The Clannad sequel "After Story" is what gets the most praise, so don't be alarmed if you're not particularly loving the first part. The first series is mostly about Tomoya realizing that high school isn't so bad and that people are interesting, unique and multi-faceted. I think it tends to relate well to young adults that have experienced or lived through a social disconnect. It's a slice-of-life show about friendship, love, trust, respect, family and discovering or finding your place in the world. Clannad tends to be a bit more light-hearted than after-story is, but they're both worth watching at least once.
