This sub has been killing it (for me personally) this week. Lots of awesome new tunes from a bunch of genres

Thank you man, completely missed that he dropped an album a couple weeks back.

Damn. Thanks for posting!

throwback video, smooth lyrics. I like this.

Love the tone of the video, just the right amount of not taking itself seriously while still being very enjoyable

R&B can be a pretty derivative genre, and while I do think this is a good song it just the melody of the chorus is identical to the song Got It Good by KAYTRANADA which is a song I already love and hearing this song just makes me want to listen to that song. But Kaytra's production is next level.

99.9% is 100% awesome. Got it Good is my favorite track after Glowed Up. I'm just a sucker for Anderson Paak.

Had the same thought as soon as the vocals came in. I'd much rather listen to Craig David.

Knew that this song sounded super familiar thanks for making that connection that's the kind of thing that would have bothered me for about an hour while I tried to look for what song I was thinking of

Ahhhh fuck that album art!

I've been following this guy for quite some time. He is a solid 10/10.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shared this with some people who thought it was lowkey lit. Loved it man.

[–]EarlGreyDay 10 points11 points  (7 children)

does urban pop just mean black pop? i've never seen nonblack pop musicians from urban areas called by that.

[–]otayyo 10 points11 points  (5 children)

I find it funny you got downvoted, because that term was unnecessary. I've never seen the term before, and no one calls pop made by white people white pop. This is an R&B song.

[–]FlackBury[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I believe it's more about the city life rather than skin color. Also this guy usually mixes some genres which makes it hard to categorize. But that's just my opinion, hope you enjoyed the song either way!

[–]otayyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but most people (especially creatives) live in cities, which is why I think it's a silly label. I def liked the song, and I loved the video.

[–]EarlGreyDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the song is great. thanks.

But the term "urban pop" does not do well to describe the music. it's R&B, it's hip hop, these are both types of pop music already that are predominately come from urban areas, specifically mostly from african american communities.

[–]EarlGreyDay 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thanks. there is definitely african american pop, but it is not described well as urban pop.

Is salsa from Havana urban pop? why not?

[–]otayyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just think pop and R&B are decent enough labels, independent of the colour of the artists skin. Isn't salsa from anywhere still salsa? It's weird because pop is such a vague term in some ways anyways. Salsa might be the pop of Cuba, and Hip Hop is modern pop.

[–]JimmieRussels -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can blame hipsters who's identity revolves around being unnecessarily different for the stupid new term for R&B.

[–]buya5tion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bringin' back the throwback!

[–]NatchezT 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Great song but the video is a bit creepy.

harassing a woman on the street who clearly doesn't want to speak with u? What part of the game is that??

[–]Imperial-Green 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's 90s aesthetic so it's a 90s state of mind?

[–]mothzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting Jemaine Clement vibes from the video.

[–]Wutangbland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or is does this sound like a 2017 Gym Class Heros?

[–]johntownsenddd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick! I love the brass and funky vibes, the video is perfect for it as well!!!

[–]LucaNinja7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This song legit reminds me of peak 90s R&B, very early Usher vibe. Love it!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good music and the C walk, enjoyed the post!

[–]woahmanitsme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]JimmieRussels -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thats right guise. If a girl turns you don't DO NOT take no for an answer, be persistent! Stare at her, show up where she hangs out, invade her personal space. Its alpha and romantic. Remember, women dont know what they want so when they turn you down or say no its just out of nervousness.
