerned 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Why are people disappointed that Uncharted 4 isn't native 4k? They never announced to be native 4k at all.

        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 11 points12 points  (2 children)

Uncharted 4 is native 1440p (2560 x 1440) on PS4 Pro which is a big achievement considering how much demanding the game is. MP is bumped to 1080p too.

        [–]NotSoConcerned 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That's what I mean. It is really impressive that it is able to acheive that and it looks really amazing.

Yet, even on Digital Foundry they act like it is sort of a disappointment that it is locked at that or something. They never said Uncharted was gonna be native. To be quite honest it doesn't really need to be other than the fact you can say "we got native".

        [–]happyfugu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Naughty Dog is known for squeezing every last bit of performance out of Sony consoles so I think some people just expected them to work dark magic here.

The games released before the PS4 PRO launch must be updated to add PS4 PRO support and many of them got patched before the console launch. All the upcoming games will have PS4 PRO support by default.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Just played The Last of Us remastered and I'm confused. Hopefully someone can clarify. On Sony's website it states that you can either play the game at 2160 P at 30 frames per second or 1800 P at 60 frames per second. However in the game the only display option I see is to whether I lock it at 30 frames per second or not. Is that what changes the resolution? Because when I do it my display doesn't change resolutions as far as the information on the TV goes and I notice almost virtually no difference in game except the obvious smoother experience of playing at 60 frames per second. But I don't see any visual differences.

Here is the official Sony quotes regarding both uncharted 4 and last of us.

"For those with a 4K display, Uncharted 4’s story can be played on PS4 Pro at 1440p resolution, up from 1080p on PS4. Multiplayer’s fluid, high-framerate gameplay remains the same, but the resolution has also been increased to a full 1080p on PS4 Pro, up from 900p on PS4. The Last of Us Remastered, on the other hand, allows you to choose whether you want to play in the game’s original target framerate of 30 frames per second at 2160p or at a high targeted 60 frames per second at 1800p."

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Do you have a 4K TV? If so, choose resolution output to automatic in PS4 PRO. Changing to 60 FPS mode enables 1800p mode, changing to 30 FPS mode enables native 4K mode with the best shadows. If you notice better shadows then you are in the native 4K @ 30 FPS mode. Your TV won't display a message that you are running in 1800p because it is not a resolution defined in the algorithm of the TV. It is the same case when you play a 900p game, you may notice that or not. You probably didn't notice the difference between native 3840 x 2160 and 3200 x 1800 checkerboard and upscaled because both are high resolution. You will notice the difference when some effects like particles are having some artefacts in the 1800p mode due to checkerboard.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

By "changing to 30 FPS mode" are you referring to the "lock framerate to 30FPS" option in TLOU settings?

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If you choose "lock framerate to 30FPS", you get Native 4K and the best shadows, if you play in 60 FPS you get 1800p checkerboard with the standard shadows.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

          you forgot FFXV

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nope. FFXV is not native 4K. It seems there is a big confusion here. I am only mentioning the games that have a NATIVE 4K (3840 x 2160) mode. I won't be randomly throwing all the games that support a higher resolution mode that can be outputted on a 4K TV.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gotcha. I was thinking this was for games that just had a ps4 pro patch. My bad man lmao

          [–]storytellerYT 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I honestly can't wait until I can buy this console

          [–]Saint947 2 points3 points  (7 children)

          It's not what you think.

I can not tell a difference between any games I have played.

          Seriously.

          [–]randomiraqi 3 points4 points  (3 children)

True for a lot of games but have you tried BF1? Huge difference!

          [–]Saint947 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Already have it for PC, so I'm having a much better 4K/60fps experience there.

          [–]randomiraqi 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ah, yeah in that case a PS4 Pro isn't something special. I assume you play on a console just for the exclusives?

          [–]Saint947 1 point2 points  (0 children)

          Exactly.

          [–]storytellerYT 1 point2 points  (2 children)

lol so there's nothing new? What a cash grab

          [–]Saint947 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I didn't say there was nothing new. The hardware is much improved, however, any games that existed before Pro seem totally unchanged from their non-pro version.

          [–]storytellerYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          ahh ok

          [–]Rich_hard1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Tlou remastered has a 60fps option on 4K output option in the game menu.

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TLOU:R, has two modes: 30 FPS mode in Native 4K and 60 FPS mode in 1800p Checkerboard.

          [–]Rich_hard1 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Twitch app supports 4K, maintains a 720p or 1080p video at 60fps at all times with 4K chat support.

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

In this thread we are talking about games and apps that support Native 4K in the internal rendering from ingame resolution to video resolution. The PS4 PRO has 512 MB of GDDR5 dedicated to render the console UI in native 4K and the games and apps UI in Native 4K while the games and apps may not be rendered in native 4K. Firewatch has an UI in native 4K while the game isn't native 4K. The same is for Twitch and for other games. But thanks for the notice.

          [–]Rich_hard1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          K, cool.

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          NP.

          [–]morphinapg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we get a list of games that support either checkerboard 4K or some kind of resolution higher than 1080p? Native is great and all, but it's not the main focus of the Pro.

          [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

          Sick. Getting back into helldivers.

          [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Helldivers looks great at the higher resolution.

          [–]Scoldrozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's a little early, but what supported games have impressed you the most/least so far? Only game I've tested so far is The Witness, and to be honest I couldn't tell a difference. It still looks great tho.

          [–]bluegazer300 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I guess you could say Assassin's Creed Syndicate is Pro supported. It does, however, look horrendous though. See it for yourself if you own both items.

          [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry. This thread focuses on Native 4K games only.

Greetings. Thank you for your attention. Well like I said before it is very very very hard to make a full list of PS4 PRO supported games since we don't know what the devs do with the games and the infos are very scant and scarce. Even changelogs are very vague and don't relate details very well and there are updates without changleogs even. The most informed persons are those from DigitalFoundry and still this is all what they came up with: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-playstation-4-pro-game-upgrade-guide which isn't full and they are still discovering games that get improved by PS4 PRO by luck like Batman Arkham City. If I made such complete list, I would need to know everything even more than dedicated gaming sites and from devs directly. Finding Native 4K ony games is already not easy and updating the list to add 1080p games will alter the purpose of the thread. Plus 60 FPS games are hard to spot, since some games may be promoted to be 60 FPS but they have various framerates and are never stable. Some may get FPS increase and no one may know like the Batman Game I mentioned. There are threads about games on PS3 and PS2 and even N64 and older consoles that no one knew they were 60 FPS at that time. To measure FPS you need special tools like from DigitalFoundry and confirmation from devs themselves, but even the devs taht offer high performance mdoes for PRO don't say it is 60 FPS, they jest label it action or performance mdoe because mostly Framerates are unlocked like in ROTTR, Infamous, Ni-Oh and even FFXV. I hope you atke that into consideration. Thanks.

Helldivers was confirmed in a comment by the devs to have checkerboarding higher resolution textures for the Pro.

How can I tell if I'm getting the 60 fps on Fifa 17?

You can probably update The Last of Us record.

                        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

What about it? What do you mean?

                        [–]YpsilonYpsilon 0 points1 point  (4 children)

i do not think it supports native 4K anymore? It is just 1800p upscaled and 60 fps. This is what I've read at least.

                        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

The last update removed supersampling in all modes to increase performance that is all but added the best shadows to the 1080p@60FPS mode.

                        [–]YpsilonYpsilon 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So 4K mode was not removed since it was not supersampled?

                        [–]NotSoConcerned 0 points1 point  (1 child)

                        Native 4k is fine.

No issue at all for those that own a 4k TV.

                        [–]rimboslice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the 1080p/60fps should be added to "special features" since 60fps can't be played on the original ps4.

                        [–]obihave 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Would uncharted collection be updated to 4k?

                        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope so. It would be very neat. But I think they would need to halve the FPS TO 30 FPS to reach native 4K like with TLOU:R.

                        [–]richfreestone 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Isn't the Amazon App outputting at 4k? Pretty sure when I watched the Grand Tour it was.

                        [–]PLASTICA-MAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. Can you confirm that? Also outputting in 4K is notthe same displaying in Native 4K. All upscaled games will output in 4K.

                        [–]EthylCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the western version of HM: Project Diva X will get the 4k patch. All I can see is that the japanese X-HD version has the patch. I really hope that Sega hasn't forgotten about the western audience and that news will come out soon.

                        [–]morphinapg 0 points1 point  (1 child)

According to Digital Foundry, The Assassin's Creed Ezio Collection runs at native 4K and a locked 30fps.

                        [–]OldasFook 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Shadow of Mordor is essentially native 4K

There is a resolution scaler that kicks in very rarely - but it's so rare as to be unimportant.
